Dorothy Ramsey

WASHINGTON, Ind. — Dorothy Evelyn Ramsey, 89, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center.

She retired from Daviess Community Hospital as a nurse’s aide.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, YMCA and Linger Longer H.D. Club.

She attended Glendale School.

Surviving are her husband, Leo; two sons, Robert Dale and Max Alvin, both of Louisville; four stepsons, Leo of Owensville, Elmo and Gary, both of Washington, and Dencil of Loogootee; a sister, Eunice Manrone of Washington; a brother, Meredith Batchelor of Washington; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth James.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Free Methodist Church, with burial in New Veale Creek cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gill Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church.

Judith McGrew

PRINCETON, Ind. — Judith A. “Judy” McGrew, 60, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Gibson General Hospital of a heart attack.

She worked as a babysitter.

She was a member of Bethel Memorial Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara McGrew of Princeton; a son, Ray of Seaton, Ill.; her mother, Phoeba Bilderback of Princeton; four sisters, Lily Elliott of Mount Vernon, Connie VanMeter of Winslow, Janet Powers of Owensville and Nancy Bulloch of Fort Branch; a brother, Ronnie Bilderback of Fort Branch; and three grandsons, Randy, Dustin and Derek McGrew.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Shiloh cemetery in Hazleton.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Memorial Church Building Fund.

Shirley Stephens

PETERSBURG, Ind. — Shirley Stephens, 55, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at her home of cancer.

She had worked for the Pike County Court System since 1963 as a court reporter.

Surviving are her husband, Don; a son, Brett of Petersburg; and three brothers, Robert Chamberlain of Haughton, La., and James Edward and Marvin Chamberlain, both of Petersburg.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Petersburg Free Methodist Church Outreach Ministry.

Lillian Swope

Lillian (Elliott) Outlaw Swope, 90, of Evansville, formerly of Henderson, Ky., died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

She was a member of the Church of God in Christ in Cairo, Ky., and served as church mother and a Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are two daughters, Geneva Jenkins of Evansville and Goldie Davidson of Bowling Green, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Louise Swope of Gary, Ind.; two stepsons, James of Evansville and Henry L. of Milwaukee; a sister, Carrie Barbee of Clarksville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Lonnie, died in 1980.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Henderson, Ky., the Rev. Anthony Brooks officiating, with burial in Thomas-Swope cemetery in Cairo, Ky.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel in Evansville, and from 4 to 8 p.m at the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Henderson, with a wake service beginning at 6 p.m.

Ann Stanley

Ann Rebecca Stanley, 81, sister of Clara Robbins of Evansville, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at her home in Dover, Tenn.

Also surviving are her husband, Thomas M.; two daughters, Susan J. Heina of Florida, and Sharon K. Marasco of Ocala, Fla.; a son, Thomas M. Jr. of Chandler, Ariz.; four sisters, Mary Heidron of Boonville, Ind., Ruth Keethers of Tennyson, Ind., Naomi Splittorff of Elberfeld, Ind., and Mildred Stork of Fort Smith, Ark.; six brothers, Alfred L. Callis of Martinsville, Ind., Alvin E., Arthur W. and Arvil R. Callis, all of Boonville, George L. Callis of Chandler, Ind., and James R. Callis of Eddyville, Ky.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sykes Funeral Home in Dover, Tenn., with burial in Stanley cemetery in Union City, Tenn.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Edgar Worman

Edgar L. Worman, 81, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Columbia Health Care Facility.

He retired after 30 years with Whirlpool Corp. in 1976 and was a member of the Whirlpool Management Club and the Evansville Foreman’s Club.

He was a lifelong member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn R.; three daughters, Mary Ann Wasson and Joyce W. Hubbard, both of Evansville, and Kathy Yancey of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Vangie Phillips of Evansville; two brothers, Forrest of New Harmony, Ind., and Bill of Cadiz, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Scott, Brent and Brian Wasson, Cindy Reason, Rick and Brad Yancey and Andy, Ryan and Adam Hubbard; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Baptist Church, the Rev. Robert E. Cox Sr. officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel and from 11 a.m. to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Marie Bingemer

Marie E. Bingemer, 89, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at her home.

She had worked for Shane Manufacturing.

She was Protestant.

Surviving are six daughters, Betty Weber, Kathy Stone and Violet Lauer, all of Evansville, Mary Louise Pierce of Uniontown, Ky., Lena Mae Sachs of St. Philip, Ind., and Vickie Templeton and her husband, Joe, of Evansville, who cared for her; a son, Charles of Pawleys Island, S.C.; 25 grandchildren, including, Cliftia White, who cared for her; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Lawrence, died in 1972.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. James Reilly officiating, with burial in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ cemetery in Parkers Settlement, Ind.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Racine

Mary Belle Racine, 86, of Evansville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Brentwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Surviving are three daughters, Laverne Winstead and Diana Hudson, both of Evansville, and Norma Brewster of Newburgh; four sons, John and Donald Gulley and Robert “Butch” Racine, all of Evansville, and Ronald Gulley of Richland, Ind.; two sisters, Lillian Green and Daisy Mitchell, both of Evansville; two brothers, Leland and Bill Cundiff, both of Evansville; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, the Rev. Joe Mitchell officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Henry Cusic

Henry Cusic, 87, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.

He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1975.

He was Catholic.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Louise Wilson of Central City, Ky., and Betty Warner of Indianapolis; and three brothers, Charles, Sam and Jim, all of Evansville.

Services will be private, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

There will be no visitation at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Howard Ulrich

Howard “Junk Iron” Ulrich, 73, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at North Park Nursing Center of congestive heart failure.

He was an Army veteran and member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ in Evansville.

Surviving are a daughter, Eva Basham of Riverdale, Ga.; a son, Joseph L. of Evansville; three sisters, Donna Lou Morse, and Deloris Jenson, both of Grand Island, Neb., and Betty Aetner of Nebraska; seven brothers, Clarence of Omaha, Neb., Arlene of Wayne, Neb., Stanley of Marion, Ohio, Don of New Mexico, Benny of Fort Worth, Texas, John of Ray, Colo., and Bobby of Texas; and seven grandchildren.

His wife, Ivy Evelyn, died in 1998.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Home Livermore Chapel, with burial in Island Baptist cemetery in McLean County.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the church.

Edith Beasley

Edith Beasley, 94, of Evansville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

There are no immediate survivors.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locust Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
