Patricia A. Renz
PLYMOUTH — Patricia A. “Pat” Renz, a resident of Plymouth since 1953, coming from Chicago,
died unexpectedly of natural causes in her home, 800 S. Michigan St., Plymouth, at 10:14 a.m.
on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007. She was 81-years-old.
Born in Erie, Pa., on Jan. 21, 1926, Pat was the daughter of Jesse B. and Winifred Brandt Howe.
She graduated in 1943 from Strong Vincent High School in Erie. She then received her
certification as a Medical Technologist from what is now Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio.
On July 3, 1948, in Erie, Pat and James T. Renz were married
. Jim died 10 years ago on Jan.
31, 1997.
Pat first served as a Medical Technologist for Erie’s St. Vincent Hospital, also Goshen General
and completed her career at Parkview/Saint Joseph Hospital in Plymouth. She retired in 1988,
but continued to volunteer at various health screening events in the community.
A homemaker for her family, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. A smile for everyone, she
loved to cook and garden.
An avid follower of Plymouth athletics, she attended all of the games, especially enjoying those
of her children and grandchildren. For years she occupied the front row for nearly every home
basketball game.
A member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, her pleasant demeanor served her well as a
“greeter” before Mass. She was a former active member of the Tri Kappa Sorority and was
presently an Associate member. She and her husband volunteered as Republican precinct
workers for many years.
Pat is survived by her two daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They
are Sharon L. (Jack) Samar of Woodbridge, Va., and children: Jaime (Steve) Gramatikos, Jack
Joseph “J.J.” Samar III, and Jordan (Kevin) McCormick and great-granddaughter, MacKenzie.
Daughter: Robin L. (Scott) Stamm of Warsaw, and their children, Megan, Matthew and Kyle
Stamm. Son: Gregory A. (Mercy) Renz of Plymouth, and their children, Andrew, Jason, Jeremy
and Lindsay Renz and son: Bryan H. Renz also of Plymouth and his children, Ericka and Ashley
Renz.
A son, James D. Renz, preceded his mother in death on May 7, 2005. Pat’s parents, spouse
and a sister, Marjorie Kolar, have also died.
Friends are invited to celebrate the life and share memories of Pat Renz with her family on
Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth. A Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Pat on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s
Roman Catholic Church, 611, N. Center St. Plymouth. The Rev. Father William Kummer, pastor
of the church will officiate.
Interment will follow in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Pat’s memory are requested for the Plymouth Athletic
Department, #1 Big Red Drive, Plymouth, IN 46563 or the St. Michael’s Parish

Alba Daly
BREMEN — Alba Daly, 78, of Bremen, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at Bremen Health Care
Center.
She is survived by a son, Peter (Dawn Pack) Daly of Bremen; daughter, Christine (Kevin) White
of Snellville, Ga.; brother, Alfio Piraccini of Mishawaka; and one grandson.
Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 11 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Funeral services are Friday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Fairview cemetery, Mishawaka.

Staten Island, NY 10305.
Paul "Red" Davidson
LEITERS FORD — Paul “Red” Davidson, 90, of Leiters Ford, died at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at
home.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Davidson of Leiters Ford; daughters: Laura J. Davidson
and companion Nora Skolnick of Brain Tree, Vt. And Paula L. (Jerry) Richardson of Leesburg;
three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service in the church.
Burial will be at Leiters Ford cemetery. The American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars will
conduct military graveside rites.
Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.

