KOKOMO – Thomas Wayne Haworth, 76, Kokomo, passed away at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at 11:11 p.m. Arrangements are pending with Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel in Kokomo and a full obituary will follow.

Vicki L. Ross
Vicki L. Ross, 64, of Tipton died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at her residence. Funeral arrangements are pending at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and will be updated when available.

Marcia Kay Adams

Marcia Kay Adams, 65 of Tipton died Friday morning January 3, 2003 at 2:15am at the Millers Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born on October 4, 1937 in Tipton County. Her parents were Verle E. Adams & Gladys L. Foster.

Marcia was a secretary for the Oakes Manufacturing Company in Tipton and later for the Starkist Corporation in California. She belonged to the West Street Christian Church and had graduated from Tipton High School in 1955.

Survivors include her sister, Connie Jean Baker of Miamisburg, Ohio; brothers Robert Joe Adams of Sharpsville and Stephen Foster Adams of Kokomo.

Visitation will be Sunday January 5, from Noon until 2:00pm at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Services will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Normanda Cemetery.

Memorials: The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82, Tipton, IN 46072.

Phyllis J. Allen

Phyllis J. Allen, 78, 207 S. Independence Street, Tipton, died Sunday, September 21, 2003, at 9:47 P.M. at Howard Community Hospital. She was born in Tipton on October 14, 1924, to Blount & Gertrude (Wells) Wright. On August 7, 1940, she married Harold B. "Fuzzy" Allen and he died on June 24, 1984.

Phyllis was a housewife and a member of the West Street Christian Church, Eastern Star, and the American Legion.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ann & David Millett, Tipton, and Nancy & Tom Conlon, Union Mills, Indiana; three grandchildren, Bryan Conlon, Rachel Conlon, and Jennifer Millett-Gurtler; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Conlon, Cassandra Gurtler, and Brianna Gurtler; and a beloved friend, R. Eugene Holliday, Tipton. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, September 24, at 11:00 A.M. at the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, with the Rev. Phil Curran presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Floyd Johnson "Johnny" Baker

Floyd Johnson “Johnny” Baker, 84 of Tipton died Friday, November 29, 2002 7:30am at the Autumnwood Extended Care Facility in Tipton County Memorial Hospital. Johnny was born on May 27, 1918 in Sheridan Indiana to Floyd Anderson Baker and Esther (Johnson) Baker. He married Daurice Jeanne Purvis in 1941. Daurice died in 1976. They had two children, Michael Scott Baker of Big Stone Gap, VA and Lynn Ann Baker Jacobs who is deceased.

Johnny married Martha Racobs on April 16, 1976.

He retired as a Mobile Oil Distributor in 1980. Prior to that he was a Rural Route Milk Hauler.

He was a member of the West Street Christian Church in Tipton; member & past president of the Carriage Travel Club; member of the Austin Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. #128 in Tipton. Johnny was a member of the York Rite and the Murat Shrine. He graduated from Noblesville High School.

SERVICES: Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, from 2-5pm at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. A Masonic Service will be held at 4:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Monday, December 2, at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating.

Cremation is the chosen form of disposition.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

Edith M. Bates

Edith M. Bates, 94, Tipton died at 9:45 P.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor. She was born September 5, 1908, in Tipton County to Clyde & Constance (Bentley) Bates. She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church on Tipton.

She is survived by a brother, Harold Losey of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.

Edith's funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Oren Rector. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Verl "Bus" Beach

Verl Beach, 95, of Tipton died at 6:32 A.M. Tuesday, February 4, 2003, at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 16, 1907, in Windfall to Oscar & Clara Belle (Harpold) Beach. On June28, 1946, he married Betty Kemper and she survives.

He was a farmer in Tipton and Hamilton Counties, retiring in 1976. During the war years he worked at Firestone. He attended Hazel Dell Church and Hopewell Methodist Church.

Survivors besides his wife include 2 sons and daughters-in-law - Jerry & Carol Beach and Jeff & Tracy Beach - all of Tipton. One son, Jack Beach is deceased. He has 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson. One grandson is deceased.

Funeral will be Friday, February 7, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Farmer. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Calling will be 3:00 - 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Research or the American Heart Association.

Charlotte Iona Beeson

Charlotte Iona Beeson, 67, 1136 Leininger Drive, Tipton, died early Thursday, January 23, at her residence. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 10, 1936, to George W. & Constance (Nelson) Buchholz. On April 5, 1955, she married James E. Beeson and he survives.

She was a cashier at Marsh Supermarket in Tipton for 1 year after working for Carter's Supermarket in Tipton for 28 years. She was a member of West Street Christian Church and the Independent Order of Foresters.

Survivors besides her husband include 2 daughters and sons-in-law - Debra Ann & Joseph Ferguson - Tipton; Vicky Lynn & David Dunbar - Fishers; 1 sister - Georgia Waltz - Lakewood, Colorado; 1 brother - Robert Buchholz - Lakewood, Colorado;
2 grandsons - Benjamin John Ferguson - Evansville; Christopher M. Ferguson - Tipton; 2 granddaughters - Emily N. Ferguson - Tipton; Bailey D. Dunbar - Fishers.

