Patsy “Pat” L. Kaufman
PLYMOUTH — Patsy “Pat” L. Kaufman, 72, living on N. Michigan Road, Plymouth, for the past
50 years, died of natural causes in her residence at 8: 45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
Born in Plymouth July 10, 1936, Pat was the daughter of Marion R. and Mabel F. Lichenberger Booker.
She graduated from Culver High School with the class of 1954, and from the South Bend School
of Cosmetology.
On August 28, 1954, Pat and Lowell J. Kaufman were married . Lowell died on June 20, 2000.
A cosmetologist, Pat was self-employed in her home for 45 years. She named her shop; Pat’s
Beauty Nook and had many loyal clients through the years.
She was devoted to her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed golf, gardening, caring for
her Koi fish pond and her faithful Blue Point Doberman - Keesha.
Pat, a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church was active with the Altar and Rosary
society and was a Eucharistic minister.
She was also a longtime member of Delta Theta Tau sorority.
Pat is survived by a daughter, Lori D. (Dr. John M., Jr.) Bottorff, Crawfordsville, and three
grandchildren: John K., Bryant M., and Angela M. Bottorff, all of West Lafayette.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and the recent loss of her daughter,
Peggy L. Kaufman on May 28, 2008.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Pat with her family at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2008. A
rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Calling will continue after 7 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10: 30 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008, in St.
Michael’s Catholic Church, 613 N. Center St., Plymouth. The Rev. Father William Kummer will
officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Pat’s name may be made to the Marshall County Community Foundation - St.
Michael’s School Tuition Assistance Fund.

Ellen C. Dosmann
SOUTH BEND — Ellen C. Dosmann, 81, residing in South Bend, passed away at 3: 20 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 in Memorial Hospital following an illness.
She was born September 9, 1926 in Terre Haute, Ind., the daughter of Howard H. and Helen G.
(Brown) Heaton and has lived in the South Bend-Mishawaka area most of her life. She was a
1944 graduate of Mishawaka High School.
On July 21, 1945 in St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as Ellen Heaton, she was united
in marriage to Joseph B. Dosmann. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing on Feb.
13, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a son, John D. Dosmann in 1979; two infant sons,
Joseph and Gerald and a great-granddaughter, Lisabeth Sue Dosmann on Jan. 18, 2008. Her
sister Selma DeVos also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dosmann was secretary-treasurer of Northern Electric Company for many years and later
served as chairman of the board. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the
Elizabethan Ladies of Knights of Columbus Council 5521 and was a member of the Ladies Golf
Leagues at Erskine and Studebaker courses. Mrs. Dosmann was an avid sports fan; she
especially enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and the Indianapolis Colts.
She was dedicated to and loved her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with
the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished her time spent with “the girls” and
enjoyed keeping them busy. She loved to go shopping with her namesake, granddaughter, Ellen.
Mrs. Dosmann was a very strong and independent woman even until the end of her life. She had
an amazing sense of humor and will be missed by all.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Diane and Wayne England of Plymouth
and Susan and Bob Litteral of North Liberty; a son and his wife Howard P. and Pamela
Dosmann of North Liberty; nine grandchildren: Ellen (Matthew) Gaines, Joseph A. (Kaitlyn)
England, Philip T. (Elizabeth) Crone, Patrick Crone, Lindsey Crone, Tara (Gary) Brown, Kevin
Dosmann, Michael (Vicki) Dosmann and Stephanie Dosmann, and five great-grandchildren:
Tyler England, Kylee Gaines, Braden Gaines, Zachary Brown and Dakota Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at St. Jude Catholic
Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Dosmann may be offered to The Center for Hospice & Palliative
Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Lloyd Allen Trump
Broad Run, Va.— Lloyd Allen Trump, 64, of Broad Run, Va. died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at
Fauquier Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen W.; daughters: Margaret (Josh) Schaaf of Bealeton, Va.
and Katherine Trump of Gainesville, Va.; son, Matthew (Rebecca) Trump of Silver Spring, Va.;
sisters: Lou (Clell) Michel of Tipton, Lorie Hofman of South Africa, Kate (Harold) Biltz of
Warsaw, Betty Trump of Warsaw, and Barbara Trump of Warsaw; and brothers: Richard
(Mallie) Trump of Tippecanoe, Robert (Nancy) Trump of Tippecanoe and Russell (Beth) Trump
of Argos.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 11 in the Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, Va.
Memorials may be made to the Living Covenant Church, P.O. Box 3145, Oakton, VA 22124.
The Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is assisting with local arrangements.

