Harold E. Fritter
PLYMOUTH — Harold E. Fritter, 63, of 14602 Menominee, Plymouth, passed away Saturday,
Sept. 20, 2008, at his home, after a long three-year battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Warren County, Indiana, to John and Mildred (Bowles) Fritter.
Harold and Diana Sue Tanner were married on Aug. 25, 1963, and recently celebrated their 45th
wedding anniversary. Harold worked at the Bethlehem Steel Mills, in Gary, Indiana, for 34 years.
He retired at the age of 58.
He loved antique cars, fishing, and hunting, but most of all, he loved spending time with his
family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Diana; their daughters, Laura Holdread of Plymouth, Lisa and
(Joe) Gibson of Plymouth, and Marie and (Gus) Springman of Plymouth; their son, Johnny and
(Karen) Fritter of Culver; their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Clarissa, Kayla, and Josh
Holdread, Jason (Delma) Gibson, and great-granddaughter Kaylee; Brandy (Jaun) Garcia, and
great-granddaughter Jasmine; Chelsey, William, and Kara Springman; and Trista and Trenton
Fritter, his mother, Mildred Fritter; his sisters, Virginia Hummel, Peggy Amor, and Susan and
(John) Drews; and his brothers, Lee Fritter and Bill Fritter. He was preceded in death by his
father, John Fritter; and his sister, Donna Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 10: 30 a.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral
Home in Plymouth. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
A time of visiting with the family and sharing memories of Harold, will be on Wednesday, Sept.
24, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 South
Center Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.

Riley Roger Bailey
NORTH JUDSON — Riley Roger Bailey, 60, of North Judson, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bailey of Knox; mother, Irene Bailey of Knox; sons: Roger (Jo
Ann) Bailey of Rensselaer, Richard (Candy) Bailey of Culver and Rusty (Misty) Bailey of Knox;
sisters: Dorothy Ludwig of Grovertown, Delores Hollinger of Koontz Lake and Carol Corey of
Knox; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel,
Knox. Funeral services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Round
Lake cemetery.

Craig E. Wolfington
AVON — Funeral services for Craig E. Woolfington, 41, former Plymouth resident, will be held at
2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21in the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100
N. Michigan St., Plymouth and on Sunday one hour prior to services in the church.
Preferred are memorial gifts to the Kate Woolfington Education Trust Fund. Envelopes will be
available at the funeral home, church or may be mailed c/o 8638 Holm Mountain Circle, Avon, IN
46123.

Walter “Wade” Wyatt
PLYMOUTH – Walter “Wade” Wyatt, 96, 10320 Pretty Lake Trail, died of natural causes in
Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 9: 45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.
His kindness, wit and generosity of spirit endeared Wade to everyone who knew him.
His trademark was his red socks. No matter what other colors he was wearing, red socks gave
him his jaunty look and complemented his engaging smile.
Born to Walter and Nola Conlee Wyatt on July 21, 1912, in Ina, Illinois, Wade graduated from
Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, Ind., with the class of 1930. He worked for a time for the
Empire Oil Co. as a steam fitter’s helper and later at city Service, both in East Chicago.
Married in 1933, to Kay, his high school sweetheart, the couple, after a short stint in west Texas,
moved to Bourbon, where Wade worked for the New Way Lumber Co.
In the early months of 1944, Wade joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the
Pacific Theater with MAG 25, the Marine Air Group, flying transport planes.
A decorated veteran, he was honorably discharged in June of 1946.
Wade managed, for more than 20 years, the Bourbon Lumber and Coal Company. In 1960, he
went on the road for the Freed Wholesale Lumber Company. In 1974, at the age of 62, he retired.
For one year. He said that “one year of playing solitaire was enough.”
For the next 22 years he worked as a salesman and quality control officer for Shamrock Homes
in Plymouth. Up until his 86th birthday, he still went into the office part time.
Wade first wife, Kay, died in 1980. In 1982, he married Delores “Dee” Adams, who died in 1998.
A great card player and fantastic golfer, Wade belonged to the Moose Lodge, the VFW, and the
American Legion. He was the oldest member of the Plymouth Country Club and at the age of 85,
had been crowned the senior champion in a golf tournament, besting men players in their 50’s,
60’s and 70’s.
Wade is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Al Hartman, Plymouth and by two
grandsons: Chad (Sherry) Rapp, Bourbon and Matthew (Sheri) Rapp, and two great -grandsons:
Ryan Rapp of Bourbon, and Trenton Rapp of Warsaw.
Step-daughters Toni (Dave) Parsons and Chris (Moe) Conn, two step- granddaughters Emma of
Muncie and Tessa Parsons of Plymouth, and two step-grandsons, Tony Hartman, Elkhart, and
Bill (Missy) Hartman, Warsaw, survive as well.
Step-great-grandchildren, Julie and Sydney Hartman, and Trevor Delacruz, all of Warsaw,
Angela Overmeyer, Atwood, and four step great-great grandchildren also survive, they are Mady,
Abby, Sydney, and Alex Overmeyer all of Atwood.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Kay and Dee and two brothers: James and Conlee.
Friends will be welcomed by his family with the sharing of memories of Wade from 11 to 1 p.m.
on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Memorial service for Wade will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager of the
First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Military Honors will be presented to Wade by the Plymouth American Legion Post 27.
Memorial gifts in Wade’s memory may be made to the Plymouth Country Club Tree Fund.

