Leon Levon Hendricks
Leon Hendricks, 87, Tipton, passed away on Feb. 17, 2009 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton.
He was born to Elmer and Mary (Browning) Hendricks on July 24, 1921 in Howard County.
Leon married his wife Aletha on Jan. 18, 1946. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2008.
Leon served our country during WWII in the Navy. He later became a bus driver and mechanic.
Leon attended the Church of the Nazarene in Tipton.
Survivors include three sons; Ronald Hendricks of Iowa, Philip (Brenda) of Cicero and Rodger (Erika) Hendricks of Tipton; a brother; Robert “Jr.” Hendricks; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Along with his wife and parents, Leon was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
There will be no funeral services by Leon‘s request.

Gladys L. Thurber
ANDERSON – Gladys L. Thurber, 82, Anderson, went to be with her heavenly Father after an extended illness, Monday, July 20, 2009 at Community Hospital, Anderson.
She was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Anderson, the daughter of Harry and Kitty (Arnold) Decker. She had resided in Madison County most of her lifetime.
Gladys was retired from RCA, formerly of Marion after 23 years of employment. She had owned and operated B & G Ceramics and Crafts in rural Summitville for several years. She was an active member of Union Chapel Community Church of rural Summitville and the Profit and Pleasure Home Ec Club of Alexandria. Gladys enjoyed traveling, painting and fishing.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Calvin) Head of Anderson; four sons, Ted (J) Thurber of Dillsboro, Don (Sharon) Thurber of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert (Kelly) Thurber of Paoli, and Shelby (Laurie) Thurber of Summitville; three grandsons, six granddaughters, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce A. Decker of Anderson; several nieces and nephews, and many dear and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Robert O. Thurber on Jan. 1, 2004; a sister, Sally (Robert) Wood; and a step-brother, Charles (Pat) Austin.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Pastor Micheal Thompson of the Union Chapel Community Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union Chapel Community Church through the funeral home.

David F. Kelly
David Franklin Kelly, 57, previously of Elwood, died July 21, 2009 at Claiborn County Hospital in Tazewell, Tenn.
Arrangements are pending at Dunnichay Funeral Home.

Edward Joseph Tebbe
KOKOMO – Edward Joseph Tebbe 80, Kokomo, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born July 5, 1929 to the late Alvin and Dorothy (Scheidler) Tebbe in Tipton.
He married Juanita Snyder on Jan. 13, 1950 in Delphi. She survives.
Edward farmed in Tipton County, worked at Hy-Line International and Chippendale Golf Course until retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, John Tebbe and wife Joyce of Jacksonville, Ark.; three daughters, Mary Ann Grady and husband Steve of Princeton, Ky., Patty Tragesser and husband Gene of Tipton and Susan Harding and husband Bob of Kokomo; a brother, Norbert Tebbe and his wife Patricia of Windfall; a sister, Margaret Woods and husband Pat of Arcadia; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St. in Kokomo. Father Richard Lightsey will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ellers Mortuary Webster St. Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed's name may be made to We Care of Kokomo or The Ruth Lilly Hospice of Clarian.

Perry Willis Boyer Jr.
Perry Willis Boyer Jr., 64, of Elwood, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a sudden illness.
Perry was born in Elwood, Jan. 21, 1945 to Perry Willis Sr. and Dorothy Yocom Boyer. He lived in Elwood all his life.
He married Eugenia Forst June 12, 1971.
Perry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved hunting and shooting. He was a lifetime member and officer of the Elwood Conservation Club, a member of the Elks Lodge and an eight year member of the Elwood Glass Festival Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eugenia (Genie) Boyer; two sons, Paul Willis Boyer and wife, Amber Young Boyer of Fort Wayne and Karl Eugene Boyer of Elwood; grandchildren, Zane Allen Boyer, Adelle Celine Boyer and Allison Corinne Boyer; and his friend and companion, his pet Airedale, Muffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Stout officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Perry’s request was for memorial contributions to be made to his grandchildren’s scholarship fund through the funeral home or the Madison County Credit Union.

