Penney Co. and Stillmans, retiring in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Veronica Fritz of Indianapolis; and a grandchild. Her husband, Edward H., died in 1983. Services at noon Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour before services. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to National Stroke Association, 9707 E. CAROLYN E. ROGERS, 93, died Saturday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Chicago, she owned and operated Rogers Wreath Co. Her husband, Gilbert, died in 1975. Surviving are two sons, Glen of Angola and Gilbert of Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Charlotte McQuown of Clearwater, Fla., and Carolyn Shreeve of Valley Lee, Md.; two sisters, Marge Clarke of Koontz Lake and Betty Hay of Galva, Ill.; a brother, Bernard Finch of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services at 2 p.m. Monday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, with calling after 12:30 p.m. until services. Burial in Circle Hill cemetery, Angola. Memorials to Angola Moose Lodge or Epilepsy Foundation.

FRIEDA M. KNOTT, 94, died Tuesday at Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett. Born in Auburn, she was an accountant at the former Schaab's Department Store and retired in 1989 as a secretary from Mefford & Carpenter Law Offices after 20 years. Surviving are a brother, Robert J. Knott of LaOtto; two nieces, Barbara Klies of Conway, Ark., and Judy Harshman of Garrett; and six nephews, Fred Knott, William Knott and Dick Wildeson, all of LaOtto, Jim Knott of Garrett, John Wildeson of Naperville, Ill., and Bob Bowman of Waterloo. EUGENE A. "GENE" THOMAS, 80, died Tuesday at DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn. Born in Toledo, he retired in 1982 as a chief engineer in the Merchant Marine after 26 years and had also been a third, second and then first assistant engineer in Maritime Service. He was a member of the Northeast Indiana Golden Gloves Hall of Fame. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; a son, Alan M.; a daughter, Carole A. Baynes; and a grandchild.

He was treasurer for Monroeville EMS for 21 years and a CPR instructor at EMS for 25 years. He was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran. His wife, Phyllis A., died in 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. Mueller of Fort wayne; a son, David J. of New Haven; a sister, Betty J. Gonzales of Cave Creek, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lasch. Services at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatur, with calling one hour before services. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville.
