Margaret J. Bertrand
ALEXANDRIA – Margaret Joan Bertrand, 80, of Jesup, Ga., died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at her residence.
She was born July 8, 1930 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Presley O. and Beatrice E. (Daugherty) Colliver.
She graduated from Butler University and was a retired elementary school teacher.
Survivors include a niece, Laurie Almack of Alexandria and two great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria, has been entrusted with the services.

Melvin C. Gosser
FRANKTON – Melvin C. Gosser, 83, Frankton, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Barren County, Ky., to Bennie and Ida (Fields) Gosser.
He retired in 1990 as a electrician for Delco Remy.
On Nov. 21, 1953, he married Janice Hughes. She survives.
He was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church of Anderson and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Frankton; two daughters, Susan Kay Brooks of Anderson and Cathy Gail Collins of Naperville, Ill.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Gosser of Louisville, Ky., Ralph Gosser of Corbin, Ky. and Isac Gosser of Mt. Hermon, Ky.; two sisters, Pearlie May Wilson of Elizabethtown, Ky. and Joyce Morgan of Glasco, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Garold Gosser; and a brother, Cecil Gosser.
Private graveside services were held today at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at the Edgewood Baptist Church, 3743 Nichol Ave., Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church in Anderson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.

Betty L. Clute
ANDERSON – Betty L. Clute, 78, Anderson, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Manor Care Health Services in Anderson.
She was born May 6, 1931 in Lyons, the daughter of Reed and Roxie (Allen) Jeffers.
She retired from the Dietary Department at Community Hospital, Anderson in 1985 after 17 years employment.
Survivors include sons, Dennis Scoville and Marshall Scoville; a sister, Joan Self of Bloomington and a brother, Robert Jeffers of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fred Clute, who died in 1965.
Private services will take place with interment in Dog Island Cemetery in Lyons.

Beverly Ramey
Beverly “Jean” Ramey, 72, Elwood, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 17, 1939 in Winchester, to Boyd and Sarah (Reese) Porter.
She married John D. Ramey Jr. Sept. 24, 1960. He died Oct. 7, 1997. She was a member of the Zion Chapel Church. Survivors include a sister, Mary L. Davenport of Elwood; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Bess officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Chapel Church.

Charles F. Grimes, Jr.
Charles F. Grimes, Jr., 69 of Tipton at 8:23 a.m. died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at IU Tipton Hospital. He was born July 6, 1941 in Tipton to Charles F. Grimes, Sr. and Rosamary (Bates) Grimes. On Oct. 2, 1998 he married Beverly Gephart. She survives. Charlie retired in 2000 from Chrysler after 32 years of service. He was a member of UAW 685, an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police – Tipton Lodge #109, the National Rifle Association and the Friday Night Car Club. Charlie was a 1960 graduate of Tipton High School. Survivors besides his wife include one daughter, one step-daughter and two step-sons; four brothers, William Grimes of Tipton, Harold Grimes of California, Dan Grimes of Georgia and Don Grimes of California; and two sisters, Mary Lou Grimes of Atlanta and Connie Tolle of Anderson. He is also survived by three grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Charlie's funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will follow in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police, Tipton Lodge #109, P.O. Box 392, Tipton, IN 46072.

Rufus L. Jessie
SUMMITVILLE – Rufus L. Jessie, 83, Summitville, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
He was born April 6, 1928 in Edmonton, Ky., the son of Hayden W. and Kattie (Wilson) Jesse.
He had worked for Kraft Foods, formerly of Summitville, for 15 years. He retired in 1989 from Delco Remy, formerly of Anderson, after 27 years employment. He owned and operated Rufus Jessie Trash Service in the Summitville area.
He attended Liberty Friends Church of Fairmount.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Byrnes) Jessie, whom he married Sept. 12, 1947; a son, Michael Jessie Sr.; two daughters, Marcia Houston and Marla Hanes and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Jessie; a nephew; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Owens Noffze Funeral Home in Summitville, with Pastor Rob Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Summitville Fire Territory Ambulance Fund through the funeral home.