Daniel Miller
KNOX — Daniel Miller, 48, of Knox, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at Porter Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by companion, Annette Bradley of Knox; stepdaughter, Bray Lynn (Brian) Lewis of
Monterey; brothers: Don (Jan) Miller of Grovertown, William (Denee) Miller of Hannah and
Wendell Miller of Knox; sisters: Wilma (Roy) Hensley of Knox, Brenda (Jerry) Chiles of Knox,
Rhonda (Fred) Anderson of Xenia, Ohio and Lorene Miller of Knox; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox.
Funeral services are Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown
Hill cemetery.

Paul Perry
UNION MILLS — Paul Perry, 66, of Union Mills, died at 7: 40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Perry of Union Mills; mother, Virginia Alfreda Perry of Fish
Lake; son, Paul Perry Jr. of Bellaray, Texas; daughter, Juliane High of Plymouth; brothers:
Nathan (Beverly) Perry of Fish Lake and Jim (Katherine) Perry of Tampa, Fla.; and sister, Stella
(Lawrence) Withrow of Placerville, Calif.
Visitation is Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. until the
time of services at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte. Funeral services are Thursday at 11
a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery, Mill Creek.
Memorials may be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 8762 E. 200 S., Mill Creek; American
Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46201; or VNA Hospice of

Richard "Rick" Vance
ROCHESTER — Richard "Rick" Vance, 62, of Wolf's Point Dr. Rochester, died Saturday, Aug. 9
at 5 p.m. at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St. (S.R. 14 West), Rochester.
The Rosary will be recited with Fr. Joseph E. Jacob at 7: 30 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at the Saint Joseph Catholic
Church with Fr. Burt Woolson.

Homer B. Adkins
MONTEREY — Homer B. Adkins, 67, of Monterey, died Sunday, Aug. 10 in Monterey.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Adkins of Monterey; sons: Homer DeWayne Adkins of DeMotte
and Dan Adkins of Palos Hills, Ill.; daughter, Sherry Victucci of Crown Point; sisters: Kay Smith
of Garrison, Ky., Gail McCurr of Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home, North
Judson. Funeral services are Thursday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at
Memory Lanes, Schererville.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Bruce VanDerWeele
ARGOS — Lifetime Argos resident Bruce VanDerWeele, 89, passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday,
Aug. 10, 2008. He had been a resident at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth for the past two
months. He suffered from pulmonary disease for many years.
Bruce was the youngest of five sons born to Jacob and Alberta VanDerWeele on March 26,
1919 in Argos. After graduating from Argos High School with the class of 1937, he completed
school at Fort Wayne Business College. While working for the Pennsylvania Railroad, he
received his draft notice in January 1942 to serve in the Army and was sent to California. He
married his high school sweetheart Vivian Thomas in the Wilshire Blvd. Methodist Church, Los
Angeles, on Sept. 21, 1941. Two months after they wed, Pearl Harbor was bombed and they
were separated. Bruce was sent to Hawaii and Viv returned to Argos. After the war, he returned
home where he owned and operated the Argos Newsstand until 1955. He was then in sales until
founding Vanadco Signs. He retired in 1982. Also, he retired from the military with the rank of
Colonel, after 34 years of service. Bruce and Vivian enjoyed traveling in their retirement years,
and enjoyed their winter months in Surprise, Ariz.
Bruce was a life member and served as Commander of the Argos American Legion, Post 68,
where he led their award-winning Color Guard. After a fire in the late '50s, he was instrumental in
building their new Post. He is a member of the Plymouth VFW Post 1162 and a 50-year member
and 32nd degree mason of the Plymouth-Kilwinning Lodge #149 of F. & A.M. He was involved
with Explorer Scouts in Argos during the ’50s and the Scout Yellow River District, now Camp
Tamarack in Jones, Mich. He served as Argos Town Judge, 1980-84. He was active in the
Argos Alumni Association, and the South Bend Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association. He
was a board member of the Marshall County Historical Society, charter member of the Blueberry
Festival Board, and a member of the Marshall County Tax Review Board.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Argos; daughter, Jean (Bruce) Stauffer of Argos; son, Jon D.
(Darleen) VanDerWeele of Argos; daughter, Janis (Steve) Wagner of Eugene, Ore.; nine
grandchildren: Jay (fiancee Julie) Stauffer, Jana (fiance Sung) Stauffer, Todd (Stacy)
VanDerWeele, Amee (Andy) Stone, Mark (fiancee Jena) VanDerWeele, Kari (Troy) Nielsen,
ENS Scott Wagner, FCSN Chad Wagner and Emily Wagner; and eight great-grandchildren:
Riley and Abby Stauffer, Spencer, Alexis and Madilyn VanDerWeele, Samantha, Jonathon and
Jacob Stone.
Preceding him in death are his parents are four brothers: Wayne, Ward, Jack and Gene.
Upon Bruce’s wishes immediate cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends
Friday, Aug. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Argos Methodist Church, 540 N. Michigan St. A
celebration service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m.
Bruce truly loved his family, his country, and his "little" town of Argos. He loved roses, kite flying,
and people (he never met a stranger). He loved to watch the flag blowing in the breeze. We’re
going to miss him; he was one of a kind. Contributions can be made to Argos Parks Program,

