Donald R. Neidlinger
CULVER — Donald R. “Don” Neidlinger, 70, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died of natural
causes at his residence, 16682 14 B Rd., Culver, at 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007,
where he had lived since 1965.
Born in Tyner, on Nov. 22, 1936, the son of Fay O. and Marjorie Kelver Neidlinger, Don was
raised in Culver.
He graduated from Culver High School with the class of 1954, and earned his Ferrier Certificate
from Michigan State University. He also received an associates degree in equine science.
In his younger years, he raced horses and remained a ferrier until December of this past year.
He was an expert field tile installer for over 40 years through his company, Neidlinger Drainage.
An avid sportsman he enjoyed coon hunting and raising fox terriers and coon dogs.
Musically talented, Don played the saxophone and stand-up bass with the band, “Cardiac Kids”
made up of various family members and friends.
Don was proud to be a longtime charter member of the “Culver Liars Club.”
He is survived by two daughters and two sons and soon-to-be eight grandchildren.
His daughters and their families are: Donna G. Greene, Culver and children, Chevy “Dodge”
Porter and Johnathon George Hopple; and Angela Neidlinger and Tim Weist, Argos, with
children, Robert Allen Green II, Dugan Vaughn Green, Allison Weist and the anticipated arrival
of Peyton Timothy Weist.
His sons are John P. Neidlinger, Plymouth, with daughter Kaitlin Dean Stone: and Casey B. and
Angie Neidlinger, Greenwood with son Elijah David Neidlinger.
Two sisters: Joan and Francis Zink, Culver, and Jean and Clem Miller, Rochester, together with
numerous nieces and nephews, survive as well.
Don was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Morris and three brothers: Ralph, Glen and Robert
“Sam” Neidlinger.
Friends are invited to share memories of Don’s life with his family on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007,
from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, in the funeral home.
Tom Padberg, Chaplain of the Marshall County Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, will
officiate.
Burial will be in the Culver Masonic cemetery, Culver.
Memorial gifts in Don’s name may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 S.
Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563.

Betty J. Wicks
HOUSTON, TEXAS — Betty J. Wicks, who in life found comfort in the Word of God, now enjoys
eternal peace in the presence of her loving Savior.
Betty, a former Marshall county resident, died this past week of natural causes at the age of 78.
She has made Houston her home for the past 10 years.
Betty was born in Huntington County, Indiana, on August 22, 1929, the daughter of Charles J.
Sr., and Hilda L. Kuschel Wicks and had attended Muncie schools.
Betty is survived by four sisters and two brothers.
Her sisters are: JoAnn and Robert Powers, LaPaz: Carolyn I. Wicks and Mary A. Wicks, both of
Plymouth: and Linda L. and Fred Holdeman, Lakeville.
Her brothers are Charles H. and Violet Wicks and David J. Wicks, all of Plymouth.
Several nieces and nephews and their families survive as well.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Robert D. Wicks.
Friends will be invited by the family to celebrate her life and share memories on Wednesday,
January 10, 2007, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the New Oakhill cemetery Chapel located on S.
Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow visitation in the Chapel at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial gifts in Betty's memory may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mary I. Huggins
WINONA LAKE — Mary I. Huggins, 70, of Winona Lake, died Friday, Jan. 5.
She is survived by her husband: Thomas Huggins, and two daughters: Donna and Rick
Hackworth of Warsaw and Deb and Joe Cosgrove of Anderson; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild
and one sister.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S.
Main St., Bourbon.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Carl Adams
officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.

