ROCHESTER — Gale Foley, 80, of Rochester, died Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1: 30 a.m. at Pilgrim
Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
She is survived by a daughter: Nancy Hurley; a granddaughter: Meranda (Branden) Ritchie; two
great-grandchildren: Cory and Braydon Ritchie; a sister: Clara Childress of Warsaw and two
brothers: Gene (Mary)Foley ad Dale Foley.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Good Family Funeral Home,
Rochester, and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at
Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Erma Jean Graham
GOSHEN — Erma Jean Graham, 82, of Goshen, died at 9: 40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at
Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Ed) Lyons of Titusville, Fla.; son, Michael Graham of
Walkerton; one grandson; and a brother, Jim Overmyer of Mishawaka.
Private visitation and service will be at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will be
at the Richland Center cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Lawrence Lee Hartter
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — Lawrence Lee Hartter, 98, of Rochester Hills, Mich., died
Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 in Rochester Hills, Mich.
He is survived by sons: Larry (Ruth) Hartter of Rochester Hills, Mich., Leon Hartter of Midland,
Texas and Alan (Susan) Hartter of Royal Oak, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and one hour before the service at the funeral
home Saturday. Burial will take place at the Milford cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Community Gospel Church in Bremen or to the Gideons.

Anne Mathew
Longtime Highland resident Anne Mathew died on Saturday following a brief illness.
Anne was born in Gary, Indiana and was raised in Thayer, Indiana. She graduated from Mt. Ayr
High School and Central Normal Teacher’s College in 1946. Anne obtained her Masters Degree
from Indiana University in 1967. Her teaching career spanned 40 years, in which she taught
physical education, typing, and various business classes.
Anne’s early career was spent teaching in Lapel, Wheatfield, and Morocco Indiana. In 1959 she
moved to Highland High School, Highland Indiana where she taught for 24 years, retiring in
1983. She loved working with her students and in her career founded the Highland “Lettergirls”,
sponsored G.A.A., Cheerleaders, and the Business Club.
She married her husband Delos “Doc” Mathew on Aug. 2, 1953. They remained together 43
years until his passing on Sept. 2, 1996.
Anne is survived by a loving family: Her daughter, Christine A. and her husband Robert Pickell
of Plymouth and their two sons, Ryan M. and Jason R. Pickell. Her son, Michael D. Mathew of
Fishers and his two daughters, Ashley E. and Amber S. Mathew, and her great-granddaughter,
Brooklyn Cheseman (Ashley).
She is also survived by her sister, Irene Luhr, long-time Highland resident now residing with her
children in Minnesota; as well as Doris Yacuk (Nick), her sister-in-law previously of Thayer
Indiana, now residing in Bremen Indiana; her brother and sister-in-law Delbert and Lollie Mathew
previously of Mt Ayr Indiana, now residing in Florida; and her sister-in-law. Jeanette Potts
(Delos) of St. Joseph Michigan and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Anne was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Brunton-Klemchuk, her brothers, Alex
and Nick Yacuk, and her sister, Sophie Heim. As well as in her early life, siblings, Catherine,
Olga, Peter, and Paul Yacuk.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral
Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at 11 CST, with visitation one half-hour
prior to the service. The service will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 318 N. McKinley
Ave., Rensselaer. She will be buried along side her husband at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the donor’s choice.

Mary Alice Watrous
ROCHESTER — Mary Alice Watrous, 89, of Rochester, died at 6: 20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at
Lifecare Center, Rochester.
She is survived by daughters: Carol (Ron) Shrader of Kewanna and Kay (Butch) Harris of
Huntington; son, Emory (Betty) Watrous of Belleview, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester,
and one hour prior to the services Thursday. Funeral services are Thursday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lifecare Center Activities Department.

Lawrence A. Sr. Harness
PLYMOUTH — Lawrence A. Harness Sr., 79, of Morristown, Tenn., formerly of Plymouth, died
Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 in Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Debra Lake of Ft. Wayne; sons: Lawrence Jr.,
Kenneth, Keith and Brian, all of Ft. Wayne; step-children: Ron Reese of Florida and Victor Ayres
of Piqua, Ohio; seven grandchildren; sisters: Susan Fort of Knox, Judy Young of Leiters Ford
and Peggy Harness of Knox; brothers: Jeff of Plymouth, LaVerne of Columbia City and Jerry of Florida.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial
will be in the Fletcher cemetery in Hamlet with military graveside services being conducted.
Visitation is Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. CST and Friday after 12 p.m. until the time of services at
the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Betty Lou (Overmyer) Murdick-Augsburger
PLYMOUTH — Bettye Lou (Overmyer) Murdick-Augsburger, a well-known pioneer in children’s
ministry, died at 10: 05 pm. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, in the Swiss Village Retirement Home, Berne. She was 84-years-old.
Born on Feb. 2, 1924, in Kewanna to Charlie and Esther Overmyer, Bettye Lou attended
Aubbeenaubee School and graduated from Kewanna High School with the class of 1943.
In 1945, Bettye married Roy E. Murdick of South Bend, who preceded her in death in 1978. In
1982, she married the Rev. Ivan Augsburger of Berne, who preceded her in death in 2006.
For 25 years, she was the Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship for Marshall, Starke and
Fulton counties, then known as the Tri-County Evangelism Fellowship. Through this affiliation,
she was a pioneer in children’s ministry with innovations such as home based after-school Bible
clubs (the Good News Clubs) during the school year and “Five Day Clubs” during the summer
months. She also was among the first to provide Para-church ministries at 4-H Fairs and
festivals in the summer, directed summer Bible schools in many churches in the area and taught
puppetry and its use in children’s ministry.
After Roy’s death, she traveled to Kenya, Africa, and produced a weekly puppet program for the
BBC. Her marriage to Ivan brought many short term assignments abroad and she enjoyed
recounting her experiences to her children and grandchildren.
Bettye Lou is survived by her son, Michael (Adele) Murdick of Franklin, and a daughter, Faye
(Sam) Davenport of Granger.
Ivan’s children, Maxine (Keith) Hague, Cedarville, Ohio, and Ivan (Carien) Augsburger of
Amsterdam, Netherlands also survive, together with 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, James D. (Jean) Overmyer of New Castle, survives as well.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bettye Lou’s life with her family on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008,
from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held following visitation at 7 p.m. The Rev. James Fair will officiate.
Burial will be on Friday in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery, Leiters Ford.
Memorial contributions are requested to be directed to CEF of North Central Indiana, 14086
Michigan Rd., Argos, IN 46501.