Jason B. Faro
PLYMOUTH — Jason B. Faro, 38, formerly of South Bend, died Monday, August 11, 2008 in
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; daughters: Amanda and Cheyenne; sons: Joshua, Brandon and
Joseph; one granddaughter; parents, Daniel and Linda Faro; brother, Christopher Faro and
grandparents, Dan Faro, Drexel Hurley and Helen DeMoss.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake
Chapel. Visitation is Friday from 6 p.m. EDT until the time of services at the funeral home.

Larry L. Summy
LEESBURG — Larry L. Summy, 66, of 4860 N. 175 E., Leesburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008
at 9: 10 p.m. from complications of cancer at Kosciusko Community Hospital surrounded by
family and friends. He was born Feb. 8, 1942 in Warsaw to Kenneth and Marie (Williamson)
Summy. On July 16, 1969, he married Mary Ellen Wildman in Leesburg.
A native of Bourbon until moving to Leesburg, he was a truck driver for Fairmont Homes and
then Maple Leaf Farms, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion Post #424,
Bourbon. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He was an award-winning professional
shuffleboard player. Larry was an avid I.U. fan and supporter of his grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Summy of Leesburg; two daughters: Sara (Terry) Martin of
Warsaw and Rachelle (Scott) Edwards of Apex, N.C.; two sons: Jim (Mindy) Coon of Columbia
City and Michael (Christine) Coon of Warsaw; sister, Patty (Everett) Beagle of Bourbon; 11
grandchildren: Amanda (Chris) Martin, Alan Coon, Tara (Justin Miller) Martin, Tarissa Martin,
Sterling Martin, Victoria Martin, Rachel Edwards, Mari Edwards, Corinne Coon, Olivia Coon and
Ellis Coon; two great-grandchildren: Dallas and Danika Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A
celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev.
Ron Horgan and Rita Price officiating.
Burial will be at the Leesburg cemetery at a later date.

Sister Laura, P.H.J.C. Banet
DONALDSON — Sister Laura Banet, P.H.J.C., 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008 at her home
in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include brother, Rev. Paul Banet of Galveston, Texas; sister, Victorine (James)
Malsbury of Arcadia, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Joan Banet of Fort Wayne.
Mass of Resurrection is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500
S. Fairfield Ave. Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Ancilla Domini Convent Chapel, Donaldson, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 18 at the Convent Chapel. Evensong will be at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Ministry fund, through their
Development Office or Masses at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth, is handling the local arrangements.