Charles L. Jones
PLYMOUTH — Charles L. Jones, age 85, of 2000 Westgate Avenue, #101 A, Plymouth, passed
away at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Charles was born on April 2, 1921 in Plymouth to Elzie and Valira (Palmer) Jones. On March 25,
1944, Charles and Roma G. Taylor were united in marriage in Crawford, Nebraska. Charles
served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked in the construction field all
of his life, and worked for Reese Construction for 25 years.
Charles is survived by his wife of, 62 years, Roma G. Jones, their daughters, Judi and Bill Xaver
of Plymouth and Carol and Robert Yonn of Harlem, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren,
and one more on the way; his sisters, Esther Klapp of Plymouth, Mary Smith of
Millersburg, Hazel Strickler of Millersburg, Margaret Wolfinger of Millersburg, Barbara Bayse of
Fort Wayne, and Betty Sullivan of Plymouth; and his brother, Harry R. Jones of Wallport, Ore.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Steven Leroy Jones and his brother William H. Jones
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL
HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, Ind., 46563 with Joann Boys officiating.
Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
A time of visiting and sharing memories with Charles’ family, will be Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at
the Van Gilder Funeral Home.
The Jones family requests that memorial contributions be made, in Charles’ name, to the
American Diabetes Association, Northwestern Indiana Local Association, 10872 Queen Road,
Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Marian Kintzel
WAKARUSA — Marian Kintzel, 98, of Wakarusa, died Friday, Jan. 5.
She is survived by one daughter: Karen and Jim Wright of Thorntown, Ind.; one son: Craig
Kintzel of Florida; one sister: Helen Watts of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bremen.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s with Pastor Neil Wonnacutt officiating.
Burial will be in Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunshine Pod (Alzheimer’s Unit) at Miller’s Merry
Manor, 300 N. Washington St., Wakarusa, IN 46573 or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bremen.

Jerry W. Pullins
WALKERTON — Jerry W. Pullins, 33, of Walkerton, died Friday, Jan. 5.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Lynn and Elson Barden of Walkerton; father, Joe
Pullins of Rensselaer; one daughter, Kelsey of Knox; grandparents Beulah and Tom Dollahan of
Walkerton; one step-brother, Eric Barden of Koontz Lake; and three step-sisters, Bridget
Barden, Gina Green and Missy Knizner of Koontz Lake.
Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. CST at the funeral home, with Pastor D.I. VanDyne
officiating.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.

Violet Dempsey
PLYMOUTH — Violet Dempsey, 90, of Plymouth, died on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at 6 a.m. in
Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene M. Dempsey, and her son, Roger H. Story, both of
Plymouth; and four grandchildren.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, is handling the arrangements. A graveside service will take
place on Friday in Amboy, Ill.

Roger Doyle Treece
CHURUBUSCO — Roger Doyle Treece, 68, a resident of Churubusco, died at 11:15 a.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at The Oaks Living Center, Columbia City where he had been a resident
since July 2006.
He was born July 13, 1938 in Columbia City a son of Claude and Mary Alice (Reed) Treece. His
formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School in
1957.
On Feb. 18, 1958 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged
Feb. 17, 1964.
On Dec. 30, 1962 he was united in marriage to Betty H. Reimer. They made their home in
Tunker for a year, Thorncreek Township for over 20 years, Columbia City for three years and
Smith Township for five years. In December 1994 they moved to Boynton Beach, Florida until
June 2000 when they moved to their home in Churubusco.
He was employed at Auer Oil Company for several years, was a truck driver for Columbia
Freight Lines and later Bohrn Trucking, worked for Magnavox 12 years and was a security guard
in a residential subdivision in Florida.
His memberships include Faith Lutheran Church in Churubusco, Eagles #1906, V.F.W. #5582
and Leatherneck Coffee Club.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty; a daughter, Kathy (David) Steiss of Columbia City; two
grandsons, Andrew DeWitt and Mitchell DeWitt; three step grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony
(Helen) Treece and Charles (Barbara) Treece, both of Columbia City; and two sisters, Beverly
(Paul) Chappel of Columbia City and Margaret (Elmer) Schrock of Ransom, Kan.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Smith & Sons
Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Lane Burgland, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church,
officiating. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The burial will be in Eberhard cemetery with military honors presented.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church, Leatherneck Coffee
Club or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.

