Marilyn J. Schmidtke, age 74, of 17982 9th Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at home.

Marilyn was born on April 18, 1934, in Saint Joseph County, Indiana, to Lee and Opal (Ditman) Mumford. Marilyn was retired from AO Optical in Plymouth.

Marilyn is survived by her cousins, Pam and James Goebel of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Nancy Friday of Massachusetts.

The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, is handling the arrangements. According to Marilyn's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place at a later date.

Guadalupe (Sanchez) Rubalcava, age 60, of 828 East Lusher Avenue, Elkhart, Indiana, passed away at 1:41 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital, Goshen, Indiana.

Lupe was born on March 11, 1948, in Sunnyside, Washington, to Miguel and Josefa (Carrillo) Sanchez. They moved to Plymouth, Indiana, in 1962, from Texas. Lupe was employed at Sunshine Catering Service in the food preparation department. She moved, from Plymouth, to the Elkhart area, in 1978.

Lupe is survived by her three daughters; Monica Neumann, Gina Neumann, and Teresa Atchison, all of Elkhart; her son, Stephen Neumann of South Bend, Indiana; her five sisters, Tonia Ledesman of Plymouth, Yolanda Gaspar of Plymouth, Mary Fuentes of Elkhart, Tomasa Flores of Plymouth, and Sofia Fuentes of Plymouth; and her three brothers, Richard Sanchez of Texas, Mike Sanchez of Texas, and Alvin Hernandez of Hobart, Indiana.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in Saint Michael cemetery, Plymouth.

A time of visiting, with Lupe's family, will be on Friday, April 18, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Joanne Clifton
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Mar. 13, 1928
passed away Apr. 16, 2008 and resided in Winston-Salem, NC.

Joanne Clifton, age 80, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Forsyth County Hospital in Winston, North Carolina.

Joanne was born on March 13, 1928, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to William and Nettie (May) Washburn. Joanne and Bernard Clifton were married in October of 1947.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bernard; their two daughters, Patricia Willis of Plymouth, Indiana and Debra Sue and Frank Schoonover of Saint Petersburg, Florida; their three sons, Donovan and Diana Clifton of Winston, North Carolina, Robert D. Clifton of San Antonio, Texas, and Rick Allen Clifton of Seattle, Washington; her sister, Mary Jane and Ralph Ulch of Michigan; and her brother, James Washburn of Culver, Indiana. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. Joanne was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Joanne will be on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 3:00 p.m., at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in Culver, with the Rev. Tom Padberg officiating. Burial will be in the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. cemetery, Culver.

A time of visiting with the Clifton Family will be on Sunday, April 20, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563 and from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the church, prior to the funeral on Monday.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.

Leta Irick
Born in Findley, Ohio on Oct. 30, 1906

Leta Irick, age 101, of 635 Oakhill Avenue, Plymouth, Indiana, formerly of Delphos, Ohio, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth.

Leta was born on October 30, 1906, in Findlay, Ohio, to George and Edith Garns. Leta married Howard Irick. He passed away on November 19, 1985.

Leta was a member of United Brethren Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a retired Practical Nurse from the Otterbein Retirement Home.

Leta is survived by her two daughters, Norma Jean and David Good of Plymouth, Marsha and Troy Pratt of Danville, Kentucky; and her son, Robert and Janice Irick of Cygnet, Ohio. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walnut Grove cemetery, Delphos, Ohio, with the Rev. David Howell officiating.

Jean Wagner

Jean E. Wagner, age 93, of Donaldson, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 6:40 a.m., at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, Donaldson.

Jean was born on July 6, 1914, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to John and Lola (Cross) Benford. She was a retired school teacher and bank teller.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann and James Wells of Plymouth; her son, Tom and Marian Wagner of Peoria, Illinois; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Wagner.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., on the fourth floor Visitation Chapel, at the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Maria Center, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, with Cindy Garver officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Higgins Lake, Michigan, at a later date.

A time of visiting with the Wagner family will also be held in the Chapel, on Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, Post Office Box 1, Donaldson, Indiana, 46513, or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Incorporated, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Mary Snyder
Born in Crittenden, Kentucky on May 28, 1920
passed away Apr. 4, 2008 and resided in Plymouth, IN.

Mary V. Snyder, age 87, of 400 West Washington Street, Apartment, N-13, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008, at home.

Mary was born on May 28, 1920, in Crittenden, Kentucky, to Homer and Sybil (Deboe) Holland. She married Melvin E. Snyder on April 14, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1985.

Mary had been employed at Fasier Cleaners, in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Mary is survived by her grandsons, Melvin and Julie Snyder, David and Trish Snyder, and Andrew Snyder, all of Plymouth; her granddaughters, Teresa Snyder and Mary Snyder both of California; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Phyllis Bee of Elkhart, Indiana, Geneva Hawes, Cindy Phelps, and Betty Moore, all of Evansville, Indiana, Margaret Springston of Selvin, Indiana, and Myra Needler of Rochester, New York; and her brother, Jerry Holland of Indianapolis, Indiana. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her son, Melvin; and her brothers, James Holland and Paul Holland.

