Robin Kay Pogue
PLYMOUTH — Robin Kay Pogue, 40, died at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at the Life
Care Center of Rochester.
Robin was born in Plymouth on Dec. 21, 1966 to Eugene S. and Barbara J. (Ross) Mangun. On
Sept. 10, 1988 Robin and Karl P. Pogue were united in marriage.
Robin was a long time employee at Indiana Heat in Plymouth. She enjoyed crafts, reading,
playing pool, and fishing, she had many various interests.
Survivors include her husband Karl P. Pogue, her two daughters Sierra Pogue and Ecilra Shotts
and son Karl “Paulie” Pogue; one grandson, Justus Shotts; her mother, Barbara Ross-Mangun,
all of Plymouth; three brothers: Lance Mangun of Clayton, Mich., Ross Mangun of Plymouth and
Vince Mangun of Indianapolis; a grandmother, Arlene Ross of North Liberty; her mother-in-law,
Esther Rylands of Peru; and two brother-in-laws: Danny and Sue Tyler with their children of
Peru, and Kurt and Karen Pogue with their children of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her father Eugene S. Mangun, a grandmother Clara Mangun and
a grandfather Worth Ross.
Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life of Robin Pogue, with her family on
Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth. There will be no other services.
Memorial contribution may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donald Rockne, Sr. Ralph
PLYMOUTH — Donald Rockne Ralph Sr., 75, of Plymouth, died on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at
Heritage Health Care Center, West Lafayette.
He is survived by his daughters: Loretta J. Ralph of Hobart and Donna (George) Climer of
Colorado; sons: Donald R. (Tracy) Ralph Jr. of Battleground and Kevin Ralph of Grayslake, Ill.;
and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is handling the arrangements.

Alice M. Rankin
PLYMOUTH — Alice M. Rankin, 89, of 814 North Walnut St., Plymouth, passed away at 1 a.m.
on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Alice was born on Dec. 3, 1917 in Ontario, Ind., to Albert and Charity (Shaw) Cain. On Oct. 19,
1935 Alice married Cecil Rankin. Together they raised their daughter, Dorothy. They lived most
their lives in the Marshall County area. Alice worked for Mecks Engineering, Edgerton’s Basket
Factory, and Dave and Ray’s Supermarket.
Alice was a member of the Moose and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Plymouth. She enjoyed mixed
bowling and playing cards with her friends.
Alice is survived by her husband, of 71 years, Cecil Rankin; their daughter, Dorothy and Bill
Doczy of Plymouth; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by four sisters.
Funeral services for Alice will be on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder
Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St., Plymouth. Burial will take place in New Oak Hill
cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.
A time of visiting and sharing memories with Alice’s family will be at noon on Saturday until the
time of the service at 1 p.m.
The Rankin family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association,
P.O. Box 4204, South Bend, IN 46601.

Jeannette L. Strait
BOURBON — Mrs. Jeannette L. Strait a resident of 15961 Cedar Road, Bourbon, passed away
on Jan. 10, 2007 while wintering in Texas with her husband.
Jan was born April 13, 1937, the daughter of Ignatz Uhrie and Louise Sprague Uhrie at Battle
Creek, Mich.
Jan was united in marriage on June 11, 1960 to Dr. Richard Strait who survives of Bourbon. She
is also survived by her two sisters; Elizabeth Stobbe and Margaret Higgins and her brother,
Laurence Uhrie.
A memorial service is planned for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, at her home of 15961 Cedar
Road with Rev. Mark Day of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church officiating. An open time
of visitation will be from 2 to 5 P p.m. before the memorial services also at her home.
Final internment will be in the Culver Masonic cemetery at Culver.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home of Bourbon is assisting with the arrangements.

Larry A. Sheaks
BOURBON — Larry A. Sheaks, 65, of Bourbon, died Friday, Jan. 12, in Winter Haven Hospital,
Winter Haven, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mae Stine Mason; one son, Derek Sheaks of Texas; four stepchildren,
Johnny Mason of Lincoln, Neb., Jenny and Jim Reichert, Jami and Todd McIntyre and
Jan and Jerry Ulmer, all of Bourbon; 16 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St.,
Bourbon, and for one hour prior to services.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bourbon First United Methodist Church, 204 N.
Washington St., Bourbon, with Rev. Mark Day officiating.
Burial will follow in Parks cemetery, Bourbon, with military burial rites by the Bourbon American
Legion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bourbon First United Methodist Church Camp Fund
in his memory.

