Robert W. Hendrickson

Robert W. Hendrickson, 71, of Terre Haute died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, in his residence. He was a retired freight elevator operator for Quaker Maid Co. He was born April 24, 1930, in Vigo County to Epery Hendrickson and Mary Frances Dietz Hendrickson. Survivors include his wife, Mary Staton Hendrickson, whom he married Dec. 14, 1984; two daughters and their husbands, Debbie and John Bosstick of Farmersburg and Trudy and Ron Bartz of Michigan; one sister and her husband, Wilma and Glen Coffey of Pimento; two grandsons, Jason Bosstick and his wife, Amanda and Harold Bosstick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of Shady Grove Community Church. Services are 1 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Revs. Marvin Miller and Don Tichenor officiating. Burial is in Fletcher cemetery. Visitation is noon until services. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International Memorial Bible Plan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Eileen E. Hill

Eileen E. Hill, 81, of New Goshen died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1920, in New Goshen to Edgar Minnich and Thora Cabbage Minnich. Her husband, Lloyd A. Hill, died Feb. 2, 1999. Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine Hoskins, Glenda Kinser and Joyce Litherland; two sons, Alan Hill and Dale Hill; three sisters, Nila Rust, Rosemary Neal and LuAda Edington; two brothers, Eddie Minnich and Raymond Minnich; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services are 10 a.m. Monday in Mattox-Bedino in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. John Like officiating. Burial is in Pleasantview cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Clifford F. Johnson

Clifford F. Johnson, 81, of Terre Haute died at 5:23 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Union Hospital. He retired in 1985 from Ivy Hill Packaging Corp. He was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Terre Haute to Leonard Johnson and Lizzie Davis Johnson. Survivors include two sons, Felton Johnson of Terre Haute and James A. Johnson and his wife, Monica of Westerville, Ohio; one daughter, Sandra L. Harding and her husband, Phillip of Nashville, Tenn.; a special friend, Omey Ross of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in China, Burma and India. He was a member of Lost Creek Baptist Church and a lifetime member of American Legion Pioneer Post 340, where he served as chaplain for over 50 years. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Lost Creek Baptist Church, 4440 N. Creal Road, with the Rev. Thomas Wood officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn Soldiers and Sailors Circle, with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Monday, in the church. Dunn Family Mortuary assisted with arrangements.

Jayna Sky Montgomery Marietta

Jayna Sky Montgomery Marietta, infant daughter of Jon Marietta and Jeeana Montgomery, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She was born Oct. 20, 2001, in Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Survivors include her parents; one half sister, Tiara Marietta; maternal grandparents, Stephen and Teri Tucker; maternal great-grandparents, James and Geraldine Myers; paternal grandmother, Donna Loveless; paternal great-grandmother, Ruth Marietta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Monday in Oak Hill cemetery, with the Rev. Earl McClelland officiating. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel.

Frances Irene Boldrey

JASONVILLE - Frances Irene Boldrey, 73, of Jasonville died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in her residence. She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Keller to Russell Callahan and Brexel Sterling Callahan. Her husband, Kenneth Boldrey, died Nov. 15, 1996. Survivors include one daughter, Kay Anne Harris; one brother, Charles Callahan; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, in McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Burial is in Lebanon cemetery in Midland. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until services Tuesday.

William Eugene Bowen

ROCKVILLE - William Eugene Bowen, 67, of Rockville and formerly of Indianapolis and Bloomington died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Bloomington to Donald E. Bowen and Jenny Carter Bowen. Survivors include several cousins. Memorial services are Monday in Parke County Residential Care Facility. Cremation is scheduled, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Bloomington. There is no visitation. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

James C. Louderback

BRAZIL - James C. Louderback, 84, of Brazil died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2001, at Cooper Towers. He was born May 13, 1917, in Brazil to Harry Louderback and Edith Watts Louderback. His wife, Thelma Bridgewater Louderback, died Nov. 3, 1994. Survivors include two sons, H. Leon Louderback and James A. Louderback; two daughters, Sue McFarlin and Mary C. Thompson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Following cremation, graveside memorial services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in Clearview cemetery, with the Rev. Gary K. Scroggins officiating. Miller Memorial Chapel assisted with arrangements.