Arlene L. Wilson
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Arlene L. Wilson, 77 of Kissimmee, Fla. passed away May 14, 2011. Born April 10, 1934 in Valentine, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ida (Schultz) Lurz. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vern Robinson in 1966 and her husband of 40 years, Onvie Gene Wilson; a son, Jim Robinson; and brother, Melvin Lurz. She is survived by daughters, Jane (Stan) Small of Florida and Ruby (Mike) DeVault of Florida; a stepson, Dallas Wilson of Indiana; brothers, Carl Lurz, Harold (Sandy) Lurz, Gene (Thelma) Lurz all of Nebraska; a sister, Ruby (Doyle) Luttrell of Indiana; grandchildren, Daniel Robinson, Justina (Bill) Bauknight, Nichole (Bo) Custer and Shawna (Jeff Roth) Morgan; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Madyson Bauknight and Makayla Custer, all of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Grissom Chapel with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m.. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Florida National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Grisson Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donald Cooper
Donald “Rex” Cooper, 72, a lifelong resident of Elwood, died Oct. 1, 2011 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood after an extended illness.
He was born March 8, 1939 in Anderson, the son of Colby H. and Martha “Jane” (Clark) Cooper.
He attended New Lancaster School.
He was self-employed as a lawn mower repairman for many years and retired in 2001.
He loved auctions and attending flea markets in his spare time. He was an avid dog lover and especially loved his dog “Trixie.”
Survivors include a sister, Marilou Cooper of Elwood; a brother, James (wife Pam) Cooper of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth and wife, Julia Cooper.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton with Chaplain Rob Mifflin of Community Home Health Services officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 1509 S. D St., Elwood, Ind. 46036.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.

LaKeita E. Legg
TIPTON – LaKeita Legg, 72, Tipton, entered into eternal life Sept. 29, 2011 at IU Health Tipton Hospital.
She was born in Tipton County Dec. 22, 1938 to Frank and Jessie (Collingwood) Ricketts.
She married Philip D. Legg Aug. 4, 1957. He survives.
LaKeita was a beautician for many years, first opening LaKeita’s Beauty Shop in the 1950s. She was also a homemaker and a loving wife and mom.
She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church, volunteering for many church and community activities as well as Meals on Wheels and the Democrat party. LaKeita cherished wintering in Sun City, Calif. and was a “grandmother” to many and a friend to all.
LaKeita is survived by her husband, Philip; two daughters, Lor-Anna Jo Legg, Indianapolis and Shawn Dauree LeSavvas and husband, Constantinos, Northridge, Calif.; one son, Darrin Legg and wife, Heather, Fallbrook, Calif.; five grandchildren, Alyssa Legg (Woster), Krista Legg (Woster), Emily and Ryan Larson and a grandson, due in February 2012; and one brother, Larry Ricketts and wife, Alex, Anderson. In recent years, Lynnea, Ben, Joe, Samuel, Noah and Isaac Humrichous lovingly adopted Phil and LaKeita as their grandpa and grandma.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the Kemp United Methodist Church, 228 N. Main St., Tipton, with the Rev. Phil Collier officiating. The family will receive visitors after the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Young Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton County Foundation in memory of LaKeita E. Legg, P.O. Box 412, Tipton, Ind. 46072.
LaKeita’s family would like to thank the staff of IU Health Tipton Hospital for all of the care and support they provided during her hospital stay.

James E. Greer
ALEXANDRIA – James E. “Rosie” Greer, 54, Alexandria, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 22, 1956 in Marion, the son of James H. and Dora (Jones) Greer.
He resided in the Summitville and Alexandria area all his life.
He was a 1974 graduate of Madison-Grant High School.
He had worked at Johns-Manville, formerly of Alexandria, Fisher-Body in Marion and most recently at Service & Materials in Elwood for 16 years.
He attended the Church of the Firstborn in Frankton.
James was an avid sports fan and enjoyed professional wrestling and NASCAR. He had an amazing ability to recall details and sports trivia. He was a very witty person with a great sense of humor. He loved his family and especially his daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Greer of Cambridge City; three sisters, Fay Brummet of Elwood, Ruth (Jim) Pyle and Zella Greer, all of Alexandria; a brother, Robert (Sally) Greer of Alexandria; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friend, Bill Waymire of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his daughter, Tammy (Koons) Greer, 2002; paternal grandparents, Charles and Ada (Ramsey) Greer; and brother-in-law, Charles Brummet.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria, with the Rev. Jerry Jones and Paul McCool officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes. Association through the funeral home.