Robert L. Bozell
Robert L. "Rob" Bozell, 53, Tipton, died at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 near Rochester in a traffic accident.
Born July 11, 1956 in Kokomo, he was the son of Ralph L. and Lettie "Jean" (Smith) Bozell.
On April 21, 1990 he married Jean Ann Morrison. She survives.
He had worked for UPS as a driver for 32 years.
Rob graduated from Northwestern High School in 1974.
He was a member of Goldsmith United Methodist Church, Teamsters Local 710, a lifelong supporter of the Hoosier Heritage Trust and a former member of Mid-America Threshers.
Rob also attended Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo.
Along with his wife, Rob is survived by two sons and one daughter, Matthew R. Bozell of Sharpsville, Erin M. Burleson of Tampa, Fla. and Michael R. Burleson of Tipton; his father, Ralph Bozell of Kokomo; two brothers, Mike Bozell of Flora and Kenneth Bozell of Hanover.
He is also survived by his loving adopted dogs.
Preceding him in death was his mother.
A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. The Rev. Dave LeMasters will be presiding.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Cremation was chosen as the method of disposition.

Violette H. Stroup
ANDERSON – Violette H. “Vi” Stroup, 74, Anderson, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born Nov. 6, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the Rev. Albert V. and Aleene (Oakley) Hayes.
She previously worked in sales and restaurant management. She was also a substitute teacher for Liberty Christian School in Anderson.
She was a member of Gloria Gaither’s Monday Ladies Bible study and was currently attending the Madison Park Church of God in Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters, ViAnne Lehman and Sheree Sharp of Anderson; a son, Louis Richard Stroup Jr. of Anderson; six grandchildren; two sisters, Valeene Hayes of Anderson and Yvonne Anderson of Bangs, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Richard “Dick” Stroup who died in 1996; a son, Nathan Randall “Randy” Stroup; a granddaughter; and brothers, Sonny Hayes and C.R. Hayes.
A Service of Homegoing took place at 11 a.m. today at the Madison Park Church of God in Anderson. Pastor Jim Lyon officiated. A graveside service was held at the Marion National Cemetery at 2 p.m. today.

Norman Hendricks Aldridge
ELKHORN, Neb. – Norman Hendricks Aldridge was born April 8, 1938 in Kokomo to W. Page and Anna Mae (Hendrickson) Aldridge.
Norman grew up in Elwood where he attended College Corner and Washington Elementary schools and went on to graduate from Wendell Wilkie High School in Elwood in 1956. While in school in Elwood, Norman was active in band, playing clarinet and the marching band where he played tuba and trombone.
After high school, Norman went on to attend Ball State University and the Fort Wayne Business College.
Norman was drafted into the United States Army in 1961. He served his basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and was stationed in Colorado. He was honorably discharged in August of 1963 holding the rank of Private First Class.
Norman married Pam Nance on Dec. 4, 1965 at Church of God in Elwood. To this union, three sons were born: Derek Alan, Clinton Nance and Keith Arin. The family made their home in Indiana until moving to Wisconsin in 1981. They have made their home in Nebraska since 1983.
Norman worked for 31 years as a cost accountant for Continental Can, which became Crown Cork and Seal. He was a member of the Elks Club and often could be found playing golf or tennis, watching a Nebraska football game or enjoying some jazz music.
Norman will be remembered as an intense, hard-working and proud man who was happiest when he could play a good round of golf or enjoy a great steak. But most of all, Norman was a proud husband, father and grandfather. His family was everything to him and he will be greatly missed by all.
Norman passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at the Marquis Place in Elkhorn, Neb. at the age of 71, four months and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his father, W. Page Aldridge.
Norman is survived by his wife, Pam of Elkhorn; sons, Derek of Elkhorn, Clinton and wife Mindy of Knoxville, Tenn. and Keith of Elkhorn; a granddaughter, Dagny Aldridge; his mother, Anna Mae Aldridge of Elwood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Page Ann and Phil Fettig of Elwood and Carolyn and Lonnie Watson of Tipton; and a brother, Dave Aldridge of Elwood.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood. The Rev. Joshua Carney of First Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood where the Elwood VFW Post 5782 will conduct graveside military rites.
