David Grant Dunkin
David Grant Dunkin, 72, of Bremen passed away Saturday, March 24 at Bremen Health Care Center.
He was born May 11, 1934 in Wolcott to Leslie E. and Nellie E. (Hollingsworth) Dunkin. David
was a lifetime Bremen resident. He delivered newspapers and worked at the Copper Kettle Restaurant.
He was a member of Bremen Bible Church, an avid marathon runner, honorary member of the
Bremen Kiwanis, he was given the official title of Bremen's No. 1 Fan. His favorite memory verse
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
He is survived by his sister, Dorthea Looney of Chatsworth, N.J. and five nieces and nephews:
Kathy, Kris, Betsy, Tim and Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters:
Edith Ting and Miriam Hobbs. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at the Mishler
Funeral Home in Bremen. Dr. Duane Beals will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be given to Bremen Bible Church or the Bremen High School Athletic
Department. Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leona Esther McCune
Leona Esther McCune, 99, of Bokeelia, Fla. and Mt. Pleasant, Mich. died on March 24, 2007.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1908 in Bremen. She was a longtime resident on a farm near Argos
and moved to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. to be near her daughter. She was the wife of the late Merle B.
McCune.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Joan) of Rochester, Joy Sue Ecker (Louis) of
Weidman, Mich. and James (MariEdd) of Argos; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Leona was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented seamstress, making
many clothes for herself and family. She enjoyed many crafts and loved vegetable and flower
gardening. She was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Culver, the
Maxinkuckee Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, Marshall County Homemakers Club and 4-H club leader.
A memorial service was conducted at the Pine Island United Methodist Church, Bokeelia, Fla.
and a memorial service will be held April 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Poplar Grove United
Methodist Church, 15354 State Road 10, Culver. Burial will be at the Poplar Grove cemetery,
Culver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church,
15354 S.R. 10, Culver, IN 46511.

Donald E. Jefferies
PLYMOUTH — Donald E. Jefferies, 74, of 118 Candy Ln., Plymouth, passed away Sunday,
March 25, 2007 at 4:20 a.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Donald was born on Oct. 16, 1932 in Argos to Lee and Ethel (Schuh) Jefferies. Donald was a
lifelong resident of the Marshall County area. He graduated from Argos High School in 1950. He
retired from the heat treat department of Bremen Bearing after 39 years of service. Donald also
served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In November 1982, he
married Rosella Overmyer Kirkendall. Donald loved to bowl and bowled at Quick's Lanes on the
Monday Bowling League.
Donald is survived by his wife, Rosella Jefferies; son, Donovan (Lynn) Kirkendall of Mattawan,
Mich., daughter, Deanna White of Port Richey, Fla., daughter, Deloris (Kevin) Mills of Paw Paw,
Mich., daughter, Denese (Ruben) Garrido of Elkhart; and son, and Daniel (Heather) Kirkendall of
Nokomis, Fla. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Donald was
preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helen B. Millow, and his brother, Eugene Jefferies.
Funeral services for Donald will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Van
Gilder Funeral Home, with Chaplin Jeff Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery,
Argos.
A time of visiting and sharing memories, with the family, will be on Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m.
at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth.

Khambod Sayavongsing
PLYMOUTH — Khambod Sayavongsing, 63, of Plymouth, died on Sunday, March 25 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Bounpheng; daughters: Photchany Susan and Leon Li of Oak Park,
Illi. And Mon Sayavongsing and her fiancé, Jason Carroll of Raleigh, N.C. ; son, Jovee Santy
and Stacy Sayavongsing of Culver; four grandchildren; seven siblings: Tong Lot, Bor Xay, Chan
Xay, Tong Bai, Soum Chai, Tong Mai and Prong Mai Lai.
Visitation is Friday, March 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home,
Plymouth.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.

Doris Jean Boocher
WARSAW — Doris Jean Boocher, 60, of Warsaw, died Monday, March 26 at her residence.
She is survived her husband, Michael Boocher, sons: Don B. Boocher of Warsaw, James (Kay)
Ludwig of Mentone, Scott (Tammy) Boocher of Warsaw, Todd (Amy) Boocher of Morgantown,
Ky.; sisters: Joanne (Bob) Service of Plymouth, Joy (Wayne) Williams of Syracuse; and brother,
David (Cindy) Wheeler of South Bend; eight grandchildren; and her father, Buel Wheeler.
Services will be held Thursday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford.
Burial will be at the Oak Wood cemetery in Warsaw.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boocher Family.

Lamoine Gressley
LAPORTE — Lamoine Gressley, 68, of LaPorte, formerly of Koontz Lake, died on Monday,
March 26 in Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, LaPorte.
He is survived by sisters: Sharon Scott and Ethelyn Young, both of Koontz Lake; niece, Penny
Sweeney and nephews: Ed and Jerry Young and Lance and Lynn Scott.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 30 at 11 a.m. CDT at
Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
Memorials may be made to the Lions Eye Bank c/o Koontz Lake Lions Club, 7984 N. Hwy. 23,
Walkerton, IN 46574.
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Stephen Molnar
LAPAZ — Stephen Molnar, 85, of LaPaz, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 in
Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. He was born on Jan. 30, 1922 in South Bend to Michael and
Julia (Boktor) Molnar. On Jan. 13, 1951 in LaPaz, he married Phyllis (Swartz) Molnar who
survives.
Mr. Molnar is survived by three sisters: Judy Wiktorowski of Goshen, Helen Ayers of Plymouth
and Elsie Mroczkiewicz of South Bend; one brother, Andrew Barna of Texas and many nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Sophie Tokay and Marge Houser and
six brothers: Lewis, Frank, Gene, Joe, Mike and John Molnar.
Mr. Molnar served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He was
employed by the Studebaker Corporation and retired from AM General after 20-plus years of
service. He loved his cat, Tiger and his dog, Penny.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the Palmer Funeral Home,
314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville. Rev. Tina Velthuizen, pastor of the Church of the Holy Trinity,
South Bend will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery, South Bend. Friends may
visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Stephen Molnar may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601
W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

W. Vance Albert
CULVER — W. Vance Albert was born Dec. 8, 1927 to Howard Glen and Lillie Mae Snapp
Albert at home in Hibbard.
He attended grade school in Hibbard and Culver and graduated from Culver High School in the
class of 1945 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard a mine sweeper in
the Pacific.
On Sept. 14, 1948, in Jeffersonville, Vance married Marjorie Mae Caler. Their marriage was
blessed with three children: Howard Gene (Toni) from Argos, Boni Mae (Dean) Danner from
Wauksha, Wis. and Norman Vance from Hibbard, plus nine grandchildren.
Vance is also survived by two brothers: Virgil Eugene of Spokane, Wash. and Fredrick Vaughn
of Ft. Wayne.
Vance worked as an upholsterer for 30 years, becoming very skilled in the trade. He then went
to work for McGills and retired from the Valparaiso plant.
Vance enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting and was a skilled gardener.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. EDT at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home in Culver on Friday,
March 30. The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 31 at the Faith Baptist Church on the
corner of Peach and 13th Roads at 11 a.m. EDT with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
Any memorial gifts may be given to the Faith Baptist Church.
Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.

Ellen S. McFarland
KNOX — Ellen S. McFarland, 86, of Knox, died Tuesday, March 27.
She is survived by her children: Nancy McFarland of Knox and Clyde W. McFarland of Culver;
sisters: Ailene Howard of Knox and Goldie Stacy of Kentucky; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the California Township Fire Department or cash donations or
canned vegetables to the local Community Food Pantry in Knox.