Barbara Dawn Slaybaugh
ETNA GREEN — Barbara Dawn Slaybaugh, 57, of Etna Green, died at 11: 27 a.m. on Monday,
Feb. 11, 2008 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She is survived by her husband, John; children: John F. Slaybaugh Jr. of Etna Green, Jay A.
Slaybaugh of Bremen, Dawn R. Vogler of Lakeville and Bruce Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a
sister, Carol (Lloyd) Shrouse of Ft. Wayne; and a brother, Richard (Renee) Knapp of Lacrosse.
There will be no visitation or services. A private family burial will take place.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of local arrangements.

Floyd E. Priser
BREMEN — Floyd E. Priser, 79, of Bremen, died Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 12: 04 p.m. at The Whitlock in Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Mrs. Mark “Yvonne” R. Riege of Wakarusa; son,
Lowell C. (Donna Jean) Priser of LaPaz; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler
Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. Funeral services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at the
funeral home. There will also be a visitation with the family Sunday, Feb. 17 from 1 to 2: 30 p.m.
at the Whitlock in Bremen with a prayer memorial service in the Whitlock Commons.
Burial will be at Pleasant Dale Church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Brethren Volunteer Service through the funeral home.

Dale Gene Houghton
Dale Gene Houghton, 69, of Elkhart, formerly of Dogwood Road Mishawaka, passed away
Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 in his home after an illness.
Dale was born Jan. 29, 1939 in Culver to Flora E. (Hoover) and Harold R. Houghton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Marilee (Poorman) and four sons: David (Beth) Houghton
of Middlebury, Mark (Jenifer) Houghton of Osceola, Steve (Sheila) Houghton of South Bend and
Gary Houghton of Granger. Ten grandchildren. One granddaughter Heather Nieva (Ruben) was recently married .
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He and his wife lived in Mishawaka before moving to Elkhart a few years ago. He was a member
of Coalbush United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. He retired after 43 years as a machinist.
He was a loyal loving family man. He liked to hunt and fish. His main focus was working on the
family farm in Culver. He was a member of the Boardwalk Community where he lived.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 at Coalbush United Methodist
Church, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour
prior to services, in Coalbush United Methodist Church Mishawaka with Rev. Jim Davidson
officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale’s name be made to the
Ronald McDonald House 435 Limestone St., Indianapolis, IN 46202 or to The Center for
Hospice & Palliative Care 2901 E. Bristol St., Elkhart, IN.
Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Peter Stanojevic
NORTH JUDSON — Peter "Pete" Stanojevic, 46, of North Judson, died Wednesday, Feb. 13 at
the Starke County Highway Garage.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Mark Stanojevic of North Judson; two daughters:
Jennifer Bope of North Judson and Jaime Bope of Winamac; two brothers: Djurdje Stanojevic
and Milorad Stanojevic of Yugaslavia and two nieces.
Visitation took place on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home, North Judson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Monday, Feb. 18 at noon (CST).
Burial will follow at Highland cemetery.

Anthony Kross
PLYMOUTH — Anthony Kross, 82, of 5220 Plymouth-LaPorte Trail, Plymouth, passed away
Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Anthony was born on April 25, 1925 in Chicago, Ill. To Frank and Helen (Przenicza) Kross.
Anthony and Lynette Swanson were married on Oct. 25, 1984. He has been a Marshall County
resident since 1977 moving from Chicago.
Anthony served his country in WWII in the United States Navy. He owned Kross Enterprise
Commercial Construction. He was a member of the Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162. He was an
avid golfer and played many golf courses, but had a great passion for Swan Lake Golf Course in Plymouth.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Lynette Kross of Plymouth.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Branch
officiating. Burial will be in the Swedish cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the choice of the donor.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563, is handling the arrangements.

Edna Pulla
KNOX — Edna Pulla, 89, of Knox, died Friday, Feb. 15 at the Beverly Living Center.
She is survived by a granddaughter: Kelly (Michael) Eldridge of Michigan City and a number of friends.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox.
Funeral services will take place at the chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow
at Crown Hill cemetery.

Freda M. Ross
LAKEVILLE — Freda M. Ross, 93, of Lakeville, died at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at the
Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Walkerton.
She is survived by; one daughter, Kay E. (Franklin) Albert of South Bend; three sons, Gene E.
Ross of South Bend, Larry J. Ross of South Bend, and LeRoy E. (Kathryn) Ross of North
Liberty; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Ross of Land of Lakes, Fla; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret DeMeyer of Walkerton; and
one brother, Kenneth (Sarah) Knowlton of West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Pine Creek Church of the
Brethren, North Liberty. Rev. Robert Pfeiffer will officiate. Graveside services and burial will
follow at Fair cemetery, North Liberty.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Palmer Funeral
Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services in the church on Wednesday.
Contributions in memory of Freda M. Ross may be donated to the Pine Creek Church of the
Brethren, 69531 Pine Road, North Liberty, IN 46554.
