Lavada Buttrum
Lavada E. McIntosh Buttrum, 86, of Evansville, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
She was a secretary for Steve Hahn’s State Farm Insurance Co. for 19 years, bookkeeper for Elmendorf’s and had been secretary for the vice president of the McCurdy Hotel.
She was a graduate of Bosse High School and attended Lockyear Business College.
She was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and several card clubs.
Surviving are three daughters, Jane N. Pierson of Fayetteville, N.C., Joy E. Izumi of San Diego, Calif., and Jennifer S. Brown of Newburgh; a son, the Rev. Alan McIntosh of Farmersville, Ill.; a sister, Ardell Diver of Redlands, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Amy Pierson, Beth Thompson, Susan Whittle, Katie and Nick Brown, Sara Bates and Ryan and Erin Izumi; and five great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Ralph Wesley McIntosh, died in 1964, and her second, Verble Eugene Buttrum, died in 1997.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, the Rev. Alan McIntosh officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mabel Osborne
Mabel Osborne, 83, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Good Samaritan Home.
She had worked at the dietary department in the Vanderburgh School Corp. and the Protestant Home.
She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Concordia Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, Terrell and James, both of Evansville; a half brother, Glen Shelton of Florida; nine grandchildren, Russell, Kerry, Justin and Joshua Osborne, Terri Euler, Cathryn Kelley, Susan Baize, Helen Carter and Donna Tramill; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Russell, died in 1966.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Barry Kirves officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home.

Thelma Crockett
Thelma May Slayton Crockett, 75, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the McCurdy Residential Center of congestive heart failure.
She had worked for 10 years at North American Aviation in California and for seven years Hoosier Cardinal.
She was a member of the Eagles.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Slayton of Elberfeld; two sons, John Wright of Clermont, Fla., and Charles Slayton Jr. of Evansville; two brothers, Thurman Luttrull of California, and James Luttrull of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Edgar Norris Wright, died in World War II, her second, Charles Slayton Sr., died in 1969 and her third husband, Richard Crockett, died in 1986.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Karl Crowe officiating, with burial in Zion cemetery in Elberfeld.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Rollie Tucker
Rollie R. Tucker, 61, of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of congestive heart failure.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, sang tenor in the church chorus and lead in the Evansville Song Fellows.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Jacqueline (Claspell); four daughters, Julie Tucker of Bedford, Ind., Kathleen Worley of Evansville, Marybeth Hess of Seymour, Ind., and Angela Koestring of Newburgh; two sons, Gary J. and Rollie J., both of Evansville; three sisters, Mary Gail Williams of Wadesville, Ind., Cathy Sigler of Evansville and Carol Gilles of Boonville, Ind.; four brothers, Tommy Tucker of Washington, Ind., Donnie Tucker and Ted Gilles, both of Evansville, and Gerald Gilles of Montana; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiating, with burial in Walnut Hill cemetery in Fort Branch, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 6 p.m.

James Reeves III
James Samuel Reeves III, 23, of Ridgeway, S.C., formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in a one-car accident in Ridgeway.
He worked in landscaping.
He was a 1995 graduate of Bosse High School and had been on the varsity basketball squad for two years.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Donna and Cody Middleswart Jr. of Florida; his stepmother, Terry of Evansville; his father, James S. Reeves Jr. of Evansville; a sister, Jamie Reeves of Ridgeway; two stepbrothers, Craig and Chris Kohler, both of Evansville; grandparents, Richard Reid, Bonnie S. (McCaffry) Reeves and Ella Crofts; a great-grandmother; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Werry Funeral Home New Harmony Chapel, the Rev. Robert George officiating, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery in New Harmony, Ind.

Carolyn Jones
Carolyn Sue Jones, 62, formerly of Evansville, died Sunday at her home in Duquoin, Ill., from complications of diabetes.
She was a member of Edwardsport Christian Church.
Surviving are a sister, Betty Green of Indianapolis; two brothers, Gary W. Jones of Haubstadt and Robert M. Jones of Wildwood, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Edwardsport Town cemetery in Duquoin. There will be a private family memorial service Friday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel.
Catherine Mayes
CYNTHIANA, Ind. — Catherine Mayes, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
She was Pentecostal.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Shelby; seven daughters, Lisa Alvey of Griffin, Karen Todd of Greenville, Ky., Shirley Gee and Sandra Paul, both of Cynthiana, Mary Gish of St. Wendel, Faye Williams of Garden Grove, Calif., and Pat Williams of Evansville; two sons, Donald Crull of Haubstadt and David Mayes of Evansville; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Sharon Gee, died in 1977 and a son, Joseph Crull, died in 1988.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, with burial in Liberty cemetery.

Larry Herr
LYNNVILLE, Ind. — Larry A. Herr, 51, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville of cancer.
He was a self-employed contractor and member of the United Mine Workers.
He attended Bethabara General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Misty of Boonville; a son, Shawn Dempsey of Rockport; his mother, Lillian Herr of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Evans of Lynnville, Margaret Forehand of Fort Myers, and Verna Curry of Dale; a half sister, Terri Lynn Payne of Fort Myers; a brother, Eugene of Lynnville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home, with burial in Lynnville cemetery.

James Henderson
ROCKPORT, Ind. — James Roy “Buddy” Henderson, 57, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at his home. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
He was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Donna; two sons, James of Tell City and Rodney of Rockport; his mother, Ethel Henderson of Richland; four sisters, Sue Cameron of Chrisney, Faye Miller and Dorothy Goodwin, both of Rockport, and Lucille Zoglman of Chrisney; two brothers, Hilray of Hatfield and Earl of Tell City; and five grandchildren, Christopher Murray, Brittany, Amity, Corey and Dakota Henderson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with burial in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield.

Ivan Nation
MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Ivan Wayne Nation, 61, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He had a heart condition.
He was a carpenter for Charles Lawrence Homes in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are three daughters, Vicky Campbell of St. Marys, W.Va., and Linda Nelson and Joann Garrett, both of Evansville; four sons, David, Steven Wayne and Jarrod, all of Mount Vernon, and John of Evansville; his mother, Mary Jane (Mosley) Nation of Mount Vernon; a sister, Judith Thompson of Mount Vernon; five brothers, James and Roger, both of Evansville, Don and Edward, both of Mount Vernon, and Michael of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.
A son, John Wayne, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel, with burial in Moore cemetery.

Gene Snodgrass
Led fire department for 25 years
YANKEETOWN, Ind. — Gene Snodgrass, the chief of the Yankeetown Volunteer Fire Department, died Sunday at age 64.
He had been chief for 25 years.
Snodgrass died of respiratory failure at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
“He was definitely an active member and it will be a loss to the firefighting community, ” said Bil Musgrave, a Chandler volunteer firefighter.
Musgrave said he knew Snodgrass from working numerous fires with him for many years.
Snodgrass, a U.S. Army veteran, worked as a coal miner for 23 years. He joined the Yankeetown fire department in 1961.
Surviving are his wife, Janice of Yankeetown; two daughters, Cheryl Cook and Tonya Bell, both of Yankeetown; a son, Terry Snodgrass of Yankeetown; three sisters, Erma Pfingston of Yankeetown, Donna Cobb of Greenville, S.C., and Mary Sue Leslie of Lynnville, Ind.; four brothers, Owen and Cleve Snodgrass Jr., both of Boonville, Ind., Ray Snodgrass of Merriam, Ind., and Albert Snodgrass of Lawrenceville, Ill.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Bates Hill cemetery in Yankeetown.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday to service time at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
