Robert P. MacKenzie
Robert P. MacKenzie, 76, died Thursday morning, Jan. 24, 2002, at his residence in Muncie. He was born in Evansville, the son of Dr. Pierce and Dorothy Hardigg MacKenzie, and graduated from Bosse High School. He attended the University of Chicago, received his degree in chemistry from Indiana University, his degree in engineering from Purdue University, and his MBA from Ball State University.
Mr. MacKenzie was a metallurgical engineer for Delco Battery for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1986.
He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Muncie Kiwanis Club, Muncie Elks Lodge, and Muncie Sailing Club.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Twyman MacKenzie, to whom he had been married 45 years; two daughters, Trish White (husband, Jonathan) of England and Alison MacKenzie of Seattle, Washington; two granddaughters, Hayley and Olivia White, both of England; his sister, Marcia deLorimier of Williamsburg, Virginia; and his brother, Tom MacKenzie of Sugarland, Texas.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ronald Naylor will officiate. The family will receive friends following services at the church.
Memorials may be sent to The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., or to the charity of the donor?s choice.

Phoebe Roberson
Phoebe M. Roberson, 98, of Evansville, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at CORE Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was a stage actress for Actors Equity and travelled extensively doing various plays and performances.
Surviving are a niece and caregiver, Freda Green.
There will be no services or visitation at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel. The body will be cremated.
Richard Shepard
Richard P. "Dick" Shepard, 65, of Wauwatosa, Wis., formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Wauwatosa.
He retired from the health-care field in 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Carol (Raven); two daughters, Kelly Spalding and Jennifer Shepard; two sons, Richard and Jeff; his mother, Marge Shepard; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 22 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Wauwatosa.
Carl Arnold
TELL CITY — Carl W. Arnold, 79, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at St. Mary?s Medical Center in Evansville.
He retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations in 1986.
Surviving are his wife, Leoma (Smith); a daughter, Nancy Hodde; two sons, John and Gary Arnold; four sisters, Doretha Horlander, Alice Wittmer, Virginia Aldridge and Mildred Williams; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with a St. Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Helen Joines
TENNYSON — Helen Cleo (Skaggs) Joines, 74, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Baker?s Rest Haven in Boonville.
She worked for more than 20 years at Farbest Foods in Huntingburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda G. Uppencamp; four sons, Larry, Harold, Gene and Leo Joines; two sisters, Betty Becker and Alberta Hester; a brother, Coy Skaggs; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Harmony Baptist Church in Clifty, Ky., with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville, Ky., and from noon to service time Tuesday at the church.
Robert Kidd
WASHINGTON — Robert L. Kidd, 73, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Daviess Community Hospital.
He worked for McCord Manufacturing for 21 years and retired from People?s Bank.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Spaulding); two daughters, Lisa M. Marsh and Lori A. Haag; a sister, Margaret Steffen; a brother, John M. Kidd; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ed Lee Mortuary, with a parish rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Catherine McFall
JASPER — Catherine McFall, 72, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Surviving is a sister, Barbara McFall.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Helen Swartz
WASHINGTON — Helen Marie (Shepherd) Swartz, 81, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Daviess Community Hospital.
She retired from General Electric in Danville, Ill.
Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Foster and Harriett Myers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Walter Golden Jr.
Walter H. Golden Jr., 72, of Evansville, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital.
He had worked in the paint department at Whirlpool Corp.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Golden; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Alexander West Chapel, burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard E. Joest
Richard E. "Rick" Joest, 73, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at his residence. Rick's career spanned 47 years at In- terstate Credit Thrift and what is now American General. He began in Interstate's mail room at the age of 15. He advanced through the company as a junior and senior accounting clerk, accounting supervisor, branch accounting supervisor and assistant treasurer. Leaving American General in 1990, Rick held the most seniority of any American General employee.
He was a staff sergeant in the National Guard for 11 years.
Rick was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church since 1961. He was a 55-year member of Knights of Columbus 565, a member of St. Vincent de Paul, North Side Civitan, the Jaycees and Junior Achievement. He was a volunteer for Right to Life.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Rose (Fulton) Joest of Evansville; a daughter, Sheila Williams of Evansville; two sons, Sidney and Scott Joest, both of Evansville; his mother, Alma C. Joest of Evansville; a brother, Raymond Joest of Evansville; and grandchildren, Khara and Kent Williams and Eliza and Anna Joest.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, continued at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Rev. Eugene Schmitt and Joseph Seibert officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, January 28, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at Browning Funeral Home.