Honoring Mary's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be at a later date. The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME is handling the arrangements.

Juanita Wagoner
Born in Bremen, Indiana on Oct. 1, 1928

Juanita M. Wagoner, age 79, of 13th Street, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Rochester.

Juanita was born on October 1, 1928, in Bremen, Indiana, to Claude and Frances (Fetters) Booker. Juanita and Robert D. Wagoner were married in Plymouth, Indiana, on December 29, 1945. The Wagoner's owned and operated a coin laundry, Wagoner Radiator, and Wag's TV and Appliances in Rochester.

Juanita and Robert raised their four sons together. They had been residents of the Rochester area since 1950 and had attended the First Baptist Church, in Rochester, since then. Juanita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed antiques, swinging on the porch, cleaning house, bowling, card club with her friends, family activities, playing dominoes with her grandchildren, and eating her favorite "Flagpole" ice cream.

Juanita is survived by her sons, Gregory Wagoner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark and Cindy Wagoner of Greensboro, North Carolina, Philip and Terri Wagoner of Greenwood, Indiana, and Todd Wagoner of Taylorville, Illinois; her grandchildren, Cyle (Chris) Wagoner, Cory Wagoner, Paige Wagoner, Ty Wagoner, Eric Wagoner, Patrick Wagoner, Kaitlyn Wagoner, and Alyssa Wagoner; one great-grandchild, Evan; and her sister Claudine of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Wagoner, and two infant sons.

Funeral services, for Juanita, will be held at Noon, on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with Rev. Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

A time of visiting with the Wagoner family will be on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, 922 East Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46617 or Southern Care Hospice, 310 West McKinley Avenue, Mishawaka, Indiana, 46565.

Patricia Hardesty
Born in Mishawaka, Indiana on Dec. 6, 1945

Patricia K. Hardesty, 62, of 2210 Larimore Drive, Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 8:15 p.m., at the Summit Medical Center in Hermitage Tennessee. She was formerly of Plymouth, Indiana.

Patricia was born on December 6, 1945 in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Loren and Dorothy Hatfield. She married John Hardesty on December 24, 1962. He passed away on May 7, 2001.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Cindy Price of Argos, Indiana, Candy Bonnell of Plymouth, Connie and James Lawton of Talma, Indiana, and Karen and Adam Leazenby of Kewanna, Indiana; her son, John and Bonnie Hardesty of Plymouth; her brothers, Lloyd (Tiny) Hatfield and Richard Hatfield both of Plymouth, Gary Hatfield of Arizona, and Loren (Butch) Hatfield of Elkhart, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Beverly Jefferies and Kathy Haak; and her brother, Dale Hatfeild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, in Plymouth, with the Rev. Douglas Jividen officiating. Burial will be in the Tyner cemetery, Tyner, Indiana.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Hardesty Family.

Annemarie "Annie" McLiver
Born in Cologne-Lindenthal, Germany on Apr. 3, 2008

Annemarie C. McLiver, 83, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at the home of her niece, Sherrie Martin, surrounded by her loving family, from an extended illness.

Annie was born in Cologne-Lindenthal, Germany, on October 9, 1924, to Martin Karl Hermann Gustav and Wilhelmine (nee Gobel) Knaak.

The eldest of three children, she came to America as a war bride. On October 9, 1948, in Roseland, Indiana, Annie and Isaac A. McLiver, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, were married .

Annie lived most of her life in Michigan, retiring to Florida 26 years ago. She and her husband recently returned to Plymouth to be near family.

Annie was an avid golfer, boasting 2 Holes in One, which was matched by her husband, Ike. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and all types of crafts, excelling in painting. She sold several of her paintings and was always learning new and different techniques.

One of her favorite past-times was playing cards and dice games with her family and friends. Annie was always the "official scorekeeper" adding the scores up out loud in German. She was also an avid square dancer, for many years, belonging to clubs in both Michigan and Florida.

She worked for VM-The Voice of Music, in Benton Harbor, for several years, and later helped her husband run his Yellowrock Engraving business from home.

Annie is survived by her husband, Ike; her step-daughter, Carol Ann Weissbruch and family of Illinois; her brothers, Karl Heinz (Hilde) Knaak and their daughters Gabrielle, Annemarie, and Ruth; and Martin (Katrina) Knaak and their daughter Petra and family all of Cologne, Germany; her godchild, Ursula Jungbluth of Lohmar, Germany; her sister-in-law, Martha McLiver; her niece Sherrie (Phillip) Martin; her nephew Dave (Julie) McLiver and families all of Plymouth, and her nephew John (Elizabeth) Borysko of Michigan. Several nieces and nephews from California also survive.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Archie and Amy McLiver; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Art McMahan, Jack and Jean McLiver, and
Archie McLiver.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A family dinner to celebrate Annie's life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 112 South Center Street, Suite C, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, The American Cancer Society, 601 West Edison, Mishawaka, Indiana, or to the choice of the donor.