Donald R. Bottorff
PLYMOUTH — Donald R. Bottorff, 86, of 9662 Redwood Road, Plymouth, passed away
Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at 2 a.m. at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1922, in South Bend to Burt and Carrie (Sullivan) Bottorff. Donald
Bottorff and Mary Hughes were married on May 14, 1944, in South Bend. He drove a truck for
Syler Seed Company, for 21 years, and also drove for the Fulton-Marshall County Co-op, for 10
years. He drove a 1965 Mack truck and you could hear him coming from miles away. He also
loved to spend time gardening.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary; their daughter, Carol Schaefer of Plymouth; their sons: Don
and Janita Bottorff of Knox, Richard Bottorff of Plymouth, and Charles Bottorff of Plymouth; his
sister, Louise Hughes of Plymouth; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his son, Carl Bottorff, who passed away on April 19, 1990; and his son-in-law
and “great buddy”, Tom Schaefer, who passed away on Oct. 29, 2001.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at 10: 30 a.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral
Home in Plymouth. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may visit with the Bottorff family on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the
Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563.
The family would like for memorial contributions to be given to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563.

Lester L. Parris
PLYMOUTH — Lester L. Parris, 48, of Plymouth, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by his stepdaughters: Tanya Pine of Rochester, Tina Rhoads of Plymouth, Cheryl
Bowyer of Mentone, Rebecca Trayer of Martinsburg, W. Va., Lori Whittington of Dayton, Tenn.
And Peggy Guzzo of Plymouth; stepsons: Jamie Guzzo of Rochester and Thomas Guzzo Jr. of
Culver; mother, Mary Brown of West Dover, Vt.; sisters: Brenda Holden of Wilmington, Vt. And
Sharon Cox of Massachusetts; and brother, Clark Parris of Wilmington, Vt.
A family service will be held in Vermont.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is assisting with the arrangements.

Harley Max Bradbury
WARSAW — Harley Max Bradbury, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at 12: 55 a.m. at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He is survived by a brother, Donald (Chris) Bradbury of Elkhart; and sister, Juanita Alexander of
Atwood.
Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Funeral services are Thursday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at
Tippecanoe cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Florence “Rita” Daniels
PLYMOUTH — Florence “Rita” Daniels, 88, of Plymouth, died at 6: 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23,
2008, at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Plymouth.
She is survived by her daughter, Trish Mazin of Plymouth; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; her sister; and her brother.
There will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, is handling the arrangements.

Max Eldon Fribley
WARSAW — Max Eldon Fribley, 85, of Warsaw, died at 9: 12 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at
Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fribley of Warsaw; daughter, Susan (Don) Plank of Silver
Lake; sons: Fred Fribley of Warsaw and Scott (Wendy) Fribley of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren;
and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private family viewing will be held. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 25 at 11
a.m. at Oakwood cemetery, Warsaw. Military rites will be conducted by the Warsaw American
Legion #49 and VFW #1126.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave., Suite
2015, Chicago, IL 60602.

Evelyn Kovaly
PLYMOUTH — Evelyn Kovaly, 90, of Plymouth, formerly of Clifton, N.J. and Palm Bay, Fla., died
at 11: 45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Karen) Kovaly of Palm Coast, Fla.; daughter, Muriel (Steve)
Martin, of Argos; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 8 p.m.
Interment will be held at a later date in Cedar Lawn cemetery, Paterson, N.J.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society or The Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care.

Stephen Ramer
ROCHESTER — Stephen Ramer, 10, of Rochester, died at 9: 35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his parents, Luke and Verna Ramer; sisters: Lora Ramer and Lucy Ramer;
brothers: Leonard Ramer and Floyd Ramer; maternal grandparents: John and Helen Imhoff of
Holland, Ky.; paternal grandparents: Ben and Verna Ramer of Rochester; and paternal great-grandparents,
Christian and Lydia Weaver of Goshen.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 25 from
to 1 to 6 p.m. in the family home at 7968 N. 350 E., Rochester. Funeral services are Friday,
Sept. 26 at the Tippecanoe Old Order Mennonite Church, Newcastle Township, Fulton County.
The Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements.

Bertha Awald Shores
WALKERTON — Bertha Awald Shores, 87, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 in LaPorte.
Survivors include four sons: Peter (Karen) Awald, Timothy (Sue) Awald, Daniel (Mary Ann)
Awald, all of Koontz Lake and Mark Awald; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church, 1174 Lake
St., Walkerton, IN 46574.

Jane John
BRADENTON, Fla. — Former Plymouth resident, Jane John, 93, passed away, September 24,
in Bradenton, Fla.
She was born April 21, 1915, in Bremen, Indiana to Charles N. and Lucinda Jane (Arnold) Hiester.
She married Fred P. John in Bremen on Jan. 30, 1937. He preceded her in death April 12, 1986.
The Johns were former members of the First Presbyterian Church. Jane was a long time
hairdresser in Plymouth, and along with her husband they operated John’s Beauty Shop on
Shalley Drive for 40 years. They retired to Bradenton, Fla. in 1986.
Survivors include her two daughters, Karen (Bud) Morgan, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Janis (Dr, John)
Petstcher, Madison, Ind., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters and one brother; Berniel (William) Butler, Niles Michigan,
Gretchen (Dean) Kimble, Bremen, Lana Huff, Indianapolis, Wendell Hiester, Saginaw, Mich.,
and a sister-in-law, Virginia (Ralph) Lechlitner.
Four brothers preceded her in death, Arthur, Woodrow, Robert, and Mahlon Hiester.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home,
1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5 – 7 p.m. and
again one hour prior to services. The Rev. Paul Nye will officiate.
Entombment will follow in the New Oakhill Mausoleum, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
