DELONG — Hermel E. Stevens, 77, of Delong, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Stevens; daughters: Denise (Mike) Atkins of Grovertown
and Deana Flenner of Mentone; sons: David (Trudy) Stevens of Fort Payne, Ala., Donald
(Dianna) Stevens of Morehead, Ky. and Dwight (Rhonda) Stevens of Delong; 12 grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; sister, Dollie Samons of Olive Hill, Ky.; and brother, Stanley Stevens of Delong.
Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, and
one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at
the funeral home. Burial will be at Monterey Riverside cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Delong Gospel Lighthouse and to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Marguerite Mitchell Frost
MUNDELEIN, Ill. — Marguerite Mitchell Frost, 91, of Mundelein, Ill., formerly of Rochester,
died Dec. 1, 2008 at Libertyville Manor Nursing Care Facility, Libertyville, Ill.
She is survived by daughter, Phyllis (George) Philbrick of Palatine, Ill.; sons: David Frost of
Mundelein, Ill. And Jack (Linda) Frost of Maryland; daughter-in-law, Nadine Frost of Washington;
two grandchildren; sisters: Carol Mitchell (Carl) Bennett of Indiana and Elaine Mitchell (Bill)
VanLue of Florida; brother, Robert (Janice) Mitchell of Pittsboro; and brother-in-law, John Frost
of North Carolina.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 12 at 11: 30 a.m. at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
The Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard E. Poulson
BREMEN — Richard E. Poulson, 79, of Bremen died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at the Bremen
Health Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons: Kent E. (Angie) Poulson of Donaldson and Brian T.
(Martha) Poulson of Wakarusa; daughters: Regina K. (Dave) White of Knox and Renee S. (Rick)
Fites of Bourbon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Poulson of South
Bend; and sister, Opal (John Vernon “Jack”) Jackson of Naples, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the Mishler Funeral Home in
Bremen. Burial will be at the Bremen cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at
the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Marshall County.

Roy L. Cox
BREMEN — Roy L. Cox, 70, of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at 2: 46
p.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra K. Cox of Bremen; daughter, Melinda (Steve) Gonce of
Plymouth; sons: Jeff (Colleen) Cox of Rochester, Tony (Teresa) Cox of Tippecanoe and Todd
(Nada) Cox of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Burial
will follow at Bremen cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to service Wednesday.

Mary L. Humbarger
TUCSON, ARIZ. — Mary L. Humbarger, 93, formerly of Rochester, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at
10: 27 p.m. at her home in Tucson, Ariz.
She is survived by two daughters: Darla (Leo) Klotz of Battle Creek, Mich. and Susanne (Wayne)
Engle of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons: David (Deanne) Humbarger of Sauetia, Ariz. and Daniel
(Barbara) Humbarger of Eager, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren
and a brother, Herbert (Armeta) Fish of Battle Creek. Mich.
Private services will be held Monday, Dec. 15 with burial to follow at Reichter cemetery.
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.

Harriet J. BonDurant
SOUTH BEND — Harriet J. BonDurant, 92, died Dec. 6, 2008, a resident of the Sanctuary at St. Paul's.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Arnold (Dr. P.G.) of Rochester, Minn.; a son, Bruce
(Catherine) BonDurant of South Bend; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at the First Presbyterian Church, 333
W. Colfax Ave., South Bend. Friends may visit with the family in the church parlor immediately
after the service. Burial will take place at the Bremen cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, 2528
Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Beth King
TIPPECANOE — Sarah Beth King, 18, of Tippecanoe, Ind., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at 3: 15
a.m. as a result of a one vehicle automobile accident on Elm Road near 14B Road in Marshall County.
She is survived by her parents: Thomas and Kristi King of Tippecanoe; her sister, Chelsea King
and her nephew, Cayden Bradley, also at home; paternal grandmother, Sue Griffis of Bourbon;
maternal grandfather, Marv Wickens of Mentone, along with several aunts, uncles and friends.
Visitation services will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Deaton-Clemens
Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, Ind. and for one hour before services in the
church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. at Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Bourbon, Ind.
The family requests any memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice or to the
Triton Class Senior Trip in her memory.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of local arrangements.

Danny Eugene Swanson
ROCHESTER — Danny Eugene Swanson, 62, of Skyview Lane, Rochester, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at 7: 30 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Burkett) Swanson; a daughter, Shelly (Bill) Armour, of Mill
Creek, Ind.; four sons: Doug Swanson of LaPorte, Ind., Ray Swanson of LaPorte, Dan J. (Misty)
Swanson of Rochester and Matt Swanson of Rochester; four grandchildren; a sister, Tina
Combs of New Tazewell. Tenn.; a brother, Chuck (Rose) Swanson of Rochester, numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins and pets.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services
Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Athens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Faith Outreach Church.

