William J. Barth
ALEXANDRIA – William J. “Bill” Barth, 69, of Alexandria, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born July 29, 1939, in Alexandria, to Paul W. and Mary (Tinker) Barth.
He had resided in Alexandria all his lifetime.
Bill attended Alexandria schools and entered the United States Air Force in 1957. He received his high school diploma while enlisted in the Air Force and graduated through Alexandria-Monroe High School Class of 1963.
He retired from Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, in 2007 after 45 years employment.
Bill loved midget and sprint car racing. He drove race cars in the mid 1960s. In more recent years, he played a very active and important role in supporting his nephews in their sprint car careers as Barth Racing.
Survivors include two brothers, Bob and wife, Sue Barth of Alexandria and Gene and wife, Eloise Barth of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Emma Massie of Vincennes; long time companion, Cleta Foley of Chesterfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986; his mother in 1993; a brother, Ronnie Barth; a sister, Barbara Harris; a niece, Susan Muey; and an infant great-great-niece, Katie Marie.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria, with Pastor Jerry Young of the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria, officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

Norma Jane Burket
Norma Jane Burket, 79, Tipton, died at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born May 22, 1929 in Tipton, she was the daughter of Cloiyde and LaVerne (Pitcher) Porter. On Oct. 24, 1946, she married Donald G. Burket. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Norma enjoyed woodworking, gardening, crafts and playing the piano.
In addition to her husband, Don, she is survived by five children, Steven Burket and wife Marlene of Bradenton, Fla., Debra Bowman of Kokomo, Jane Galloway and husband Joe of Kokomo, Rex Burket and wife Rhonda of Kokomo and Brian Burket and wife Laura of Walton; two sisters, Jeanne Maynard of Tipton and Marge Storer of Kohler, Wis.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Michael Burket, Tyson Schoolman, Kyle and Brett Galloway, Ashleigh, Tracey, Rex and Noah Burket, Matt Burket and Allison Sears; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Riley and Karsyn Schoolman.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Burket, and her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Ward will preside. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 911 E 86th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Roger C. Johnson
SUMMITVILLE – Roger C. Johnson, 62, of Summitville, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home in Summitville.

Robert G. Swart
FRANKTON – Robert G. Swart, 100, formerly of Frankton, died Sunday at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville.
He was born April 26, 1908 in Frankton, the son of Charles and Katherine (Gentry) Swart.
He married Lois A. Ault Feb. 27, 1937. She died July 1, 1996.
He retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson and was a member of the Frankton Christian Church and UAW 663.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Etchison of Cicero; a son, Dan Swart of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Marvin and Clare Swart.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton, with the Rev. Tim Lueking officiating. Burial will be in the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jeremy S. Ankrom
ANDERSON – Jeremy S. Ankrom, 26, Anderson, died Fri-day, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence.
He was born March 28, 1982 in Tipton, the son of Jerry L. and Toni (Armstrong) Ankrom.
He received his GED diploma from Alexandria-Monroe High School with the Class of 2001.
He had worked for Custom Cast Stone Inc. in Westfield.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Toni Ankrom of Ander-son; a sister, Nicci Likens of Anderson; a brother, Nathan Michael Ankrom of Albany; a niece; a nephew; maternal grandparents, Bob and Janice Arm-strong of Alexandria; paternal grandparents, Margaret and Robert Hall of Anderson and Merle and Darlene Ankrom of Waymart, Penn.; and great-grandmother, Euthenia Armstrong of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Paul Armstrong; paternal grandparents, Emmett and Elsie Ankrom, Viola and Ora Garrett; and daughter, Leia Walsh.
Private family services will take place at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Owens Funeral Home to assist with expenses.

Jean L. “George” Richards
KOKOMO – Jean L. “George“ Richards, 76, Kokomo, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at Tipton Hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1932 in Kenosha, Wis., she was the daughter of Kenneth and Eleanor (Ragnar) Oliver. On Feb. 26, 1958, she married Edgar Richards. He survives.
She was a farm wife, housewife and homemaker. She attended the Nazarene and Baptist churches.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kevin Richards of Windfall, Lisa McKee of Silver Lake and Tamela Norton of Okeechobee, Fla. and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home in Tipton

Anita Gale Christian
SENECA, S.C. – Anita Gale Christian, 49, Seneca, S.C., died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Cottingham House in Seneca. Funeral arrangements are pending at Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville.

Gene Ice
SUMMITVILLE – Gene Ice, 82, Summitville, died Sept. 4, 2008, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla.
He was born July 13, 1926, in Summitville, the son of Arthur and Mamie (Boze) Ice.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and received his high school diploma while in the Navy.
He had worked as a driver and dispatcher for Krevda Brothers Trucking, formerly of Gas City, retiring in 1979 and at Cates Trucking, formerly of Swayzee, for 10 years.
He was a former member of the Fairmount American Legion and a current member of the Lakeland, Fla. American Legion. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lakeland.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Evans Ice, whom he married March 28, 1948; five daughters, Pam Wilson and Gayle Behm of Summitville, Lynda Swantner of Upland, Nancy Hardin of Pine Knot, Ky. Peggy Lesley of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Gaylen Ice of Camden, Mich.; several grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Agnes Moyer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home in Summitville, with the Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

Mary Jane Pyle
ALEXANDRIA – Mary Jane (Sizelove) Pyle, 93, of Alexandria, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born July 15, 1915, in Alexandria, the daughter of Edmund and Blanche (Cox) Whipple.
She was a 1933 graduate of Alexandria High School.
She retired from Plant 10 at Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, in 1980 after 30 years of employment.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Broshears and Janice Phelps, both of Alexandria; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold Sizelove, who died in 1938; her second husband, Johnie Pyle, 1996; sons, John Sizelove and Richard “Dick” Sizelove; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria, with Pastor Jerry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