Harriett Mae McDonald

BRAZIL - Harriett Mae McDonald, 81, of Brazil and formerly of Marshall, Ill., died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, in Royal Oaks Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Terre Haute. She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Vigo County to Harry E. McNely and Edith Fears McNely. Her husband, Paul Richard McDonald, whom she married Nov. 12, 1938, in West Terre Haute, died March 29, 1983. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy and Don Jones of Terre Haute and Andrea McDonald of Brazil; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kay McDonald of Carbon; one sister, Helen Drummond of Chico, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews in California and Texas. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and her foster parents, Russell and Ellen Craig. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brazil, served on the Missions Circle of the church and had served the church as choir leader. She had taught adult Sunday school at the South Vigo Congregation Church at West Terre Haute and the First United Methodist Church of Brazil. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years, a member of the Emmanus Community and enjoyed ceramics and crafts. She was a member and former leader of the Clay County Kitchen Band, worked for the Area 7 Senior Center in Brazil and served as the Area 7 senior queen in 1986. Services are 10 a.m. CST Monday in Pearce Funeral Home, in Marshall, with the Rev. Steven L. Rasmussen officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. CST Sunday.

George E. Payne

BRAZIL - George E. Payne, 62, of Waldron and formerly of Brazil died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Diamond to Forrest Payne and Luetta Webster Payne. Survivors include his wife, Ann Lear Payne; one son, Robert Payne; one daughter, Kimberly Payne Shearer; three sisters, Sara Lou Havey, Sharon Payne and Carol Jacob; four brothers, Jerry Payne, Jim Payne, Don Payne and Joe Payne; and three grandchildren. Services were Nov. 5, 2001. Burial was in Van Pelt cemetery in Shelby County. Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul assisted.

Oris M. Campbell

Oris M. Campbell, 84, of Terre Haute died at 10:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Harborside Healthcare. He was retired from Chrysler in Indianapolis. He was born March 23, 1917, in Vigo County to James Marion Cambell and Lois A. Copelend Campbell. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bessie J. Metcalf Campbell, whom he married Dec. 9, 1935; one daughter, Donna Shugert and her husband, Rick of Indianapolis; two brothers, James Marion Campbell of Hawaii and Emmitt Woodrow Campbell of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Horton of Virginia and Ruth Owen of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Denna Wherle, Kim Dalton, Sherri Armstrong, James M. Campbell Jr. and Jim Clark; nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Campbell of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, James Miller Campbell Sr., February 1998. He was an Army veteran and was a member of Union Baptist Church, American Legion, United Auto Workers 1226 and Blackhawk Community Center. Services are 3 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Revs. Jeff Lee and James Palmer officiating. Burial is in Farmersburg Westlawn cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. until services.

Mary Hannah Hiddle

Mary Hannah Hiddle, 86, of Terre Haute died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Davis Gardens Health Center. She formerly was employed with St. Anthony Hospital and more recently retired from Miller-Parrot Baking Co. She was born July 31, 1915, in Terre Haute to Kaleel Nasser and Hisfie Haddad Nasser. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Mose Nasser Sr., Robert Bissey and Wilbur Hiddle. Survivors include one granddaughter, Rhonda Long-Sharp and her husband Scott of Indianapolis; one stepson, Robert Bissey II of New Zealand; one son-in-law, Ralph Long of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Nicole Marie Long Sharp and Chad Michael Long Sharp; one brother, Ernie Nasser of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Eva Marie Long; three brothers, Mike Nasser, Bill Nasser and Richard Nasser; and one sister, Rose Bradford. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Twelve Points Chapter 528 Order of Eastern Star and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 Auxiliary. Services are 3:30 p.m. Monday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with OES Chapter 528 and the Rev. David Perkins officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 1:30 p.m. until services Monday. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Seventh St., Terre Haute, IN 47807; or the Carmelite Monastery, 59 Allendale, Terre Haute, IN 47802.

