WALKERTON - Walletta Stanley, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008 at 9: 15 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton.
She is survived by a son, Hargis B. (Susie) Salyer of Walkerton; daughter, Jeri Lou (David)
Baker of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
brother, Rodney (Ielene) Howard of Walkerton; and sisters: Gladys Bennett of Argos,
Louise (Wesley) Setnor of Florida and Dora (Roy) Howard of Koontz Lake.
Visitation is Friday, Jan. 4 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. ET at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz
Lake Chapel. Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. ET at the funeral home. Burial will
be in the Westlawn cemetery, North Liberty.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

Lillian Elizabeth Stoner
BOISE, Idaho — Lillian Elizabeth Stoner, 93, of Boise, Idaho, formerly of South Bend, died Jan. 1, 2008.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (William) Fifer of Bremen, Nancy (Michael) May of
Boise, Idaho and Diana Sipe of Mishawaka, eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Marian Humphrey of Jones, Mich.
Visitation is one hour prior to a 2 p.m. burial in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley
Highway, Osceola on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice &
Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

Thomas Speirs
PAXTON, Ill. — Thomas (Tommy) Speirs, 81 of Paxton; formerly of Plymouth, died at 5: 35 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at his home.
There will be no services at this time.
The remains will be interred at the New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.
Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, Ill. Is handling arrangements.

Betty Jane Gerard
FORT WAYNE — Betty Jane Gerard, 86, of Syracuse, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 at 1: 50 a.m. at
Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne after a sudden illness. She was born June 20, 1921 in Phillips,
Wis. To Albert and Anna (Schleicker) Tenut. In 1941, she married William Gerard. She moved to
Plymouth in 1952 from Chicago, and moved to Syracuse in 1995.
A homemaker, she was a charter member of Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church in
Syracuse and was a former member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She
was also active at the Syracuse Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons: Gerald “Jerry” (Gloria) Gerard of Goshen and Gary (Mary) Gerard
of Syracuse; a sister, Lena Jackson of Evanston, Ill.; two grandchildren: Evan and Braedon
Gerard of Syracuse, four step-grandchildren: Scott Green, Deb Wheeler, Cindy Matuska and
Shane Green; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband William on Aug. 6, 1989; one sister and three
brothers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home
Harris Chapel, Syracuse, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 10 at 10: 30 a.m. at Shepherd by the Lakes
Lutheran Church, 7449 E. 1000 N., Syracuse, with Pastor Jerry Winegarden officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church.
The Mishler Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel in Syracuse is assisting the family with
arrangements.

Dale Thomas Barnett
ELKHART — Dale Thomas Barnett, 54, of Elkhart, died at 8: 41 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at home.
He is survived by his father, Gerald Barnett of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Justin Dale (Lori) Barnett of
Plymouth; sister, Karen (Steve) Bottorff of Stuart, Va.; half brother, Mark Barnett of Las Vegas,
Nev.; four granddaughters; and his companion, Lois Weiderman of Elkhart.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the
Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, Osceola. A memorial wake and luncheon will take place after
the services at The Res Hotel in Mishawaka.
Burial will be at Olive cemetery, Wakarusa.
Memorials may be made to the Dale Barnett Memorial Fund c/o Dale’s family.

Lawrence E. Kennedy
Lawrence E. Kennedy, 70, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at 11: 43 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort
Wayne. He was born May 22, 1937 in Plymouth to George and Frances (Peterson) Kennedy. On
Aug. 12, 1955 in Plymouth, he married Jo Alyce Ohler, who preceded him in death in April 2001.
On Nov. 20, 2004, he married Elizabeth Gregory Cole in Warsaw.
Living at Yellowcreek Lake for most of his life, Lawrence was the owner and operator of TriNamic
Printing in Warsaw for more than 40 years. He was also a former employee of R.R.
Donnelley in Warsaw. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving from 1955-1958.
He was a 1955 Plymouth High School graduate. Lawrence was the past district governor for
Kiwanis Clubs International from 1982-1983 and current member of the Warsaw Noon Kiwanis.
He was also a member of AOPA and attended the conventions is Oshkosh, Wis. For many
years. He enjoyed quiet night rides on Yellowcreek Lake, sitting with the “Yellowcreek crew”
swapping stories and waterskiing. He also enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Dig’s Diner, snow
skiing in Keystone, Colo. And breakfast fly-ins while piloting a Cessna out of the Mentone and
Warsaw airports. Lawrence was a handyman and home remodeler. He also delivered Meals on
Wheels in the Silver Lake area.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Debbie (Ronald) Coleman of Plainfield; sons:
Brogan Kennedy of Warsaw and Robert “Bob” (Carrie) Kennedy of Warsaw; two grandchildren:
Jason and Brittany Kennedy of Warsaw; and two brothers: Paul (Linda) Kennedy of Auburn and
David (Pat) Kennedy of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
Visitation is Friday, Jan. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Funeral services are Friday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jamy Gregory officiating.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Gordon E. Parker
PLYMOUTH – Gordon E. “Bud” Parker, 95, died at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, in Miller’s
Merry Manor, Columbia City. He had been a Plymouth resident since 1950, coming from
Downers Grove, Ill. and establishing his home on the Plymouth-Goshen Trail until 1993. He
moved to River Park for the next seven years and then Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, until one
month ago, when he was transferred to Columbia City.
Born in LaPaz on April 16, 1912 and raised on the County-Line Road, Gordon was the son of
Emory M. and Olive W. Bechtal Parker. He graduated from Lakeville High School with the class
of 1930 and Purdue University in 1934 with a Degree in Civil Engineering. He later did Post
Graduate Studies at Purdue.
On Dec. 22, 1935, Gordon and Helen V. Rowe (daughter of Harry and Erma Rowe) were
married in Lakeville. Helen preceded Gordon in death Jan. 31, 2006.
Gordon taught Math and Industrial arts at Lakeville High School for six years, then was
Superintendent of Construction for Swift & Company - Globe Engineering for 33 years, retiring in 1974.
He enjoyed working in his lawn and garden and was an avid Crossword puzzle fan.
Gordon is survived by a daughter, Sandra and Robert Thomas of Columbia City; a son, Larry G.
and Virgie Parker of Tallahassee, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Carmen Fetters of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Friends will be welcomed on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in the funeral home. Rev. Joel
Thomas, Gordon’s grandson, and Rev. Ruth Yoder, Pastor of the Plymouth Church of the
Brethren, of which Gordon was a member, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bremen cemetery, Bremen.
Memorial gifts in Gordon’s memory may be made to the Plymouth Church of the Brethren.

