Stella B. Dyer
NOBLESVILLE – Stella B. Dyer, 49, of Noblesville, died July 22, 2008 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born June 12, 1959 in Kingsport, Tenn., the daughter of Gus and Marlene (Tyner) Dyer.
She worked at Coin-O-Wash in Noblesville and later was self-employed in residential cleaning.
She attended the New Light Christian Center in Noblesville.
Survivors include her father, Gus Dyer of Elwood; a sister, Denise Davis of Noblesville; a brother, Tracy Dyer of Alexandria; half brother, John Dyer of Anderson; two nephews; and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, with Pastor Chad Fultz officiating. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Melodie Louise Coverdale
NOBLESVILLE – Melodie Louise Coverdale, 66, Noblesville, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008.
Born March 18, 1942 in Tipton County, she was the daughter of Joseph Robert and Gladys Marie (Purkey) Thomas.
She was a 1960 graduate of Jackson Central High School.
A homemaker, she was a member of Cicero American Legion Auxiliary and Noblesville Moose Lodge.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie L. Carte of Carmel; two sons, Bruce A. “Tony” Dunn of Fishers and Derek L. Coverdale of Arcadia; a brother, Bruce D. Thomas of Noblesville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel. The Rev. Andrew Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow at Cicero Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Ruth Bell
Mary Ruth Bell, 82, of Elwood, died July 24, 2008 at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Elwood.
She attended Elwood schools.
She retired in 1983 after 31 years of service at Delco Remy in Anderson where she worked in production.
She was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church and a former member of the Elwood Home Economics Club. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Dale H. Bell, whom she married May 27, 1945; a son, Dale Bell Jr. and wife, Anita Bell of Elwood; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lena E. (Silvey) Crochett; a son, Charles E. Bell; a daughter, Sharon Phillips; a sister, Ruby Janney; and two brothers, Bob Crockett and Merle Crockett.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Gardner of the East Main Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place at athe Elwood City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Richard E. Clem
Richard E. Clem, 86, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Regional Hospital in Lafayette.
Born Nov. 27, 1921 in Owen County, he was the son of Carl E. and Mary Alice (George) Clem. He married Lucille Russell. She preceded him in death.
He was retired from Boise Cascade Corporation. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was active in the Philippine liberation.
He is survived by a sister, Laura Johnson of Windfall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and five brothers.
Private family services will take place at a later date.
Porter Funeral Home in Tipton is in charge of arrangements.
Rickey A. Morphew
ALEXANDRIA – Rickey A. Morphew, 56, Lynnville, Tenn., died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at his residence..
He was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Elwood, the son of Payton A. Morphew Jr. and Marie (Wisener) Morphew.
He was a 1969 graduate of Kirby High School in Kirby, Ark.
He had worked for Guide Lamp, formerly of Anderson and retired from Saturn in Spring Hill, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Scott) Morphew, whom he married March 24, 1979; a son, Caleb Morphew of Lynnville, Tenn.; a daughter, Haylee Morphew of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Marie Morphew of Alexandria; two sisters, Lynda Odom of Alexandria and Reva Reedy of Hot Spring, Ark.; a brother, Terry Morphew of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Payton Morphew Jr., who died Jan. 8, 2005.
A service celebrating Rickey’s life will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria, with the Rev. Robert Morphew and Rich Leavell officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Disposition of the cremains will take place at the convenience of the family.

Earl J. Weaver
ANDERSON – Earl J. Weaver, 88, Anderson, died July 31, 2008, at Community Hospital in Anderson.
He was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Summitville, the son of Bill and Vada Weaver.
He was a graduate of Summitville High School.
He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He served in the European Theater.
He retired from Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, in 1990 after 48 years employment.
Survivors include his wife, Marcille (Owens) Weaver; three sons, John Carpenter of Point Isabel, Bill Carpenter of Defiance, Ohio and Bobby Weaver of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Doris Webster of Fowlerton; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mozelle Woodruff.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home in Summitville, with Brian Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery
in Summit-ville with military honors provided by the Elwood VFW Post 5782.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
C. Gertrude Robertson
ALEXANDRIA – C. Gertrude F. “Gertie” (Etchison) Robertson, 93, Alexandria, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Community Hospital, Anderson.
Born June 12, 1915, in Alexan-dria, she was the daughter of Noah Etchison and Maude (Owens) Etchison Feighner.
She graduated in 1936 from the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis.
She worked for the Alexandria Glove Factory for 18 years. She had also worked at the Star Glove Factory in Kokomo for 12 years retiring from there in 1973.
She was a volunteer for the former Area 6 Nutrition Site (now LifeStream) at the Alexandria Community Center for 27 years.
She attended the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene, and Grace Baptist Church of Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Ann Short, Marion and Joyce Ellen Kane, Anderson; a brother, Richard E. Feighner, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James H. Robertson, whom she married June 30, 1938 and who died July 14, 1977; four grandchildren; brothers, Charles Etchison, Verle Pine, Basil Etchison, Harold “Gabby” Etchison, and Roy “Dutch” Etchison, sisters, Pearl Edwards, and Bessie Sigler; stepfather, William E. Feighner; stepdaughter, Betty Barnett, and stepsons, Phillip Robertson and James W. Robertson.
A Homegoing Celebration will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria, with Pastor Leigh Crockett officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Clifford P. Whisler
ANDERSON – Clifford P. Whisler, 77, of Anderson, died July 31, 2008, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born March 25, 1931, in Tipton, the son of Ray and Edith Whisler.
He married Betty L. Whisler Nov. 25, 1964. She preceded him in death.
He worked for Anderson Community Schools and retired after 14 years in the maintenance and custodial department.
Clifford lived in Anderson all his life and was also an Anderson auxiliary police officer. He served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his children, Mary Ann Whisler of Anderson, Melissa and husband, John McGlothlin of Anderson, Thomas and wife, Amy Whisler of Alexandria and Alison and husband, Dale Beeson of Ohio; his stepchildren, Jennifer Hulse and Bob Hudson of Alexandria and Teresa and Toby Legg of Stanford; a brother, Gene and wife, Roberta Whisler; a sister, Lucille and husband, Bill Avery; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Virgil Whisler, Bill Whisler, James Whisler and Charles Whisler; and a sister, Darllin Helen Whisler.
Funeral services were today at the Robert D. Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, South Chapel, in Anderson. The Rev. John Hackney officiated. Burial was in East Maplewood Cemetery
in Anderson. military rites were performed by the VFW No. 266.
The family would like to give special thanks to the people at Community Hospital, the Cancer Center, Hospice and the family doctor that took care of Clifford.
