Janet A. Gregory Bean
PLYMOUTH — Janet A. Gregory Bean, 59, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 in Plymouth.

She is survived by her husband, Richard N. Bean of Plymouth; son, Jeffrey Bean of Hobart;
brother, Robert (Barbara) Gregory of Donaldson; and half sisters: Patricia Samples and Pamela
Conner, both of Alabama.

Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 28 after 7 a.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Nathan E. Collins
BOURBON — Nathan E. Collins, 18 years old and a resident of 711 E. Center St. Bourbon,
passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Nathan was born the son of Gary J. and Rosemary Yockey Collins in Bremen, on May 31, 1989.
He was a senior at Triton High School and a resident of the community all his life.

He loved golfing and spending time with his friends and family. He and his family attended the
Riverside United Methodist Church.

Nathan is survived by his parents, his two sisters; Danielle Collins and Jeanna Collins, both at
home, his maternal grandmother, Mary Jean Yockey, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Services were held Saturday in his church and burial followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at
Bourbon.

The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Marshall County Community
Foundation, Nathan Collins Scholarship, in his memory.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Eldon G. Clark
GOSHEN — Eldon G. Clark, 85 of Goshen, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 in the Goshen General
Hospital.

He is survived by a daughter, Reva (Donald) Noel of Goshen; son, Larry (Betty) Clark of Fort
Wayne; four grandchildren; 11-great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A graveside service at Westlawn cemetery, North Liberty, is pending.

Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, is handling the arrangements.

Jack Denton
ROCHESTER — Jack Denton, 67, of Rochester, died at 5:05 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007 at Life Care Center
of Rochester.
He is survived by sisters: Julia Wagner of Green Bay, Wis., Virginia “Sis” Heady of Rochester
and June Ann Carson of Everett, Wash.; and brother, Bob Denton of Kewanna.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 in the Good Family Funeral Home,
Rochester.
Jack’s body was donated to the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Memorials may be made to Manitou Training Center of Rochester.

Marilyn Jane Gilmer
BREMEN — Marilyn Jane Gilmer, 83, of Bremen, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at the Community
Hospital of Bremen. Survivors include one daughter, Irma (Saul) Frank of Saddlebrook,
Ariz.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother: John D. (Shirley) Smith; two
sisters: Laveda Ellis of Denver, N.C. and Ann Gilbert of Elkhart; and sister-in-law, June Smith of
Bremen.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Mishler Funeral Home in
Bremen. Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time
of services on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111
Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.

John Franklin Border
BOURBON — John Franklin Border, 101, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

He was born April 22, 1906 to Lawrence and Nellie (Greer) Border. On Aug. 2, 1931 he married
Gladys Ruth Watkins, who passed away Feb. 27, 1995.

John was a lifetime Bourbon resident. He was a farmer and owned and operated Border’s
Hatchery and Border TV Service for many years.

Survivors are two sons: Robert and wife Zada Border, and Jerry and wife Mari Lynn Border all of
Bourbon. His two daughters: Sarah and husband Don Feldman of South Bend and Shirley and
husband Ellsworth Everest of Warsaw. His faithful caregiver for the past five years was Millie
Myers. John was blessed with seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate John’s life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. in DeatonClemens
Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Vale officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the
funeral home.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Wauneta Patterson Martin
BREMEN — Born in Bremen Oct. 28, 1916 to Goldie Mae (Hanes) and Charles Everett
Patterson, Wauneta Patterson Martin from Bremen “went to be with her Savior” early Sunday
morning, Sept. 30, 2007 at the age of 90.

She was rehabilitating from a stroke.

After attending first grade in Bremen her parents moved to Bourbon Township and then to the
town of Bourbon where she remained a lifelong resident.

A graduate of Bourbon High School, class of 1934, Wauneta remained in contact with her
classmates throughout her life.

June 23, 1935 was the wedding day of Wauneta and her beloved husband, Harold K. Martin,
and in 1947, their son was born, Michael Max.