Dennis Eugene Stokes
WALKERTON — Dennis Eugene Stokes, 75, of Walkerton, died Monday, Jan. 7 in Mason
Healthcare Center, Warsaw.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Carolyn Stokes of Warsaw; sons: Danny Stokes of
Mobile, Ala. And Glen Stokes of Walkerton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
sisters: Brenda Skiles of Cape Coral, Fla. And Ruth Ann Baugher of Walkerton; brothers: Harvel
“Pete” Stokes and Harold Stokes, both of Niles, Mich. And J.D. Stokes of Koontz Lake.
Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 11 after 10 a.m. at Rannells
Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services are Friday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Polk Township cemetery, Walkerton. Military graveside services will be
conducted.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Lowell James Cox
PLYMOUTH — Lowell James Cox, 87, of 6689 Old U.S. 31, died at 8: 33 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8,
2008 at his residence of natural causes.
Lowell was born Jan. 18, 1920 in Plymouth to Edgar J. and Lura G. Snyder Cox. He graduated
from LaPaz High School with the class of 1938.
On Nov. 3, 1946 in the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, Lowell took the beautiful Helen M.
Meiser to be his wife.
Lowell was a proud First Sergeant of the United States Army and a member of the 11th
Airborne. He was part of the 503rd regimental combat team that jumped on Corridor in the
Philippines; he was also part of the occupying force of Japan that stayed after the war. After
serving his country he worked as a tool and die maker with the South Bend Tool and Die Company.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, the A.F. of L.C.I.O. Union, the
Tool and Die Makers Lodge #1384, and he was a 32nd degree Mason.
Lowell adored his wife Helen, and his grandsons, he also enjoyed golf, not only playing it, but
watching it on the television. He loved gardening and tractors.
He is survived by a so, n Barry (Trisha) Cox of Plymouth; a daughter, Beth A. Cox of Monument,
Colo.; three grandchildren: Kalum, Jordan, and Masen Cox; and one great-granddaughter
McKenzie, all of Plymouth. Two brothers Wayne (Marjorie) Cox, of Bremen, and Dale (Betty)
Cox, of Lakeville, survive as well.
Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother Paul Cox.
Friends are invited to share memories with Lowell’s family in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth on Wednesday Jan. 16, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Stephen Cox, Cornerstone Community Fellowship, LaPaz,
will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Chapel Hill cemetery, Osceola, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

George Wesley Geller
ROCHESTER — George Wesley Geller, 67, of Rochester, died at 7: 45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Geller of Rochester; daughters: Yvonne (Raymond) White of
Rochester, Alissia Geller of Austin, Texas, Selena (Scott) Johnston of Rochester and Shan
(Larry) Jolley of Rochester; sons: Gib Lee of Rochester, Bud (Bonnie) Geller of Rochester and
Charlie Geller and companion Tracey Hines of South Carolina; mother, Reba Honkomp of Macy;
stepdaughters: Pam (Greg) Bell of Grissom and Eva (Charles) Harper of Elkhart; stepson, J.D.
Nolen of Elkhart; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters: Nancy (Bob) Dell of
Rochester, Linda Haeck of Leesburg, Fla. And Reba (Dennis) Derryberry of Akron; and brothers:
Bernard (Reba) Honkomp of Peru, Richard (Paulette) Geller of Monterey, Pete Geller and Laura
of Monterey, John (Becky) Honkomp of Rochester, Bill (Lori) Geller of Knox and Raymond
(Sherry) Norris of Nyona Lake.
Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday in the Good
Family Funeral Home, Rochester. A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11
in the funeral home.

Douglas C. Housley
LAKE OF THE WOODS — Douglas C. Housley, 63, of Lake of the Woods, died at 3: 11 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Community Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by his companion, Cathie Thompson; son, Jeremy (Heather) Housley of Lake
of the Woods; stepdaughter, Connie (Dave) Gill of Bremen; two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren;
one great-step-grandchild; brothers: David (Pam) Housley of Bremen, John
(Cheryl) Housley of Bremen and Dick (Cheryl) Housley of Elkhart; and sisters: Jean Thompson
of Purvis, Miss., Evon (Ronald) Miller of Purvis, Miss., Louise Working of Bella Vista, Ark.,
Shirley (James) Wallace of Bremen and Sue (George) Stangas of South Bend.
Visitation is Friday, Jan. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Union
Center cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