Floy Marie Mayer
PLYMOUTH — Floy Marie Mayer, 83, of 805 Baker St., Lot 73, died of natural causes at 6:04
a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born in Hillsboro, Ill., the daughter of Eury B. and Floy Belle Cannon Strange on Aug. 7, 1923,
Floy graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1941.
On Feb. 21, 1943, she and Charles J. “Chop” Mayer were married in Hillsboro.
Later, he and Floy, lived in Saginaw, Mich., the national headquarters of Wickes Corp, where
Chop worked in the electrical and heating division. The Mayers, still with Wickes, moved to
Plymouth in 1972. In 1980 they bought Delp Electric and opened Mayer Plumbing and Heating,
operating the business for more than 14 years.
Floy was an excellent bridge player and she enjoyed that game as well as many others. A great
cook, she was also a skilled seamstress. She helped to edit her son John’s books and learned
— late in life — to master the computer.
She is survived by “Chop, ” her husband of nearly 64 years and by their daughter, Barbara J.
Way of Saginaw, Mich.
A sister, Jeri Landholt of Plymouth and a grandson Jason Way together with his girlfriend,
Heather Hubbard, of Los Angeles, Calif.; granddaughter, Mandy Patterson and her husband
Nick of Saginaw, Mich. and Loretta Strange, a sister-in-law, of Chattanooga, Tenn., also survive.
Floy was preceded in death by her son, John R. Mayer; a son-in-law, John M. Way; a brother
and sister-in-law, Reginald and Margaret Strange; a brother, Elston Strange; and a brother-inlaw,
H. Byron Landholt.
Friends will be welcomed to celebrate the life of Floy Mayer with her family on Thursday, Jan. 11,
2007, from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Walnut St., Plymouth.
A memorial service for Floy will follow visitation at noon in the church where she was a longtime
member. The Rev. Paul Nye, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Memorial gifts in Floy’s name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Wayne Price
PLYMOUTH — Harold Wayne Price, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, living at 11821 7B Rd.
since 1960, became ill at home and died suddenly of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth, at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007. He was 86 years old.
Harold was born in Plymouth on Feb. 21, 1920, the son of Walter E. and Irene V. Trease Price.
Following the death of his mother at the age of 2, he was raised by his stepmother Iris Jacoby
Price.
He was a graduate of Plymouth’s Lincoln High School, class of 1938
Harold served in World War II, with the Pacific Headquarters of the Air Transport Command,
Division of the Air Force. He was active duty from Jan. 1943 - Feb. 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. He
was stationed at Hickam Field, next to Pearl Harbor.
On Aug. 30, 1941, Harold and Regina E. Emenaker were married in Plymouth. Regina died on
September 23, 1999. In their 58 years together, the couple were happily married and vastly
supportive of one another.
Harold worked for Ball Band in Mishawaka and Studebaker of South Bend. He was manager of
the Walter Price Abattoir for many years and was known for his honesty and reserved manner of
providing customer service.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 27 and a member of the Indiana Meat Packers
Association who had served on the Board of Directors.
Always a proud father and grandfather, he was never happier than when the family was together
having fun.
Harold is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Sue Price of Argos, and by their
children: granddaughters, Angela A. and Kristen M. Price, Plymouth: Ronda D. Leffert, Sunbury,
Pennsylvania: Melinda J. and John Erdley, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and their children, Heather
Leffert and Troy Erdley.
Also surviving is his daughter and son-in-law and their families, Jean A. and Dean Lemler,
Bluffton, Indiana. Their children are grandsons: David W. and Suzanne Lemler, Indianapolis,
Indiana: Jeffery D. and Jamie Lemler, Bluffton, Indiana: Kevin R. and Tracy Lemler with children:
Courtney, Kirtlynn and Samantha Lemler all of Liberty Center, Indiana: and Mark E. and Maria
Lemler, Uniondale, Indiana.
Numerous nieces and nephews survive as well, together with a brother-in-law, Dr. John Bottorff,
Sr. Plymouth, and Maxine Myers, a sister-in-law, also of Plymouth.
Friends are invited to celebrate the life of Harold Price with his family on Thursday, January 11,
2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.,
Plymouth. Visitation will continue after 7 a.m. on Friday until time of services, with the family
present one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, in the funeral home. The Rev.
Charles Krieg, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen, will officiate.
Interment will be in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in memory of Harold may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic School.