From her high school years through the late 30s, Wauneta worked at Kraft Tearoom in busy
downtown Bourbon, and in he early to mid 40s, she was an assistant to Mr. Burt Harris at the
Bourbon News-Mirror. As a stay-at-home mom, Wauneta served the community through the
Bourbon Progress Club of which she was a founding and final member.

In the mid-60s, Wauneta re-entered the work world and retired from the Plymouth Parkview
Hospital lab as Secretary bookkeeper in 1988.

Wauneta’s family worshiped at the Fairview United Brethren Church Bourbon, and the Bourbon
First EUB, which merged with the First Methodist Church. She has been a faithful member of the
First United Methodist Church, Bourbon, since the merger.

Wauneta was preceded in death by her brother William in 1944 and her husband in 1994. She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nila Martin and two grandchildren, Cindy
(and Steve) Livingston, Indianapolis, and Dan Evans, Detroit. A great-grandchild, Alexander
Livingston, was born in May of 2007. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Max
and Annette Patterson of Pullman, Washington.

Wauneta’s joy was in the love that she shared with others — family, early friends, school friends,
work friends, business friends, community friends and neighbors, church friends, old friends,
lasting friends and new friends. Her affections and appreciations of that love amplified in the
blessedness of her neighbors and friends, Jeff and Karen Worsham, and the kindness and
compassion of the Plymouth Hospital nurses, all the folks at Bremen’s Doctor’s Hospital who
allowed her to live out the abundant life that Christ offers.

Burial will be private in the Sand Ridge cemetery at Bourbon.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Wauneta’s life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m.in the
Bourbon First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Day officiating.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Chester Landis
BREMEN — Chester Landis, 85, of Bremen, died at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at home

Survivors include his wife, Hester of Bremen; daughter, Deborah (Richard) Jeter of Indianapolis;
daughter-in-law: Maria Landis of Houston, Texas; three grandsons; and three great-grandsons.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Visitation
is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Bremen cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America, American Cancer
Society or the American Heart Association.

Shirley JoAnn Trapp
ROCHESTER — Shirley JoAnn Trapp, 71, of Rochester, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at
home. She was born Aug. 14, 1936 in White County to John Chester and Mable Bailey Young.
On June 16, 1984 in Carroll County, she married Meredith “Butch” Trapp.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Ristance in Argos, a bank in Culver and Kroger of

Rochester. She retired from Daimler Chrysler after 11 years. She was a member of the 1st
Church of God in Rochester and the Farm Bureau. She was also a member of the Logansport
F.O.E. and the United Auto Workers. She played Bunco, enjoyed sewing and collecting dolls.
She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Meredith “Butch” Trapp; daughter, Dawn (David) Mann of
Plymouth; sons: Jeff (Barb) Mishler of Avon and Kurt Mishler of Culver; 10 grandchildren:
Charity, Emily, Jill, Aaron, Raena, Dana, Josh, Dennis, Sarah and Harrison; sister, Norma
Braden of Rochester; brothers: Dick (Lois) Nilson of Twelve Mile and Stephen (Betty) Olinger of
Nappanee; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Jim Young and Ronnie Young.

Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 4 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.

Funeral services are Friday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Larry Dodge will officiate.

Burial will be at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation and to the Crippled Children’s
Foundation.

Ralph R. Burch
LAPORTE — Ralph R. Burch, 84, of LaPorte, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 at LaPorte
Hospital.

He is survived by a sister, Rose Ann Hampshire of New Carlisle; friend, Lorna Cooksey of
LaPorte; and two nephews: Raymond Charles Wade and Steven Joseph (Teresa) Wade, all of
New Carlisle.

Funeral services are Monday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. CDT at the First United Methodist Church,
LaPorte.

Burial will be at the New Carlisle cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1229 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, IN
46350.

Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, is in charge of the arrangements.
