Arthur Harold Zentz
PLYMOUTH — Arthur Harold Zentz, 99, formerly of Argos, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2: 30
p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth of natural causes.
Arthur was born the son of Argos residents Elmer and Grace Forsythe Zentz on Jan. 8, 1909.
He graduated with the Argos High School class of 1929.
On Nov. 5, 1931 he and Glenn A. Sanders of Rochester were married at Bruce Lake. She
preceded him in death on July 19, 1998.
Arthur made his living as a farmer in Walnut Township until he retired from farming in 1975. He
also drove a hack, modernly known as a school bus, for Walnut Township School in the 1930s.
He was a member of the Walnut Township Farm Bureau.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Zentz) Calhoun, of Plymouth; three grandchildren:
Steve (Deborah) Calhoun, of Plymouth; Gary (Ginger) Calhoun, of Argos and Leesburg; and
Brian (Pam) Calhoun of Leiters Ford. Two great grandchildren survive as well they are Brandon
(Erin) Calhoun, and Allison Calhoun all of Plymouth.
In addition to his spouse he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Donald Calhoun, a brother
and sister-in-law Orville (Ruth) Zentz, and a sister Opal Hanes.
Friends are invited to share memories with his family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 19,
2008, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
The Rev. Robert Rice from the Walnut Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will be in the Walnut Church of the Brethren cemetery, Argos.
Memorial gifts in honor of Arthur may be made to the Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation.

David Nyle Davis
ARGOS — David Nyle “Dave” Davis, 57, living at 15368 Michigan Rd., Argos, for the past 30
years, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center E.R., Plymouth.
Born the son of Fenten E. and Berniece H. Pozorski Davis in South Bend, Indiana, on Aug. 18,
1950, Dave graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1968.
He then graduated from the Colorado School of Trades as a Gunsmith.
On Aug. 30, 1968, Dave and Pamela A. Leffert were married in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic
Church, Plymouth.
For the past three years, Dave had been the Service Manager for the Culver Marina. He had
also worked in tool and die and operated the Davis Gunsmithing.
A true outdoors man, Dave loved fly fishing, upland bird hunting and enjoyed trips to the
Bahamas and Alaska, all accompanied by his wife Pam.
A past member of the Plymouth Gun Club and Quail Unlimited, he had served as president of
both organizations.
Dave is survived by his spouse and by their daughter; Shawnda L. (Steven) Wenino of North Liberty.
A sister, Theresa L. Davis, Bourbon, and his mother-in-law, Barbara A. Leffert, Plymouth,
survive as well along with special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Major, his beloved German Drahthaar hunting dog will also miss the company of Dave.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to share memories with his family on Friday, June 20, 2008, from 3 to 8 p.m.
at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7: 30 p.m. lead by dear friend, Dr. John Bottorff Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic
Church. The Rev. Fr. William Kummer will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Dave’s memory may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care,
112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563 or Argos EMS.

James P. Lydon
GROVERTOWN — James "Jim" P. Lydon, 86, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Winamac.
He is survived by a daughter, Bridget (John) Lydon Strejc of Grovertown; son, Larry (Doris)
Lydon of Grant Park, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. CDT at Holy Cross Church of Hamlet.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from
10 to10: 30 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel where a Rosary service will be
held Friday at 8 p.m.
Mass contributions may be given to Holy Cross Church.

Jim “Papa” Alexander
WALKERTON — Jim “Papa” Alexander, 55, of Walkerton, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; children: Shannon Holloway of Hamlet, Donald A. (Kelly Joe) Somers of Waynesville, N.C. and Jamie Alexander of Walkerton; seven grandchildren; mother, Betty; sisters: Louise Alexander of Tennessee, Linda (Dale) Gregg of Colorado and
Connie (Charles) Hester of Arkansas; and a brother, Greg Alexander of Chesterton.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 21 at 5 p.m. at Nusbaum Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Rd., Walkerton. Visitation is Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Joe H. Schwartz
ETNA GREEN — Joe H. Schwartz, 90, of Etna Green, died at 1: 22 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by sons: Walter R. (Arlene) Schwartz of Etna Green, Marvin (Naomi) Schwartz of Sparta, Tenn., Lloyd (Mary) Schwartz of Etna Green and Delbert (Sylvia) Schwartz of Etna Green; daughters: Louise (Calvin) Barber of Bourbon and Edna (Alvin) Miller of Nicaragua, Central America; 59 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Dan Schwartz of Monroe and John Schwartz of Nappanee; and sister, Lovina Helmuth of Nappanee.
Visitation was after 3 p.m. Thursday and is all day Friday at the Lloyd Schwartz residence, 9729 W. 575 N., Etna Green. Funeral services are Saturday, June 21 at 9: 30 a.m. at the Schwartz residence. Burial will be at Graber cemetery.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is handling the arrangements.

