Irene I. Bemish

Irene I. Bemish, 98, Anderson, passed away Friday, September 17, 2004, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.

She was born on May 10, 1906, in Dunkirk, Indiana to Lionel and Zelumia (Neighbors) Shouse.

She was a member of the South Anderson United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Donald Bemish of Anderson; eleven grandchildren, Mike Summers, Kathy McDermott, Kenneth Summers, Monty Summers, Ted Summers, Steve Bemish, Sharon Perkins, Susan Ramsey, Terri Nolan, Jeannie Chapple, and John D. Bemish; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and twenty-five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Bemish in 1975; a son, Paul Bemish, Jr. in 1996; a daughter, Joan Burress in 2000; and two grandchildren, Dennis Bemish and Susie Halsell.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Kenneth E. Bolton

Kenneth E. Bolton, 92, Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born on July 23, 1912 in Festus, Missouri to Frank and Elizabeth (Marshall) Bolton.

He was a WWII Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. in Anderson as a sales person in 1976.

He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and a retired member of the Lapel Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, I. Louise (Carter) Bolton; two sons, Ronald (wife, Marcella) Bolton of Cape Coral, FL, and Michael (wife, Debbie) Bolton of Fort Wayne, IN; a son-in-law, Fred Presser of Fort Wayne, IN; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra K. Presser in 1994.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 AM Monday at Brookside cemetery in Lapel with Rev. Linda Martin officiating.

Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 999, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0999.

F. Jean Brown

F. Jean Brown, 77, Anderson, passed away Friday, December 31, 2004, at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield following a brief illness.

She was born on January 14, 1927, in Madison County, Indiana to Norman and Ada (Markle) Scott.

She retired in 1987 from the U. S. Post Office and she had worked in post offices in Lapel and Florida. She had established the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in the original Ayr-Way shopping center.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the Madison County Shrine Club Ladies Auxiliary, the Lapel American Legion Auxiliary and she was a volunteer at Community Hospital in Anderson.

She is survived by two sons, Brock (wife, Rhonda) Brown of Fortville, and Brad (wife, Bonnie) Brown of Elwood; two brothers, Larry (wife, Laurie) Scott of Anderson, and Bill (wife, Leda) Scott of Indianapolis; one sister, Judy (husband, Gayl) Sheets of Lapel; five grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Zachary Brown, Brandy Brown, Mandy Brown, and Kelsey Brown; and one great grandson, Joel Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Brown in 2001.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Appreciation Fund at Trinity United Methodist Church, the Lapel American Legion, or the Madison County Shrine Club Van Fund.

Tom Burgess

Randall Thomas "Tom" Burgess, 70, Lapel, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on March 28, 1934, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky to Thomas and Martha (Sandefur) Burgess and he had lived in Indiana for 55 years.

He retired from Delco Remy in 1983 after 30 years of employment.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Stella (Arney) Burgess; two sons, Thomas Burgess of New Palestine, and Billy (wife, Beverly) Burgess of Lapel; five grandchildren, Thomas (wife, Crystal) Burgess of Lapel, Paul (wife, Jocelyn) Burgess of Ellitsville, Brian Burgess serving with the U. S. Marines, Jessica Burgess of Lapel, and Tony Burgess of Lapel; three great grandchildren Morgan Burgess, McKenzie Burgess, and Logan Burgess; and two sisters, Mildred Whitson of Noblesville, and Mary Anthony of Missouri.

He was precededed death by his parents.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Terry L. Burris

Terry L. Burris, 60, Monticello, KY, formerly of Anderson, passed away Wednesday August 18, 2004, at Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, KY following a sudden illness.

He was born on November 28, 1943 in Cicero, Indiana to John and Eileen (Teeters) Burris.

He retired in 2000 from Guide Division of General Motors after 36 years of employment.

He is survived by wife, Pam Burris; three children, Thomas (wife, Cindy) Burris of Lapel, Amanda (husband, Greg) Mills of Noblesville, and Jennifer (husband, Richard) Brown of Lapel; his mother, Eileen Burris of Fishersburg; one brother, Gene (wife, Nancy) Burris of Anderson; one sister, Sue Banning of Anderson; six grandchildren, Natalie Burris, Hannah Mills, Matthew Mills, Caleb Mills, Samuel Mills, and Nathan Brown; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Harley.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Dr. Jerry Snyder officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Vivian Castor

Vivian S. Castor, 85, Noblesville, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a two month illness.

She was born on May 18, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois to Noel and Anna (O'Rear) Stephenson.

She had been employed by Indiana Bell, Aero Drapery and was a former owner of The Hut Restaurant.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved to travel and play Bridge. She was a big Colts and Pacers fan and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sherrill of Noblesville, and Barbara Clark of Fishers; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Mary Ware, Betty Stewart, and Laura Arnold.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Al Hazen officiating. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Cory Clark

Jenna Clark

Cory Clark, 26, and Jenna Clark, 4, Anderson, passed away Wednesday February 25, 2004.

