Anna E. Rugg

SHIPSHEWANA -- Anna E. Rugg, 87, of North Seventh Street, died at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 8, 2009) in her daughter's home in Shipshewana.

She was born July 14, 1922, in Shipshewana to Enos L. and Delilah B. (Miller) Bontrager.

Ms. Rugg is survived by four daughters, Judy (Terry) Darr of Shipshewana and Helen Rugg, Dixie Butler and Sally (Vernon) Moore, all of Goshen; three sons, Jim (Fern) Bontrager and William Rugg, both of Goshen, and Dennis (Janet) Rugg of Houston, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Levi E. Bontrager of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Clarence E. (Hazel A.) Bontrager of Shipshewana; and one sister, Rosa E. Troyer of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Bontrager; and four siblings, Millie, Ammon, Irvin and Jerry Bontrager.

After retiring from Starcraft, Ms. Rugg worked at the Red Cross until 2002. She was a member of Church of God, Nappanee.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Pastor Justin Moore of Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Run cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Gideons International.

Lyle E. Moore

GOSHEN -- Lyle E. Moore, 73, of The Maples at Waterford Crossing, died at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2009) in The Maples at Waterford Crossing.

He was born June 16, 1936, in Minot, N.D., to Everett and Hazel (Milam) Moore. On Nov. 16, 1958, he married Mary Brovont.

Three daughters, Sheila (Mike) Conrad and Bonnie (Jerry) Valencourt, both of Goshen, and Loretta (Gary) Shoufler of Bristol, survive along with one son, Kenneth Moore of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Dolores Squires of Puyallup, Wash.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Lyle and Lester Moore, and one brother, Roland Moore.

Mr. Moore was the owner and operator of a laundry business, shoe repair store, health food store and upholstery business over the course of his life. He was a member of Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Goshen.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. A prayer service will be at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the home ministry officiating. Burial will be in Adjoining Church cemetery.

Ann E. Kreider

GOSHEN -- Ann E. Kreider, 65, of Park West Drive, Goshen, died unexpectedly at 5:52 p.m. Sundayat Goshen General Hospital.

She was born April 15, 1944 in Goshen to William A. and Helen E. (Scott) Bradford. On March 15, 1963, she married Wendell J. Kreider at the First United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Kent Kreider of Goshen; two daughters, Melissa (Rex) Welty of New Paris and Kari (Nick) Roberts of Noblesville; two sisters, Iretta (Bruce) Hanna and Tatsy Hayes, both of Hudson; one brother, Ed (Janet) Bradford of Goshen; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Kreider was a lifetime resident of Goshen and worked at Edward Jones Investments in Goshen where she was a branch office administrator. She attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1962 and enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and Notre Dame football.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311. S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to Thursday's 10 a.m. funeral service at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 502 N. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Michael Tarner of St. Mark's United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

Sandra Kay Schuster
Dec. 6, 1939 - Sept. 5, 2009

GOSHEN -- Sandra Kay Schuster, 69, of 420 Broadmore Estates, Goshen, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 5, 2009) at Goshen General Hospital, where she had been a patient since Aug. 26.

She was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Goshen to Paul Ross and Mildred LaVon (Knisley) Huber.

She is survived by three daughters, Sonja-Lei Pratt (Manuel Garcia), Tasha K. Schuster and Tiffany L. Schuster, all of Elkhart; two sons, Sam K. Schuster of Colorado and John M. Schuster of Goshen; and one sister, Sharon L. Johns of Goshen.

Ms. Schuster had been employed at B/T Equipment Services for 29 years as an office manager. She was a member of Jefferson Brethren Church in Goshen.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Ron Spyker of Jefferson Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Thomas E. Culp

ELKHART -- Thomas E. Culp, 68, of Hively Avenue, died at 12:59 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 3, 2009) in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend.

He was born April 1, 1941, in Goshen to Clarence and June (Krause) Culp.

Two daughters, Sheri (John) Owen of Elkhart and Fawn Maxwell of Michigan City, survive along with three grandchildren; one sister, Karen of Arizona; and three brothers, Doug and Cal Culp, and Randy Inbody, all of Elkhart.

One son, Timothy Eugene Culp, preceded him in death.

Mr. Culp was a U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of Goshen High School. He worked at Kauffman Oil; Kraiser Aluminum; as director of Transportation, Elkhart; as a bus driver for Elkhart Community Schools; and as a driver for Royal Coach, Goshen Coach and Courtesy Transport.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to Tuesday's 11 a.m. funeral service all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Lenny Krebs will officiate.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Guillermina R. Manriquez

GOSHEN -- Guillermina R. Manriquez, 44, of Goshen, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2009) in Elkhart Hospice House.

