POSEYVILLE, Ind. — Anna May Mobley McGarry, 89, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

Surviving are two daughters, Deloris Boykin and Nancy Garrett, both of Princeton; two sons, Charles Mobley of Mount Vernon and Jerry Mobley of Marion, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Mobley, in 1960, her second husband, Lyle McGarry, in 1981, and two sons, Richard and John Mobley.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Werry Funeral Home Poseyville Chapel, with burial in Poseyville cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wish Upon A Star.

Harold McCarter

BRUCEVILLE, Ind. — Harold “Jack” McCarter, 81, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

He had been a truck driver for Baltic Mills and attended the Bruceville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, James “Jim” of Vincennes; a brother, Bruce of Fairbanks, Alaska; and a granddaughter, Kathleen McCarter.

His wife, Maxine (Phillippe), died in 1993.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home Bruceville Chapel, with burial in Bruceville cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

William Price

POSEYVILLE, Ind. — William Ray “Bill” Price, 77, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at New Harmonie Healthcare Center.

He had worked for Stahl Packing Co., and was a thoroughbred horse trainer.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the Poseyville American Legion Post 278 and the Old Union Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Bea (Hancock); a daughter, Becky Meador of Evansville; three sons, Guy Wayne of New Harmony, Tony Ray of Mount Vernon and Howard Leslie of Poseyville; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Werry Funeral Home Poseyville Chapel, with burial in Saulmon cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to service time.

John Chapman Sr.

CHANDLER, Ind. — John R. Chapman Sr., 54, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center from a heart attack.

He retired from Peabody Coal Co./Lynnville Mine in 1991. He and his wife of 36 years, Trish, were foster parents for 16 years.

He was a member of the Christ Apostolic Church and board member of the Blackhawk Bow Hunters Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Christy Embry of Boonville and Carol Chapman of Chandler; two sons, Thomas of Chandler and Robbie of Newburgh; three sisters, Imogene Whitaker of Boonville, Marion Sprinkle of Belleville, Ill., and Helen Kuntzman of South Bend; and nine grandchildren, Morgan, Natasha, Alexis and John Chapman and Lydia, Kimberly, Jessica, Emily and Ben Embry.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bradey’s Colonial Chapel in Boonville, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Lucille Brewster

VINCENNES, Ind. — Lucille L. Brewster, 89, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She had worked at Brown Shoe Factory, Hamilton Glass, Good Samaritan Hospital and Headstart.

She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Long of Wheatland, Ind.; a son, Larry TeVault of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Paula Hankins of Vincennes; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Bethel United Church of Christ in Freelandville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Trail Hospice or the church.

Bernice Berman

Bernice L. (Heggy) Berman, 83, of Evansville, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

She was a 1933 graduate of Reitz High School and a graduate of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and the Michael Reese Hospital School of Surgical and Operating Room Technique in Chicago.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the YWCA, the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science and the Museum Guild, the Kennel Club, the Evansville Country Club, where she was a former member of the 9-Hole Golf Association, and a former member of the Sinawik Club and Evansville Garden Club.

She was a girl scout leader for 12 years and a former volunteer registered nurse for the American Red Cross. She was also a world traveler.

Surviving are two daughters, JoAnn DePriest and Janet B. Mackay, both of Evansville; a sister, Elizabeth H. Nowikowski of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Alexandra L. and Jonathan W. DePriest and Adrienne and Melissa Mackay.

Her husband, Louis, died in 1984.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Stephen Johnson and Rabbi David Feder officiating, with entombment in Rose Hill cemetery in Evansville.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or to the Evansville YWCA.

Eldon Robinson

Eldon Lynn “Robbie” Robinson, 85, of Evansville, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Columbia Health Care Facility.

He retired in 1983 as a City-County Heating Inspector and was a 50-year member of Sheet Metal Union Local 20.

He was a life member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Flora, Ill., and attended Keck Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge 64, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine and the Eagles and served as a Republican precinct committeeman for 35 years.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jessie L.; two daughters, Phyllis Knowles and Emma Lee Eberhart, both of Evansville; and four grandchildren, Andrea and Gregory Eberhart and Gary and Julie Knowles.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Ron Osborne officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to service time, with a Masonic service at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Beulah Hausafus

Beulah M. (Reiman) Hausafus, 72, of Evansville, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of cancer.

She was a retired nurse, a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a board member of Planned Parenthood.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Evansville and a Sunday School leader at First Presbyterian Church in Granite City, Ill. She was also a member of the Granite City Eastern Star and served as a girl scout leader in Granite City and on the PTA Board in Granite City and Evansville.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Richard; a daughter, M. Jean Taylor of Frankfort, Ill.; a brother, Dean Reiman of Murphysboro, Ill.; and a grandson, Brad A. Taylor.

Services will be at 12:45 p.m. today at the Georgian Chapel at Park Lawn cemetery, the Rev. Wendy McCormick officiating, with entombment in Park Lawn cemetery.

There will be no visitation at Boone Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Ruby Carlton

Ruby G. Carlton, 78, of Evansville, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.

She was a former member of the Rescue Mission and made award-winning quilts that were published in the magazine Quilters World.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah and Wendy Carlton, both of Evansville, and Elizabeth Annette of South Carolina; two sons, Bruce and Brian, both of Evansville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oatley Carlton, in 1987, and by a daughter, Lillian J. Anderson, in 1998.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home, the Rev. Leonard Harmon officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Barbara Crudo

Barbara (Adams) Crudo, 69, formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at her home in San Francisco of cancer.

She worked at Old National Bank in Evansville.

She was a Catholic laywoman and a member of Old St. Mary’s Center and the Legion of Mary and a member and past president of St. Cecilia’s Mothers Club and St. Ignatius College Preparatory Mothers Guild.

She was a 1949 graduate of Memorial High School, where she was class president for three years.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Paul; two daughters, Elizabeth Gabb and Amy Crudo Stevens, both of San Francisco; four sons, Tim, John, Peter and James, all of San Francisco; three sisters, Jane Adams and Mary Elise Weber, both of Evansville, and Colleen Behme of Washington, Ind.; two brothers, Jerry Tucker and Larry Adams, both of Evansville; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia’s Church in San Francisco, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Arthur J. Sullivan & Co. Funeral Home in San Francisco and after 7 p.m. Monday, with a vigil at 7:30 p.m., at St. Cecilia’s Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Cecilia’s Parish, St. Ignatius College Preparatory or to Hospice by the Bay.
