Barbara Jones
Barbara Gail Jones, 42, of Evansville, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus of respiratory failure.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert “Scooter” Caine of Evansville and Scottie Caine of Terre Haute, Ind.; her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Roger Marks of Evansville; three sisters, Phyllis Miracle and Stacy Sanchez, both of Evansville, and Ronda Leach of Cromwell, Ky.; four brothers, Jimmie Darnell, Ronnie Mayes, Eric Marks and Bradford Miracle, all of Evansville; two grandchildren, Tyler and Courtney Caine; nieces and nephews; and her fiance, Herman Oliver of Evansville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Park Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, with Gene and Rosemary Lloyd officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral East Chapel and from 10 a.m. to service time at Park Lawn Mausoleum Chapel.

Dr. Lester Wroe
Dr. Lester Leroy Wroe, 79, of Newburgh, formerly of Chrisney, Ind., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at his home.
He had been a veterinarian for 30 years in Rockport and Newburgh and was a member of the State Board of Health.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and member of the American Legion Post 0044.
He was a 50-year member of the Rockport Masonic Lodge.
He collected Indian relics.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Russell of Hatfield; a son, Dr. Ed Wroe of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Iona Hesson of Chrisney; a brother, Willis of Richland; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Chrisney, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Pete Powell
Pete Herman Powell, 47, of Newburgh, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. The Vanderburgh
County coroner is investigating the death.
He had worked at Southern Indiana Gas & Electric Co., Warrick Coal Yard since 1988, at Sterling Brewery, at Wright Mine and at Wescott Associates.
He was past president of the Newburgh Lions Club, a member of IBEW Local 702, Promise Keepers, Tres Dias Community and Poor Man’s Country Club.
He was an outreach elder at Zion United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Diana (Kennedy); a daughter, Kriston Powell of Newburgh; a son, Brinton of Newburgh; a sister, Jeannine Johnson of Midway, Ind.; two brothers, Skip Walters of Boonville, Ind., and Scott Walters of St. Louis; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, the Rev. Donald Kanet officiating, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to College Trust Fund for Kriston and Brinton Powell at Civitas Bank.
Uriah Dixon
PETERSBURG, Ind. — Uriah D. “Jack” Dixon, 64, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was a farmer, had worked for Ball Plastic Corp. in Evansville for 22 years and was a truck driver for Roberts Express for 10 years.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a member of the Mission of Faith Church.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Barbara (Pendley); a daughter, Kimberly A. Elder; four sons, Phillip and Roger, both of Petersburg, Thomas of Winslow and Mark G. Arnold of Evansville; a sister, Nellie Osborn of Evansville; six grandchildren, Misty Arnold, Andrew, Amber and Ashley Dixon, and Courtney and Caitlyn Elder; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, with burial in Cloin cemetery in Pike County.

James Coatney
WASHINGTON, Ind. — James A. Coatney, 67, formerly of Vincennes, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes of cancer.
He owned and operated Jim’s Hot Fish in Vincennes.
He was a Korean War Army veteran, serving as a radio operator.
He attended St. Simon Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose and Eagles.
Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Burkhart of Vincennes; two sons, Douglas G. of Danville and Christopher of Bruceville; two sisters, Carol Jaggar and Mary Jane Gilliatt, both of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; a brother, Frederick R. of Shawnee Mission; eight grandchildren; a stepgrandson; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Nancy Caroline (Shake), died in 1985.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST today at Ed Lee Mortuary, with burial in St. John’s cemetery.

Pauline Winkleman
NEW HARMONY, Ind. — Pauline Ethel Winkleman, 54, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her home of cancer.
Surviving are her husband, Troy; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Winkleman of New Harmony; a son, Mike Kelley of Poseyville; a brother, Roger Smith of Buffalo, Ohio; and two grandsons, Mike DeShawn and Nicholas Kelley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Werry Funeral Home Poseyville Chapel, with burial in Poseyville cemetery.

Larry Reel
BRUCEVILLE, Ind. — Larry D. Reel, 60, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes of an apparent heart attack.
He was a salesman with ROI Inc. of Indianapolis and had worked for 25 years with Dale Sales of Evansville.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon (Eubank); three daughters, Angela Wagner of Bruceville, Donna Moore of Lancaster, Ohio, and Jennifer Reel of Vincennes; two sons, J.D. of Bruceville and Brad of Freelandville; his mother, Mildred Reel of Vincennes; a sister, Jill Strahley of Vincennes; a brother, J.O. of Vincennes; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Thursday at McClure Funeral Home, with burial in Hamline Chapel cemetery in Monroe City.

Gerald Goldman
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Gerald Allen Goldman, 57, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, west of Huntingburg from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He worked for Jasper Engines and Transmissions.
He retired from the Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Christiana Greenblatt of White Lake, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Stacy Ocampo and Becky Spence, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Michael of Bloomington; his parents, Gerald A. and Goldie Goldman of Sellersburg; a brother, Jerry D. of Henryville; a grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.
The body will be cremated and there will be a gathering to visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. EST Thursday at Nass & Son Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dubois County Humane Society.
Cecil Burris
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Cecil B. Burris, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center.
He retired from the B&O; Railroad as a maintenance welder.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Hadi Shrine.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Nelson of Rochester, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Virginia Cresay of Washington; two stepsons, Donald Clark of Chicago and Kenneth Clark of Odon; two sisters, Lillian Burkhart of Washington and Marie Baker of Nashville, Ind.; three brothers, Wilbur, Kenneth and Harold, all of Washington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery, with military rites.

Charles Ludwig
TELL CITY, Ind. — Charles Ludwig, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville.
He had worked at General Electric in Tell City and retired from the General Electric plant in Owensboro, Ky.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, member of the American Legion Post 213, Moose, Masonic Lodge and the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a sister, Alberta Hooe of Evansville; a brother, Louis of Tell City; and a niece who cared for him, Sharon Broadhead of Poseyville.
His wife, Grace, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. EST Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 1 p.m.