Cecil B. Binkley
ETNA GREEN — Cecil B. Binkley, 90, of Etna Green, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 12: 56 a.m. in Goshen General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children: Carolyn Shigley of Hazel Crest, Ill. and Larry (Rita) Binkley of Etna Green; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m. in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Etna Green cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Etna Green Museum Fund.

Sarah Mae (Miller-Chupp) Helmuth
NAPPANEE — Sarah Mae (Miller-Chupp) Helmuth, 88, of Nappanee, died at 2: 35 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008 at home.
She is survived by daughters: Ruby (Floyd) Bontrager of Middlebury, Treva (Olen) Yoder of
Goshen and Mary (Sam) Barkman of Nappanee; sons: Ura (Mary) Chupp of Nappanee, Samuel
(Pearl Louise) Chupp of Burr Oak, Mich., Atlee (Wilma Jean) Chupp of Shipshewana, Ernest
(Irene) Chupp of Nappanee, Emanuel Chupp Jr. of Nappanee and Wayne (Linda) Chupp of
Syracuse; stepsons: Jr. (Alta) Helmuth and George (Lorene) Helmuth, both of Arthur, Ill.; 50
grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 125 great-grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Ella (Eli) Chupp of Middlebury, Lillie (Dan) Bontrager of
LaGrange, Arlene (Enos) Mast of Topeka, Lydia Mae Schwartz of Nottawa, Mich. and Amanda
Stutzman of North Carolina; and brothers: Seth (Pat) Miller of Goshen and Samuel Miller of Elkhart.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Thursday and is all day Friday at the Sam Barkman residence, 30235
U.S. 6 West. Funeral services are Saturday, June 21 at 9: 30 a.m. at the Barkman residence.
Burial will be at Weldy cemetery.

Betty Lou Strantz
LYNNWOOD, WASH. — Betty Lou Strantz of Lynnwood, Wash, formerly of LaPaz, passed away June 13. She was the daughter of Al and Gertrude Allen of LaPaz. She attended high school in LaPaz.
Survivors include her sister, Janet Lee Martin of Grand Rapids, Mich., her nieces, Lizabeth Lewis and Jackie Thompson, nephew Jeff Remley all of the Grand Rapids area. Also her Aunt, Mildred Emmons, Cousins, Karen Funkhouser, Kristi Livengood all of the Monticello area and Greg Meyers of Des Moines, Iowa.
Due to her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Janet Cody
GROVERTOWN — Janet Cody, 48, of Mansfield, Ohio, formerly of Grovertown, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Mansfield Medical Central Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Jason (Dawn) Cody of Walkerton; two grandchildren; her father, Don "Fuzzy" Clark of Walkerton; and brothers: Steve Clark of Kansas and Dale (Keri) Clark of Walkerton.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. EDT until the time of services at the funeral home.

Gary C. Mitchell
PLYMOUTH — Gary C. Mitchell, 68, of 1125 Ferndale Street, Plymouth, passed away at 6: 02
a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth.
Gary was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Arlene (Allen) Mitchell. Gary
proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Gary worked as a
sales representative for several companies over the years, one of which was Pilgrim Farms of
Plymouth. Sue Gill and Gary Mitchell were married Dec. 17, 1976. They moved back to
Plymouth in 1995.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sue Mitchell of Plymouth; his daughters: Denise Mitchell of Fort
Wayne, Jill and Louis Smolenski and their children Katie and Erin of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his sons:
Steve Gill of Crown Point, Greg and Brenda Gill and their children Greg, Jr. and Amy of
Plymouth, Doug and Beth Gill and their children Bryce, Hailey, and Chase, of Wheaton, Ill., and
Mike and Helen Gill of White Lake, Mich.; his sister, Vicky and Al Allbaugh of Lolaville, Texas
and their children Michael and Julie.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Plymouth Wesleyan
Church, 11203 S. Michigan St., Plymouth, with the Rev. John Branch officiating. A time of
visiting with the family will be from 1: 30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 494, Plymouth, IN
46563, Hephzidah c/o the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, or to the choice of the donor.