Wilma Jean Alderfer
ARGOS – Wilma Jean Alderfer, 84, of 8841 18th Rd., Argos, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at1: 53
p.m. at Hickory Creek of Rochester following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 2, 1924 in
Walnut to Lawrence and Mary (Biddinger) Bodey. On Nov. 11, 1945 at the Walnut Gospel
Church of Walnut, she married Weldon C. Alderfer.
Wilma graduated with the class of 1942 from Argos High School where she was the salutatorian
and had perfect attendance all 12 years of school. Living all of her life in the Argos community,
she retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation – Plymouth Sub-District as manager
where she had worked from 1961 to 1987. She also served two terms as the Walnut Township
Trustee and was a precinct committeeman for years.
She was involved with local children evangelism with Betty Murdick and taught Sunday School
classes for many years. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Rochester.
She and her husband also helped with local foster children.
She is survived by her husband, Weldon C. Alderfer of Argos; son, Roger L. (Elaine) Alderfer of
Greenfield; daughter, Gloria (Kenneth) Smith of Argos; step granddaughter, Suzette (Douglas)
Bergstedt of Logansport; four step great-grandchildren: and sister, Mary Ellen (Allen) Trump of Argos.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Francis Lowe.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 8 pm at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at the
funeral home with Rev. Don English and Rev. Wayne Speicher officiating. Burial will be at
Richland Center cemetery, Argos.

Rev. Fred, Jr Crown
PLAINWELL, Mich. — Rev. Fred Crown Jr., 88, of Plainwell, Mich., formerly of Mount Vernon,
Ohio, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo Mich.
He is survived by daughters: Nancy (Rev. Merlyn) Jones of Ostego, Mich., Patricia Kemp of San
Antonio, Texas and Penny Collins of Mt. Orab, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and his brother, Francis (Evie) Crown of Ankeny, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Burial
will follow at Mound View cemetery in Mount Vernon. Visitation is at the church Friday from noon
until time of the service at 2 p.m.
The Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon, Ohio, is in charge of the arrangements.

Harold C. "Gibby" Gibbons
ROCHESTER — Harold C. “Gibby” Gibbons, 85, of Rochester, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7,
2008 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Gibbons; sons: H. Devon Gibbons and companion Chris
Newell of Rochester and Don L. (Walter Howard) Gibbons of San Francisco, Calif.; one
grandson; sister, Katherine Hatten of Indianapolis; and brothers: Robert (Joyce) Gibbons of
Plymouth and Frank (Jean) Gibbons of Cold Spring, Texas.
Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester,
and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at
the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery. Military graveside rites will be
conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion and the VFW.

Betty Marie Haag
PLYMOUTH – Betty Marie Haag, 78, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008,
at 4: 30 p.m., at her residence, 15589 W. 7th Rd., Plymouth.
Born in Plymouth on Sept. 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Ellen Marie Stuckey Shafer.
She graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1949.
On Jan. 13, 1952, at the Tyner E.U.B. church, Betty and Paul K. “Bud” Haag were married .
Paul and Betty purchased a farm and raised registered Black Angus cattle. As a family, they
were very active in 4-H.
Betty worked for Bomarko in Plymouth for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Her family, especially her grandchildren, were most dear to Betty. She enjoyed attending Angus
cattle shows. She was celebrated as being an excellent cook and housekeeper.
Betty is survived by her husband, “Bud, ” and their son, Michael Paul and daughter-in-law, Peggy,
and by their daughter Margaret Marie and son-in-law, James Berger, all of Plymouth.
Her grandchildren, Michael and Peggy’s children, Jeremy Haag of Jefferson, Ga. and Chad
Haag of Plymouth and Margaret and James’ children, Kim Berger of Leland, Ill. and Jason
(Jenny) Berger and great-grandson, Jacob Berger, all of Plymouth, survive as well.
A brother, Eldon (Dodie) Shafer, Plymouth, also survives.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Charles, Vernon and Edward “Babe” Shafer.
The family will welcome friends to share memories Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m.,
and after 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Betty will be held Friday, Dec.12 at 10: 30 a.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Van Houghton, pastor of the Pine Creek Church of the
Brethren where Betty was a member will officiate.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Betty’s memory may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

Deloris L. Hudkins
ROCHESTER — Deloris L. Hudkins, 87, of Avilla, Ind., formerly of Rochester, died Monday,
Dec. 8, 2008 at 9: 25 a.m. at Parkview Noble in Kendallville, Ind.
She is survived by three sons: Stephen Hudkins of Kent, Ohio, Joe (Janine) Hudkins of
Lexington, Ky. And Tom (Patti) Hudkins of Avilla, Ind.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
a sister, Arlene (Emery) Baer of Longansport, Ind. And a brother-in-law, Francis
(Mary) Hudkins of Kewanna, Ind.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Minnie Krynski
DELPHI — Minnie Krynski, 82, of Delphi, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 in Pulaski Memorial
Hospital, Winamac.
She is survived by one grandson, Phillip Rogers; sisters: Elsie (Edgar) Bailey of Knox and Mattie
Watson Young of Mishawaka; brothers: Roy Watson of North Judson and Harley Watson of
Modesto, Calif.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. Central Time at Rannells Funeral Home,
Hamlet Chapel. Burial will be in the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet. Visitation is Friday, Dec. 12 from
3 to 6 p.m. CST and Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association or the
American Diabetes Association.

Karl P. Redweik
SAN PIERRE — Karl P. Redweik, 61, of San Pierre, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his daughter, Karla (Daniel) Kreamer of Winamac; son, Martin (Leslie)
Redweik of Knox; sister: Olga A. Matzat of Culver; brothers: Ewald Redweik of Kewanna and
Rolland Redweik of North Judson; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. CT at the O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc., North
Judson. Funeral services are Friday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at
Highland cemetery, North Judson.