Cory was born on March 14, 1977, in Anderson to Blaine Coomer and Christina Flemming. Jenna was born on April 16, 1999, in Noblesville to John Wesley "Chip" and Cory (Coomer) Clark.

Cory attended the Day Break Community Church in Lapel and volunteered at the Lapel Elementary.

They are survived by their husband and father, Chip Clark; a daughter and sister, Morgan Clark; father and grandfather, Blaine (wife, Terri) Coomer of Indianaplis; mother and grandmother, Christina Flemming of Indianapolis; in-laws and grandparents, John L. and Kathleen Clark of Lake Wales, FL; brother and uncle, Andrew Coomer of Indianapolis; half-brothers and uncles, Jacob Coomer and Blake Coomer of Indianapolis; grandmothers-in-law and great-grandmothers, Elsie Clark of Lake Wales, FL and Ann Hickey of Anderson; sisters-in-law and aunts, Karla Kelly of Mansfield, TX and Kristina Foley of Lapel; brother-in-law and uncle, Joseph Clark of Anderson; uncles and great-uncles, Jeff Coomer of Lapel and Gary Coomer of Springboro, OH; and a special dear friend, Tonya Little of Lapel.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Terry Coomer officiating.

Barbara J. Clinton

Barbara J. Clinton, 66, Fishers, passed away Wednesday January 28, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville after a year long illness.

She was born on March 8, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rolland and Virginia (Morgan) Muir.

She was a member of Fishers American Legion Ladies Auxilary.

She is survived by four children, Cathy (husband, Randy) Renner of Noblesville, Carol (husband, Perry) Shinholt of Lapel, Mike (wife, Dawn) Clinton of Fishers, and Mary Clinton of Columbus, OH; one step-son, Joe (wife, Trish) Clinton of Windfield, KS; three sisters, Jane (husband, Alan) Downs of Westfield, Nancy Cox of Worthington, Louise Neal of Westfield; one brother, Ed (wife, Jan) Muir of Noblesville; her father, Rolland Muir of Noblesville; six grandchildren, Shawn Eskew, Angie Morgan, Shannon Eskew, Mike Renner, Ashley Clinton, and Brandon Clinton; and four great-grandchildren, Sydney Eskew, Emma Eskew, Drew Morgan, and Hanna Eskew.

Services will be held at 1/31/2004 11:00 AM Saturday at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Derek Hansen officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

H. Maxine Curnutt,

H. Maxine Curnutt, 92, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.

She was born on February 28, 1912, in Madison County, IN to Fred and Pearl (Jarrett) Haas.

She was the owner and operator of Maxine's Beauty Shop in Lapel for 57 years making it the oldest business in Lapel. She also had Remember Us For Antiques shop in her home.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the Nameless Bridge Club, and she was an avid bowler.

She is survived by two sons, Fred (wife, Linda) Busby, and Royce (wife, Julie) Busby both of Anderson; a step-son, Don (wife, Melanie) Curnutt of Richmond; eleven grandchildren, Rick (wife, Darla) Busby, Shawn (wife, Jill) Busby, Kathleen (husband, Jeff) Singer, Ronald (wife, Amy) Busby, Royce (wife, Amber) Busby, Jama (husband, Brian) Brown, Andrea (husband, Andy) Dudas, Elise (husband, Lew) Hansel, Tammy (husband, Everett) Crose, Edwin (wife, Rita) Drews, and Shannon (husband, Mark) Clough; and eighteen great grandchildren, Randy Matthews, Shane Singer, Kelsie, Ryan, and Wesley Busby, Nathan, Nicholas and Adam Busby, Alex, Austin, and Adam Busby, Seth Busby, Benjamin and Savannah Crose, Lindsay Drews, Travis and Branden Brown, Ali Clough, Hayden and Madison Brown, and Gracie and Madison Dudas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Curnutt in 1969.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Grovelawn cemetery, Pendleton.

Edith L. Davis

Edith L. (Bodenhorn) Davis, age 93, died on Friday August 20, 2004 at the Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville after a brief illiness.

She was born on May 19, 1911 in Lapel, Indiana, daughter of Lee and Florence (Shelton) Bodenhorn.

She was a Lapel High School graduate and a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church, and belonged to Circle 1.

She is survived by two nieces Norma Wells, of Muncie, and Alice Bodenhorn, of Lapel; three Great-Nieces, Cathy Coomer, of Lapel, Joyce (husband, Brent) Judge, of Florida, and Karen (husband Clay) Parkison, of Lapel; Two Great-Nephews Brian Wells, Muncie, and David Lee (wife Donna) Bodenhorn, Lapel; several Great Great Nieces and Nephews; and a life time friend
Anna Woods, of Lapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Riley Davis, two sisters Mary Catherine (Katie) Scott, and Agnes Milner, brother David Bodenhorn, nephew Kenneth Bodenhorn and a niece Ina Marie Stookey.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Ford Street United Methodist Church of Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery.
