Mary L. Baugher

June 25, 1931 -- Aug. 15, 2003

Former Elwood resident Mary L. Baugher, 72, Anderson, died Aug. 15, 2003, at Countryside Manor Healthcare Center after an extended illness.

She was born June 25, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Georgia Hollowell Clymer. She was a 1949 graduate of Frankton High School.

She was formerly employed by Delco Remy and Mangas Cafeteria. She had also been a caregiver for several people.

Survivors include a son, Mark and Peggy Baugher of Anderson; three daughters, Anita Byrd of Anderson, Lisa and James Martino of Burlington and Penny Savory of Ingalls; seven grandchildren, Melissa and Chad Hancock of Newport News, Va., Miranda Baugher, Kelly Fulkrod and Jesse Byrd of Anderson, Rachel and James Whetzell of Kokomo, Ashleigh Rabbe Martino of New York and Sara Garrison of Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Hancock, Jerzee Baugher, Haley Garrett, Uriah Whetzell and Isaac Whetzell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Georgia Hollowell Clymer; her former husband and friend, Russell Baugher Jr.; a son, Craig Baugher; brother, Arnold Clymer; daughter, Regina Baugher; son, Kevin Baugher; two grandchildren, Marcy Baugher and Robbie Rumler.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Gloria Long officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Foundation.

Lois L. Brown

June 19, 1928 -- Aug. 15, 2003

YORKTOWN -- Lois L. Brown, 75, resident of Yorktown, passed away Aug. 15, 2003, at the Elmcroft Center in Muncie after an extended illness.

She was born June 19, 1928, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the daughter of Joseph and Wilma Houtz Losey. She was a lifelong resident of Yorktown moving from Grove, Kansas in 1949.

She retired in 1988 from teaching in Anderson Community Schools where she had taught kindergarten for 43 years.

She was a 1954 graduate of Grove High School in Kansas and Ball State University in Muncie receiving her BA in 1957 and her MA in 1965.

She was a member of the Yorktown Christian Church and was active with the Daleville Lions Club.

Survivors include two sons, James Brown (Darla) of Yorktown and Marshal Brown of Yorktown; two daughters, Mrs. James (Marie) Johnson of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Charles (Roseanne) Schurick of Rising Sun; sisters, Lutie Riedel of Hays, Kan., and Mrs. Bud (Gladys Marie) Peterson of New York State; a brother, Jim (Thelma) Losey of Grinnell, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Brown, in 2000; infant son, Charles William Brown, in 1952; as well as her parents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 S. Walnut St., Daleville, with the Rev. James Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Daleville.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Yorktown Christian Church or the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Fund.

Mildred A. Crider

Mildred A. Crider, 93, Anderson, died Aug. 15, 2003, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson after an extended illness.

Arrangements are pending at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel.

William M. Curts

Dec. 8, 1909 -- Aug. 14, 2003

ALEXANDRIA -- Alexandria lost one of its greatest supporters with the death of William M. "Bill" Curts, 93 on Aug. 14, 2003, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

He was born Dec. 8, 1909, in Anderson, the son of Lewis Curts and Goldie Wilson Curts. He has resided in Alexandria since 1917, moving to the Masonic Home in 1999.

Bill attended Alexandria schools. He retired in 1977 from Alexandria Pure Milk Co. where he originally delivered milk by horse drawn wagon. After 26 years of employment he became co-owner with Chester and John Carver. He was affectionately known in the community as "Bill the Milkman," a role which he faithfully fulfilled for 51 years. Bill was well known in Alexandria for his sharp wit and sense of humor.

He served his Lord by being a faithful member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church where he had served on the board of trustees. In the church, Bill was also known to be an encourager of his brothers and sisters in the Family of God.

Fraternally, Bill has been a longtime member of the Alexandria Masonic Lodge 235. He was also a member of the Alexandria Order of Eastern Star 179 where he served as worthy patron for five different terms. He was also a former member of the Alexandria Lions Club. Bill served his community in many different ways. He was a volunteer driver for the Meals on Wheels program of the Alexandria Community Center. Bill also drove cancer patients back and forth to Indianapolis hospitals for treatment and was active in the Madison County R.S.V.P. program.

Bill enjoyed bowling, furniture caning and was an avid euchre player. However, the most important activity in Bill's life was his devotion and care of his family as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle.

Survivors include his daughter, Janet (Donald) McClead of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Chella McClead of Indianapolis and Curt (Lora) McClead of Cary, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Jordan Paul and Blake William McClead of Cary, N.C.; a sister, Mildred (Woodrow) Whetsel of Frankton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Walker) Curts, on Jan. 1, 1996; daughter, Billie Ruth Curts in 1949; two sisters, Mary Leer and Ruth Vera Girton; and two brothers, Virgil Leer and Johnny Leer.

A Service of Homegoing Celebration will take place on Monday, Aug. 18, at Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2107 S. Park Ave. (Indiana 9) at 1 p.m. His daughter, Janet McClead will preside at the services assisted by the Revs. Cliff Richardson and Mike Adams. Burial will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria and one hour before service Monday at the church. The Alexandria Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alexandria First Baptist Church or the Indiana Masonic Home through the funeral home.

