Robert E. Cline
SHERIDAN – Robert E. Cline, 85, Sheridan, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Born March 31, 1922 in Sheridan, he was the son of Frank and Emma (Schnadinger) Cline. On June 19, 1947, he married Jennie (Wallace) Cline. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2006.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II in the South Pacific.
He was a pharmacologist with Eli Lilly and Company for 37 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a 50-year member of the Sheridan Masonic Lodge F.& A.M. He was also a member of Sheridan First Christian Church, Sheridan Order of Eastern Star and Scottish Rite. He was also a volunteer for the Hamilton County Meals on Wheels.
He was a 1940 graduate of Sheridan High School.
He is survived by one son, Donald Marcum of Kokomo; four daughters, Judy Orr of Tipton, Margie and husband Michael Quick of Sheridan, Roberta and husband Mark Mendenhall of Lebanon and Molly Cline of Sheridan; four sisters, Alice Grinstead of Sheridan, Millie Pearson of Elwood, Dorothy Faulstich of Cicero and Evelyn Newby of Elwood; seven grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Cline.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Boxley Cemetery. The Rev. V.J. Stover will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County Meals on Wheels.

Sarah A. Stout
SHARPSVILLE – Sarah A. Stout, 93, of Sharpsville, died Nov. 1, 2007, at Tipton Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1914 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Homer M. and Ethel J. (Stanley) Hensley.
She married Herbert W. Stout Nov. 26, 1937 in Tipton. He died Jan. 4, 2002.
She was a farm wife along with her husband.
She lived most of her life in Tipton County.
She was a member of the Howard Chapel Church and enjoyed gardening, sewing and working with the livestock.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia and husband, Fred Reed of Kokomo; three sons, Ronald W. Stout of Sharpsville, Allen R. Stout of Elwood and Leslie D. Stout of Sharpsville; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Grosskoph of Indianapolis and Idora Aldred of Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold W. Stout, who died in 2006 and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home, with the Rev. David L. Stout officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert L. Robinson
TIPTON – Robert L. Robinson, 83, Tipton, died today at Autumnwood at Tipton Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.

William E. Knauer
William Edward Knauer, 92, of Elwood, died Nov. 1, 2007, at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Greencastle, the son of Earl and Edna (Barnard) Knauer.
He was a 1935 graduate of Greencastle High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and saw action in central Europe. He was awarded two bronze stars.
He was a car salesman and had worked at Oaklandon Sales for 20 years.
He married Lauretta Hunt April 24, 1937. She died April 14, 2006.
Surviving him are four grandchildren, William N. Knauer of Fishers, Cindy Girtman of Cicero, Diana Knauer of Beech Grove and David Knauer of Indianapolis; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Reeves of Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, the Rev. Edward Knauer; and a sister, Betty Sider.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at the Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Martin E. Vollenhals
ALEXANDRIA – Martin Earl Vollenhals, 79, of Alexandria, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born May 17, 1928, in Alexandria, the son of Andrew G. and Mabel (Tomlinson) Vollenhals.
He had resided in Alexandria all his life.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1948 with the rank of Seaman 1st Class.
He retired from Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson in 1982 after 34 years employment. In 1962, Martin began working at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria retiring in 2005 as head groundskeeper with 43 years of service. For those many years, Martin was commited to the respectful care and interment of hundreds of loved ones in their place of final rest at Park View Cemetery.
He was a member of the Alexandria Eagles No. 1771, a life member of the Anderson VFW No. 266 and a member of the Anderson American Legion. He also belonged to U.A.W. Local 662.
Martin was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, NASCAR racing and driver Tony Stewart.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. His gentle spirit and wonderful smile will be sadly missed, but warmly remembered.
Survivors include his wife, Sally (Stark) Vollenhals, whom he married March 22, 2004; two daughters, Katie (Chet) Bell of Muncie and Debbie (Jason) Meier of Huntington; three stepdaughters, Becky (Sam) Posas of Houston, Texas, Dawn (Ramon) Oliva of Austin, Texas and Donna (Kirk) Holewinski of Bristol; stepson, Rick (Maryann) Stanley of Indiana-polis; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marilyn Cox and Mara Jo Maxwell, both of Alexandria, Colleen McCorkle of Dayton, Ohio and Rita VanBlair of Elwood; two brothers, Jerry Vollenhals of Alexandria and Richard Vollenhals of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Beverly Crouse and Nona Jones of Cape Coral, Fla.; and Thada Benson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Sonny Stark of Alexandria; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1977; his mother in 1996; a brother, Russell Vollenhals; a sister, Jean Ann O’Bryant; and sisters-in-law, Patsy Luzader and Vona Abrams.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria. military honors will follow the services in the funeral home with the Rev. Clifton Richardson officiating. Cremation will follow with private disposition of the cremains.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Alexandria Eagles Lodge will perform a memorial service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice through the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Martin’s sister-in-law, Thada “Nurse Ratched” Benson for her tender loving care and support during his illness.

Flonnie Ramsey
ATLANTA – Flonnie Elizabeth Ramsey, 84, of Atlanta, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Tipton County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1923, at Stop, Ky., the daughter of John Riley and Nova Evelyn (Garner) Marcum.
She was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church.
She had worked at Vinie’s Donut Shop in Tipton and was also a nurses aide at Hamilton Heights Health Center in Arcadia.
Survivors include a son, Roger Malston of Hobbs; a daughter, Betty Ann Murphy of Elwood; a brother, Thomas Marcum of Cicero; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Marcum, Beckham Marcum, Jake Ed Marcum, Arthur Marcum, and Everett Marcum; sisters, Laura Poe, Alice Poe, Myrtle Walden, Thelma Louise Marcum, Zelma Neal and Ottie Pearl Smith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens near Castleton.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edward W. Sowers
ARCADIA – Edward W. Sowers, 72, Arcadia, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at Community North Hospital.
Born May 13, 1935 in Cicero, he was the son of Frank and Effie (Wiles) Sowers. On Oct. 11, 1953, he married Peggy Louise VanMeter. She survives.
He had worked at Grady Asphalt and Graves Trucking Company. He also farmed and was a livestock dealer and hauler. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rick Sowers and Jamie Sowers, both of Arcadia; two daughters, Susan Roney and Lori Anderson, both of Arcadia; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Sowers, and five siblings, Howard Sowers, Wayne Sowers, Marge Guilkey, Evelyn McGill and Carolyn Sumner.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel. Pastors Ron Kelly and Aaron Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cicero Seventh Day Adventist Church or the American Cancer Society, c/o Hartley Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 476, Arcadia, IN 46030.

Robert Florey
FLORENCE, Ky. – Robert C. Florey, 82, Owenton, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital-West in Florence, Ky.
Born Aug. 12, 1925 in Tipton, he was the son of the late John T. and Opal M. Florey.
He was a retired accountant, a member of Alpha Tau Omega at Indiana University, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary R. Yuellig Florey; a son, Scott Craig Florey of Batavia, Ohio; four daughters, Traci Webb and Sandi Sumerfield of Colerain Township, Ohio, Karen Hudak of Fairfield, Ohio and Melodie Stormann of Mason, Ohio; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John T. “Sam” Florey Jr.
A memorial service took place Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes in Owenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
