Melinda A. Pregel
MISHAWAKA — Melinda A. “Mindy” Pregel, 31, a Crawfordsville, Ind. resident since 1999,
formerly of Mishawaka, died of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center,
Plymouth, at 10:03 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007.
Born in South Bend on April 14, 1976, Mindy was the daughter of Dennis A. and Pat S. Getty
Pregel.
She was a 1994 graduate of Mishawaka High School and a 1999 Purdue University graduate.
She worked as the Quality Assurance Manager of Harlan Bakeries in Avon, Ind.
A member of the Purdue University marching band for four years, Mindy played the Saxophone
and Clarinet. She organized the Relay for Life in Crawfordsville.
She enjoyed cooking, crafts and instituting home improvements. She was an extensive traveler
throughout the United States as well as abroad.
Mindy is survived by her parents, Dennis and Pat, Plymouth, and by her maternal grandmother,
Betty Getty of Bettendorf, Iowa.
Two uncles and aunts-in-law, Terry and Sharon Getty of Bettendorf, Iowa; Clifford and Bettie
Getty, of Blue Grass, Iowa, and four cousins, also survive.
She was preceded in death by Charles and Erma Pregel, her paternal grandparents, her
maternal grandfather, George Getty and a half-brother, Tommy Schenkel.
Friends are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Mindy’s life on Thursday, July 19,
from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Friday after 7 a.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Mindy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20, in the funeral home. The
Rev. Michael P. Dixon, pastor of the Tyner United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Friday in Fairview cemetery, Mishawaka.
Memorial gifts in Mindy’s memory may be made to the Purdue Marching Band or Relay for Life.
Roland W. Crider
KNOX — Roland W. “Rollie” Crider, 86, died Tuesday, July 17 at Beverly Living Center in Knox.
He is survived by a daughter, May J. Crider of Knox; sisters: Beverly Pflugshaupt of Knox and
Helen Jaskowiak of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, Harold Crider of Cedar Lake.
Visitation is Thursday, July 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox. Funeral
services are Friday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill cemetery,
Knox.
Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
Edith E. Griswold
PLYMOUTH — Edith E. Griswold, 87, died at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in Miller’s
Merry Manor, Plymouth, following a sudden illness.
A respected and admired citizen, Edith was a lifelong resident of Plymouth.
She was born in Denver, Ind., on Dec. 19, 1919, the daughter of Paul and Fay Stuber Griswold.
She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1938.
Edith started her career in 1939, as a secretary at the high school, before moving on to the Fort
Wayne Community School system for 16 years. She came back to Plymouth where she worked
for Susie Robertson before working for 8 1/2 years at the Marshall County Division of Family
and Children.
Edith played catcher on Eaglettes Ladies softball team in 1944.
Both before and after retiring, she worked part time at Felke’s Florists.
An active member for many years in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth, and Edith
had also served as a Girl Scout leader.
Edith is survived by her brother, Kenneth Griswold of Plymouth; two nephews: Richard (Judy)
Griswold and Barry Griswold, both of Plymouth; a niece: Carol Griswold Housouer of Rochester;
three great-nephews; one great-niece; four great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces.
Friends are invited to celebrate Edith’s life and share memories of her from noon to 2 p.m. on
Saturday, July 21, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Edith will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev.
William Kaster, pastor of the Trinity UnitedMethodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be given in Edith’s memory to the Flower Fund of the Trinity United
Methodist Church or to the Red Bird Mission.
David S. Henderson
SHARPSVILLE — David S. Henderson, 73, of Sharpsville, died at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday, July
18 at Howard Regional Health System Emergency Room. He was born March 29, 1934 in Tipton
to Joseph W. and Helen B. (Snyder) Henderson. On March 25, 1951 in Converse, he married
R.
Sue Cage.
David was passionate about working the family farm since 1969. He was a member of
Sharpsville United Methodist Church, a member of the Lions Club and was a mason. He also
was a volunteer fireman for Sharpsville for many years. David was an avid sports fan for the
Pacers, Colts, I.U. and he loved racing. He was also a Little League coach for 15 years for his
grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, R. Sue Henderson of Sharpsville; daughters: Cindy (Gary) Miller of
Sharpsville, Debbie (Dave) Harding of Bloomfield and Becky (Boyd) Davis of Argos;
grandchildren: Carrie (Matt) Bischof, Katie (Matt) Gentry, Maggie (Adam) Mohr, Joseph Davis
and fiancee Jennifer Frain, Alex Davis, Chloe Davis, Cody Miller, Emilie Miller, Cullen Miller and
Mollie Miller; great-grandchildren: Sophie Mohr, Vince Bischof and Ava Bischof; brother and
sister-in-law, James Richard and Darlene Henderson of Sharpsville; and many nieces and
nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is Saturday, July 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ellers Mortuary Webster St. Chapel 3400 S.
Webster St., Kokomo.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at Sharpsville United Methodist Church 228 W.
Meridian St. with Pastor Richard Lyth officiating.
Burial will be at Sharpsville cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be provided at
the mortuary and at the church.

Wanetta G. Stanton
CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Wanetta G. Stanton, 79, of Cassopolis, Mich., died Wednesday, July 18.
She is survived by husband, Werdie Stanton; daughter, Terri (Howard Clement) Stanton of
Cassopolis, Mich.; sons: Scott and Thomas of South Bend and David of Cassopolis, Mich.; five
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held at Grovertown cemetery.
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
Tara L. Gayheart
WALKERTON — Tara L. Gayheart, 36, died Thursday, July 19, as a result of an accident north
of Koontz Lake on S.R. 23.
Surviving are her husband, Roy; daughter, Trinity; mother, Rene Lauzon of Rolling Prairie;
father, Larry McMahan of Walkerton; stepfather, Garry LaBere of Walkerton; sisters: Jodi
McMahan of Walkerton and Kaydi McMahan of North Liberty; brothers: Keith McMahan of
Grovertown and Jesse McMahan of Walkerton; grandmother, Corrine Esterlin of West Lafayette;
step-grandmother, Virginia LaBere of Grovertown and three nephews.
Visitation is Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. (CDT) and Tuesday after 9 a.m. until the time of services,
at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CDT) at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grovertown cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Trinity Gayheart Fund, c/o Teachers Credit Union,
Walkerton.