LeeRoy Hutchison

Dec. 31, 1936 -- Aug. 15, 2003

LeeRoy Hutchison, 66, Anderson, died Aug. 15, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis after an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Paris, Ky., and lived in Anderson most of his life. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of employment and was owner/operator of J & N Trucking Co. Inc.

He attended Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and wrestling. He was past president of the Frankton Little League.

He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine (Yeager) Hutchison, whom he married Feb. 3, 1962; four children, Sandy (husband, Chris) Simpson of Anderson, Ramona (husband, Mike) Fountain of Perkinsville, Melissa Hutchison and special . friend Bill of Anderson, and Todd Hutchison and special friend Raven of Anderson; two sisters, Billie Clay O'Neal of Anderson and JoAnne (Belford) Phillips of California; a brother, Pete (wife, Myrna) Hutchison of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Dora (Jones) Hutchison; brothers, Ray Hutchison and John Thomas Hutchison; and two sons, James Lee Hutchison and Edgar R. Hutchison.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, North Chapel, Alexandria, with Dr. Sam Muncy officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the North Chapel.

Mark R. Matney

Dec. 15, 1960 -- Aug. 14, 2003

FAIRMOUNT -- Mark R. Matney, 42, Fairmount, died Aug. 14, 2003, in Madison County.

He was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Anderson, the son of James and Rosemary Matney of Fairmount. He was a 1979 graduate of Madison-Grant High School, a 1983 graduate of Purdue School of Engineering and a 1995 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan with a master's degree. He was a quality engineer at Guide Corp., Anderson.

He was a member of Reamer Club of Purdue University, ham radio operator call letters were KA9YIC. He enjoyed computers, golf and auto racing. He was an assistant coach for the Fairmount Little League Diamondbacks.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Gas City.

Survivors include his wife, Timi E. Matney, whom he married June 14, 1986; four children, Zachariah, Andrew, Noah and Mahala Ann, all at home; a brother, Dorin (Sue) Matney of Summitville; a sister, Nancy Shelton of Alexandria and her fiancee, Brian Kirkwood; grandmother, Annabelle Matney of Summitville; stepgrandmother, Mary Matney of Elwood; mother and father-in-law, Judy and Dave Moulton of Hartford City; brother-in-law, Blake (Lauren) Everhart of Eaton; and several nieces and nephews.

Prayer services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 E. North A St., Gas City, with the Rev. David Newton officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Visitation will be 2 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Matney Children Education Fund.

Mildred Rheam

July 7, 1912 -- Aug. 15, 2003

Mildred Rheam, 91, Anderson, went to her Eternal rest on Aug. 15, 2003, at Countryside Manor Healthcare.

She was born July 7, 1912, in Van Buren Township, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Lewis) Doyle. She had been a resident of Countryside Manor Healthcare Center since November 2002. She married Marion S. Rheam on Jan. 14, 1929. He died on Feb. 20, 1994.

She and her husband began their life together in Hartford City. They were farmers in Huntington County for several years living in the area of Monument City before moving to the Van Buren area where they farmed for 14 years. While living in Van Buren she worked at the Appliance Manufacturing Co. for 14 years. They moved to the Barbee Lakes near Warsaw in 1966. They owned and operated the Barbee Villas Resort from 1959 to 1985 before they moved to Anderson. She had resided in Anderson since 1985.

While a member of the Monument City and George Street Wesleyan churches she enjoyed working with the children's church. She loved to sing old songs, read, and was a basketball sports fan, and an avid Avon collector.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Bryant of Van Buren, Joyce Reese of Gas City and Evelyn Krieg of North Manchester; son, Ronald (Patsy) Rheam of Anderson; 28 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion S. Rheam; son, Marion E. Rheam; daughter-in-law, Bethada Rheam; son-in-law, Al Reese; granddaughter, Kim (Rheam) McCormick; great-grandson, William Billisitz; grandson, Marion Rheam; sister, Rilla Bartley; father, Joseph Doyle; and mother, Ethel Doyle.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hanfield United Methodist Church, 101 N. 400E, Marion, with the Revs. Fred Stayton and Tom Brodbeck officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery in Van Buren.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ferguson Funeral Home, Van Buren, and one hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robert L. Rittenhouse

Jan. 14, 1954 -- Aug. 14, 2003

ELWOOD -- Robert Lloyd Rittenhouse, 49, Elwood, died Aug. 14, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.

He was employed by Pierce Co. in Upland.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Shannon) Rittenhouse; father, Frank Rittenhouse; mother, Jeanette (Smith) Rittenhouse; two sons, Robert (wife, Judy) Rittenhouse and Jayson (girlfriend, Jerri) Rittenhouse; two sisters, Lynn (husband, Dave) Luyet and Sue (husband, Terry) Shannon; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dunnichay Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Hahn officiating. Burial will be in Aroma Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