Grace H. Dinkledine
BOURBON — Grace H. Dinkledine, 100, of 403 N. Bourbon St., Bourbon, passed away at 10:30
p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Grace was born Oct. 29, 1906 in Marshall County (Twin Lakes area), the daughter of Clint
Holem and Margaret Botorff Holem. She grew up in the Plymouth area until she married then
she moved to Bourbon. Grace was a graduate of Plymouth High School with the Class of 1925.
She then began her career as a bank teller where she worked for the next 76 years. She first
worked in the Plymouth area and then for the past 58 years for the First State Bank of Bourbon
until she retired in 1998. She loved her family and friends that included her Ladies Go & Grow
group at her church and the Just So Club. She also loved to knit. Grace was a faithful member
of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
Grace was married Nov. 13, 1930 to Ivo Dinkledine. He passed away Oct. 18, 1970.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann (Phil) Dennie of Bourbon; two grandchildren: Kathy
(Jim) Press of Kouts and Mike (Donna) Dennie of Bourbon; four great-grandchildren; four step
great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Bernice Methia and Marcile Born and a brother, L.J.
Holem.
A celebration of Grace’s life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 in the Deaton-Clemens
Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon with Rev. Mark Cottrill officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Parks cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bourbon First United Methodist Church in her memory.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Jesse C. Hartung
BOURBON — Jesse C. Hartung, 68, 7050 Lincoln Highway, Bourbon, passed away Saturday,
Jan. 13, 2007 at 6:58 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Jesse was born on April 6, 1938 in Plymouth, to Clyde and Helen (Long) Hartung. On Nov. 14,
1975 Jesse and Jane (Bocko) Athans were married .
Jesse was a graduate of Plymouth High School in the Class of 1957. He worked for the Local
Finance Company, in Plymouth. He then went to Monticello and was the manager of the Local
Finance Company in Monticello. In 1966 he joined the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department.
He retired as a detective in 1977. Jesse and Jane then purchased the Red Door Restaurant in
Bourbon. After they sold the restaurant, Jesse went to work for Explorer Vans in Warsaw. Jesse
was the inventor and patent owner of the Windstream Deflector.
Jesse was a member of the Tippecanoe I.O.O.F., Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge #149, a 32nd
Degree Mason, Plymouth Moose Lodge #741 and also belonged to the Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne.
Jesse loved to fish, play cards, travel, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to adults, as
well as children.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Jane Hartung; his son, James A. Hartung of Panama City, Fla.; his
grandsons:Joel Ryan Hartung at the Culver Academy and Aaron Matthew Hartung of Plymouth;
and his sister and brother-in-law Lois and Norris Krathwohl of Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in
Bourbon with the Rev. Mark Day officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison St.,
Plymouth and on Saturday, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church, prior to the funeral. A Masonic
Service will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The Hartung family would like for memorial contributions to be given to any Shriners Hospital for
Children. Their main office address is: 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Envelopes
will be available at the funeral home for donations.

Ardella Paulsen
Ardella (Del) Paulsen passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 9:20 p.m. in Houston Hospice as a
result of lung cancer. She was born on March 20, 1925 to Charles and Aletha Alberding. Del was
married to Thomas Paulsen, her high school sweetheart, for 55 years until his death in 2002.
Surviving family members include: daughters: Beverly (Marc) Santicola and Connie (Hank)
Bailey; grandsons: Tom (Ann) Howard and Scott (Diana) Howard ;and great-grandchildren:
Brant, Mackenzie, Samantha and Marisa Howard. Other surviving family members include:
brother, Kenneth (Marian) Alberding; sisters-in-law: Nina Alberding, Barbara (Wilbur) Hucker and
Sue Paulsen; and brother-in-law Emil (Dorothy) Smolek.
Del began her working career at the San Pierre Post Office, then worked on the farm with Tom,
owned and operated Tom’s Grocery at Bass Lake, and spent the last 20 years in an elected
position as North Bend Township Trustee. Del was a lifetime resident of Starke County and
member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in San Pierre, as well as a founding member of
the Center for Rural Outreach and Public Service, Inc. (CROPS). Any memorial gifts for Del can
be made to CROPS so that her legacy will live on.
Funeral arrangements include a viewing on Wednesday evening at Bramen & Bailey Funeral
Home in North Judson, a funeral service at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ on Thursday led
by the Reverend’s Lary Sakel and Richard Holtz, and burial at the cemetery in San Pierre.