She was born Nov. 20, 1964, in Mexico to Max Tapia and Sara Martinez.

On Dec. 7, 1985, she married Miguel Manriquez.

He survives along with two daughters, Jessica Manriquez and Nayeli Manriquez, both of Goshen; one son, Miguel Manriquez of Goshen; and brothers and sisters in Mexico.

Mrs. Manriquez was a homemaker. She was a member of Christian Community Church.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, is assisting with arrangements.

Susie M. Martin
June 12, 1914 - Aug. 31, 2009

GOSHEN -- Susie M. Martin, 95, of Greencroft, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday (Aug. 31, 2009) in Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born June 12, 1914, in Franklin County, Pa., to Roy B. and Myrtle S. (Garman) Strock. On July 23, 1932, she married Robert J. Martin who died Jan. 10, 1985.

Mrs. Martin is survived by one son, John H. (Barbara) Martin of Elkhart; two daughters, Rebecca D. (Don) Boyer of Albion and Susan J. Kohler of Elkhart; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and member of both New Paris Church of the Brethren and Gideons Auxiliary. She was a charter member of New Paris Variety Club and a former member of Maplecrest Country Club.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to Friday's 10:30 a.m. funeral service at New Paris Church of the Brethren. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will be in New Paris cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church.

Carole L. Walker

ELKHART -- Carole L. Walker, 67, of Malibar Court, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Bristol to Simon and Zelda (Parrett) Kane. On March 6, 1965, she married Franklin Walker.

He survives along with two daughters, Michelle (Matthew) Utterback of Noblesville and Amy (Nick) Dragula of Elkhart; and four grandchildren.

Three brothers, Art, Gene and Don Kane, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Walker worked in accounts receivable at Miles and retired from Bayer in 1997. She was a member of Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren and a volunteer at Oaklawn.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Rick Gering of Sugar Grove Church will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (East) cemetery.

Memorials may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.

Patrick J. "P.J." Whetstone

GOSHEN -- Patrick J. "P.J." Whetstone, 25, of Goshen, died at 7:13 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 22, 2009) at Sullivan County Community Hospital, Sullivan.

He was born Oct. 7, 1983, in Elkhart to Robert Scarrette and Robin (Whetstone) Eutsey.

Mr. Whetstone is survived by his father of New Paris, Ohio, and his mother of Goshen; one sister, Krystal Scarrette of New Paris, Ohio; and his maternal grandparents, John and Goldie Whetstone, of Goshen.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to Wednesday's 10 a.m. funeral service at Zion Chapel, Goshen. The Rev. Steve Chupp will officiate. Burial will be in Miller cemetery.

Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given for funeral expenses.

Phyllis Flora

GOSHEN -- Phyllis Flora, 71, of 511 Center St., died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 19, 2009) in Goshen General Hospital.

She was born May 4, 1938, in New Castle to William and Opal (Davis) Butler. She married Johnny Flora on Feb. 14, 1959.

He survives along with two daughters, Teresa Flora Hershberger of Goshen and Becky Lenz of New Castle; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Claude Butler of Goshen and Jessie Butler of New Castle; and one sister, Juanita Archer of Goshen.

One son, Dennis Neal, died in March 1996.

Mrs. Flora was a member of Women of Moose Lodge 836 and had worked in production as a cabinet maker at Coachmen, Middlebury, for 35 years.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the 10 a.m. Friday funeral service will take place. Burial will be in Violett cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Moose Heart.

Margaret M. Blough
Jan. 8, 1912 - Aug. 18, 2009

GOSHEN -- Margaret M. Blough, 97, of First Street, died Tuesday (Aug. 18, 2009) in Goshen General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 8, 1912, in LaGrange County to Henry D. and Lydia (Bowman) Hart. On Sept. 14, 1930, she married Vernon Blough. He died July 21, 1993.

Mrs. Blough is survived by one daughter, Doris (Bill) Stanfill of Goshen; one son, Charles Blough of Chesapeake, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Raymond (Doris) Waggner of White Pigeon, Mich.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Mary Alice Lantz in 1957, Janet Rose Blough in 1937 and Peggy Thrailkill in 1986; and three grandsons, Vernon Blough in 1968, Charles Blough in 1993 and Robert Thrailkill in 2004.

Mrs. Blough was a homemaker and had lived in her home on First Street for 74 years.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oakridge cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Lay Diabetic Foundation or Salvation Army.