Anthony Frederick, III Plothow
PLYMOUTH — Anthony Fredrick “Fritz” Plothow III, of Leiters Ford, formerly of Plymouth, died,
following a brief illness, at 9:05 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in Community North Hospital,
Indianapolis. His loving wife and four children were by his side.
Fritz was a little over three weeks shy of his 76th birthday.
Born on Oct. 31, 1931, in Peru, he was the son of Anthony Fredrick Plothow Jr., and Wilma
LaVon Henry Plothow.
He graduated with the class of 1949 from Bunker Hill High School and the Pharmacy School of
Purdue University. He also was a graduate of the 1957 class of the University of Chicago School
of Medicine.
Fritz served in the United States Army in World War II as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps.
On Sept. 21, 1963, Fritz and Patricia L. McIntosh were married
in Leiters Ford.
Fritz worked for Pitman-Moore Pharmaceuticals in Chicago and then for Dow Chemical Co. He
was a pharmacist his entire career, working in the Plymouth area for 20 years. He retired in 1994
An avid sports fan, he followed Purdue University, the Chicago Bears and Cubs and, his all time
favorite teams, the Plymouth Rockies and Pilgrims.
Fritz was a life-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed
in the Washington, D.C. Temple in Sept. of 1982.
Fritz is survived by his loving wife of 44 years and their four children: Anthony F. (Carin) Plothow
IV, Plymouth: Karen C. (Howard) Menser, Crestwood, Ky.: Tracey E. (Ken) O’Dell, Noblesville
and Edward A. “Alex” (Janna) Plothow, also of Noblesville.
Seventeen grandchildren also survive. They are Karen and Howard’s two children: Whitney and
Keith: Tony and Carin’s children: Allie, Heather, Tyler, Andria, Haley, Reagan, Audie and Annie:
Tracey and Ken’s children: Jared, Jamen, Jordan, Ashtin and MaKenna and Edward and Alex’s
children: Skylar and Jace.
Two great-grandchildren survive as well. They are Nevaeh and Paige.
Three brothers: Roger, Richard and Steven Plothow of Utah survive, together with two sisters,
Wanda Mosser of California and Susie Werner of Utah. Numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents and by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Plothow who
died on Nov. 15, 1965. His in-laws, Woodie and Wilma McGlathin, also preceded Fritz in death.
Friends are invited by Fritz’s family to share memories and celebrate his life on Friday, Oct. 12,
2007, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in the funeral home.
Howard Menser, Fritz’s son-in-law, will preside over the service.
Interment will be in the Leiters Ford IOOF cemetery, Leiters Ford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be given in Fritz’s memory to the Tracey
Plothow O’Dell Pancreas Transplant Fund, c/o Lake City Bank, Plymouth.
Craig A. Tuttle
PLYMOUTH — Craig A. Tuttle, 48, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 at Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife, Jane A. Tuttle of Plymouth; daughters: Danielle (Ryan) Tyner of
Plymouth and Melissa Tuttle of Mishawaka; son, Brian Tuttle of Bremen; mother and stepfather,
Carol and Wayne Hochstetler of Plymouth; and sister, Lori (Chris) Shaumber of Bremen.
Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 15 after 7 a.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, Plymouth.Funeral services are Monday, Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the
funeral home.
Burial will be at Walnut cemetery, Argos.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mary E. Smith Welch
BOURBON – A graveside memorial service for Mary E. Smith Welch, 93, who died Oct. 10,
2007, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12 in the Sandridge cemetery. The cemetery is
located Northeast of Bourbon on 8th Road.
She is survived by two brothers and a sister. They are John V. and Opal Jackson of Naples, Fla.,
and Robert “Dale” and Shirley Jackson of Bourbon and Ruth Ellen Alderfer of Lafayette.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is in charge of the arrangements.
Alice M. Mikesell
CULVER — Alice M. Mikesell, 91, of Culver, passed away at 4:17 p.m. Oct. 11, 2007 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Alice was born Oct. 24, 1915 in Toledo, Ohio to Arthur and Minnie (Thayer) Handy. On Oct 6,
1934, she married
Donald E. Mikesell in Plymouth. Mr. Mikesell preceded her in death on Jan. 8,
1984. Her son, Robert, also preceded her in death in July 2001.
A long-time resident of Culver, Alice worked as a cook for several years at the State Exchange
Bank in Culver. She also worked as a cook for Schori’s and Price’s Restaurants in Plymouth.
She was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the local VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Alice was well-known throughout Culver as the lady who often baked dozens of pies in a
weekend and loved to decorate her home for the different holidays. She loved to bake and share
home-made pies, apple dumplings, and tea cakes with family, friends, and neighbors. She was a
very caring, giving person who enjoyed sharing her life with others, especially on a dance floor.
For many years, the address on School Street provided the neighborhood with a beautiful array
of flowers that bloomed from early spring to fall.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Janet Lowe of Rochester; son, Donald W. (Carolann) Mikesell
of Muncie; grandchildren: Greg (Donna) Lowe of Rochester, Pam Lowe of Rochester, Jeff
(Cynda) Lowe of Indianapolis, Todd (Anne) Mikesell of Golden, Colo. And Kristen (Joe) Mattoni
of Seattle, Wash.; and great-grandchildren: Ashley and Austin Lowe of Rochester, Conner Lowe
of Indianapolis, and Katie, Blaire, and Jack Mikesell of Golden, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, three sisters, and three brothers.
Rev. Bryan Siefert will officiate memorial services at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at Bonine-Odom
Funeral Home, Culver with a short visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Memorials may be given
to Culver-Union Township Fire Department, the Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 Ladies Auxiliary,
or a charity of the donor’s choice and can be sent to Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, 104 E