Larry D. Cadie
BELVIDERE, Ill. — Larry D. Cadie, 59, of Belvidere, Ill. died Sunday, June 22, 2008 in his home
following a short illness. He was born April 4, 1949 in DeKalb, Ill., the son of Harold G. and
Helen (Jacobus) Cadie.
Larry has lived most of his life in Boone County. He built and owned Cadie Car Hauling. He was
a Veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in the Army with a tour in Germany. He was raised in the
Methodist Faith. He was a member of NRHA (National Hot Rod Association) and Flora Grange.
Larry enjoyed collecting toy model cars, trains and trucks, and ’55 Chevrolets. He was also a
Harley Davidson enthusiast and a drag racer at the Byron Drag way. He loved attending Bike
Week in Daytona, Fla. and also vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his fiancee, Dawn Thompson of Belvidere, Ill.; his mother, Helen Cadie of
Belvidere, Ill.; seven children: Larry; Laurie; Jodi; Jennifer; Jason; Paul and Anastashia; many
grandchildren; three sisters: Debra (Dale) Dickison of Plymouth, Kathy (Mel) Stewart and Janis
(James) Bakke, both of Belvidere, Ill.; three brothers: Richard (Julie) Cadie of DeBary, Fla.,
Roger (Susan) Cadie and Steven (Cathy) Cadie both of Belvidere, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Lynn.
Funeral services at 1 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2008 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218
W. Hurlbut Ave. Burial in Belvidere cemetery. All Hot Rod and Motorcycle enthusiasts are
welcomed to join the procession to the cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.

Betty J. Mason-Clipp
OSCEOLA — Betty J. Mason-Clipp, 73, of Osceola, died at 9: 33 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at
her brother’s home.
She is survived by sisters: Norma (Elmer) Rapp of Milford, Mary J. Reed of South Bend, Ruth C.
Labello of Elkhart, Nancy K. Barrier of Savannah, Tenn. and Nina Tom of Bremen; and brothers:
James (Nancy) Mason of Wakarusa, Gordon (Ann) Mason of South Bend, Roger (Stella) Mason
of Elkhart, Warren (Martha) Mason of Elkhart and Richard (Donna) Mason of Osceola.
Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday at the
Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, Osceola. Funeral services are Friday at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will be at Olive Mennonite cemetery. Memorials may be made to The
Elkhart Chapter of the Centers for Hospice and Palliative Care or the American Cancer Society.
Father John Neville OSC
Fr. John Neville OSC, 72, died June 23, 2008 from the effects of cancer. He was born Aug. 6, 1935.
The funeral mass for Fr. Neville was celebrated Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Crosier Priory
Church in Onamia, Minn. Internment will be Wednesday, July 9 at 11 a.m. CST at Oakhill
cemetery in Plymouth.
Fr. Neville professed vows in the Crosier Order Aug. 28, 1956 and was ordained a priest May
27, 1961. Throughout his life as a Crosier, Fr. Neville served as a teacher, seminary rector,
artist, musician, computer expert, and Crosier Community leader as Prior and Provincial.
Fr. Neville was preceded in death by his father, John S. Neville and his mother Annabelle NevilleHorner.
John is survived by his Crosier confreres; his sisters: Ruth (Jim) Rossi and Bobbie
(Richard) Hook; and cousins, and niece and nephew. Blessed be the memory of John.
Whitney-Murphy Funeral Home, Little Falls, Minn., was in charge of the arrangements.

William E. “Earl” Byrer
ETNA GREEN — William E. “Earl” Byrer, 83, of Etna Green, died at 9: 47 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
He is survived by daughters: Carma Page of Millwood, Darla (Gene) Frederick of Etna Green and Debra (Gene) Smith of Syracuse; sons: Roger (Betty) Byrer of Claypool and Dan (Robin) Byrer of Fairview, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services are Friday, June 27 at 10: 30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Stony Point cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the WIlliam E. Byrer Memorial Fund.

Ruth Elaine Chupp
ETNA GREEN — Ruth Elaine Chupp, 11, of Etna Green, died at 7: 30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at home.
She is survived by parents, Lee Alan and Carolyn Chupp; sisters: Vera Jean Chupp, Rosanne
Kay Chupp and Lorene Sue Chupp, all at home; brothers: Duane Alan Chupp and Dale Eugene
Chupp, at home; and grandparents: Ray and Lizzie Hershberger of Goshen and Levi and Mary
Chupp of Etna Green.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday at the Levi and Mary Chupp
residence, 10181 W. 900 N., Etna Green. Funeral services will be Friday at 9: 30 a.m. at the
Omar Kauffman residence, 8804 N. S.R. 19. Burial will be at Graber cemetery.