Ruth E. Jackley

Ruth E. Jackley, 82, of Terre Haute died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Southwood Health Care Center. She was a retired sales clerk from The Root Store. She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Vigo County to Ralph Mason and Rosa Brewster Mason. Her husband, Charles Jackley, died Jan. 5, 1988. Survivors include one son, Charles Jackley III and his wife Kathy; one nephew, Dan Reece; and two nieces, Carol Hollenbeck and Laura Millett. She was a member of United Methodist Temple. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Revs. Steven Rundel and Brian White officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.

Charles W. Morge

Charles W. Morge, 82, of Terre Haute died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local 144. He was born Nov. 9. 1919, in Indianapolis to Charles A. Morge and Lula Waters Morge. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Williams Wright Morge, whom he married May 27, 1990; two sons, Chuck Morge and Mark Morge; one daughter, Judy Follett; five stepsons, Bill Wright, Dennis Wright, Danny Wright, Phillip Wright and Mark Wright; one brother, John Morge; one sister, Pam Eversole; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Peterson officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 10 a.m. until services Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Light House Mission, 1450 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47807.

Mary E. Stitt Wyre Sirmay

Mary E. Stitt Wyre Sirmay, 86, of Dunedin, Fla., and formerly of Terre Haute died Nov. 24, 2001, in Dunedin. She was born in Linton to Edward L. Stitt and Hazel Goins Stitt, a descendant of Col. John Benefiel, Indiana pioneer who helped write the first Indiana State Constitution. Her husbands, Doyle E. Wyre and Emery J. Sirmay, both died earlier. Survivors include one son, D. Edward Wyre of San Francisco and his family; two nieces, Mary K. Haney of Terre Haute and Judith James of Chesterton and their families; and one step grandson, Michael F. Rollins of Danville, Ind., and his family. She was a 1932 graduate of Garfield High School and a 1956 graduate of Orlando Junior College. In Indiana, she was a member of Fort Harrison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and Sullivan County Historical Society. In Florida, she was a founding member of Caladesi Chapter D.A.R., and was past president of the Clearwater, Fla., and Dunedin Women's Republican Clubs, and a member of the Dunedin Rotary Anns and the Dunedin Veterans of World War I Auxiliary. There were no services. National Cremation Society of Largo, Fla., assisted with arrangements.

Ernest Dowell

BRAZIL - Ernest Dowell, 96, of Brazil and formerly of Jackson Gardens and Van Buren Township died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Clay Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a patient over two years. For 18 years he was custodian for Van Buren High School and the elementary school, retiring in 1971. He was born March 4, 1905, in Parke County to Nelson Dowell and Laura Alsip Dowell. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bain Dowell, whom he married May 28, 1932; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Marlene Dowell of Brazil; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy A. and Ed Walker of Brazil three grandchildren, Rachel Dowell of Brazil, Benjamin Eckler and Gabriel Eckler, both of Greenfield; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Margaret Dowell Harvey of Pimento; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Sue Dowell; a grandson, James Dowell; three brothers, Nelson Dowell, Ralph Dowell and Robert Dowell; and six sisters, Pearl Alumbaugh, Grace Archer, Ruth Runnels, Jessie Kingery, Sybil Dowell and Bonnie Crafton. He attended Remington and Bell common schools. In his early life he was employed in the steel mills in Gary and the Binkley Coal Co. mine that was located south of Seelyville. Later he worked for Nance's Creamery, Pawley Lumber Co., the Gregory and Fisher companies, furniture manufacturers, all former Brazil businesses. He enjoyed singing and was lead singer with the Sycamores Quartet and was a member of Wabash Valley Barbership Chorus in Terre Haute. He also enjoyed raising hunting dogs and had long been affiliated with the Fox Hunters Association of this area. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Miller Memorial Chapel, with Fred Whitkanack officiating. Burial is in Calcutta cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