Charlotte's funeral will be Monday, January 27, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Curran. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Lester R. Bringle

Lester R. Bringle, 86, Indianapolis, and a former Tipton resident, died at 9:02am Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.

Lester was a former resident of Tipton and had also lived in Lakeland, Florida for a few years. He most recently lived on Ivywood Drive in Indianapolis.

He was born June 5, 1916 in Tipton to Frank Bringle and Rachel (McGill) Bringle Rockwell. Lester married Ruth Preston in 1937, she preceded him in death in 1987. He married Mary (Thomas) Florey on June 25, 1988, and she survives.

Lester was the plant manager for Hy-Line Chicks in Tipton and later worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred.

Lester belonged to the West Street Christian Church in Tipton where he was a former Deacon. Other memberships include the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners and the Elks Lodge where he was a Past Exalted Ruler. He served on the Tipton County Library Board, the Tipton Park Board, and the Cicero Township Advisory Board. Lester also served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman.

A 1934 graduate of Tipton High School, Lester attended Indiana University. He was an avid golfer for many years and was a member of the Tipton Golf Association. He held a record for the city championship in five different decades.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Carol Allbaugh of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Becky Hobbs of Tipton; one son, John Bringle of Noblesville. He has 2 step sons: Bob Florey of Florida and Tom Florey of Noblesville. Grandchildren are: Jeff Ralston and Jill Beekman of Holland, Michigan; Lynn Trott of Noblesville; Ryan Hobbs of Elkhart, Indiana; Bethany Miller of Huntington, Indiana; and Erin Bringle of Noblesville. Lester has 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at 10:00am at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Rev. Phil Curran will preside. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25, from 4-8pm.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Cole Wesley Brown

Cole Wesley Brown, son of Joseph A. & Christy L. (Lively) Brown, 19246 Prairie Crossing Drive, Noblesville, was stillborn at Indiana University Medical Center on Tuesday, August 12, 2003.

Survivors besides his parents include his grandparents, Richard L. & Evelyn M. Brown, Cicero, and Ronald E. & Janice L. Lively, Atlanta; great-grandparents, Donald & Betty Lively, Atlanta; aunts & uncles, Carrie & Cameron Mason, Tipton, James & Angela Cripe, Zionsville, Sheri & Tim Gruwell, Daleville.

A private service was conducted at Fairview Cemetery on Thursday, August 14 by the Rev. Frank Hibbard.

Max E. Bunch

Max Bunch, 62, 3890 E. Division Road, Tipton, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in North Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born July 2, 1940 in Elwood to Clyde & Betty (Russell) Bunch. On January 17, 1964, he married Linda Zimmerman who survives.

Max retired from Pioneer Hi-Bred in 2001 as the Sales Service Manager after 36 years of service. He was a member of Windfall United Methodist Church, Windfall Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star #66 Tipton, Moose Lodge, Tipton County Sheriff's Merit Board, Tipton County Foundation, and a 1958 graduate of Windfall High School.

Surviving besides his wife Linda are his mother, Betty Bunch, Windfall; one son and daughter-in-law - Michael & Amy Bunch, Tipton; one daughter and son-in-law - Melisa & Scott Hartsock, Windfall; two granddaughters - Dakota Ellen Bunch and Meghan Paige Bunch; one sister-in-law - Nora Zimmerman, Connersville; and a special friend - "Lady Girl".

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 13, 2003, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Coffin presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Alice S.J. Burkhardt

Alice S.J. Burkhardt, 93, died early Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Miller's Merry Manor, Chesterfield. She grew up in Hobbs and had lived in Atlanta and Tipton. She was born October 29, 1909, in Wells County, Indiana, to Clem & Alma (Smith) Hott. On August 18, 1935, she married Walter C. Burkhardt and he died July 14, 1997.

Alice was a housewife and a member of the Atlanta Christian Church. She was also a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Tipton County Home Ec Club.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Richard Hott, Adelphia, Maryland, Don Hott, Markle, Indiana, Janet Krick, Alachua, Florida, Rick Hott, Indianapolis, Daniel Hott, Frankton, Kathleen Hueston, Anderson, Joyce Hott, Alachua, Florida, Judy Baumann, Alechua, Florida, Michele Norris, Middletown, Indiana, Steven Hott, Winter Springs, Florida, and Wayne Hott, Wichita, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Harold, Clem Jr., Kenneth, Meredith and Harlan Hott, and 3 sisters, Edna Cuba, Martha Anderson, and Frances Sprague.

Her funeral will be Friday, August 22, at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Barnett presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 P.M. Friday.

Charlie B. Butcher

Charlie B. Butcher, 84, 310 Kentucky Ave., Tipton died Monday, August 25, 2003, at his residence. He had also lived in Forest, Indiana for 12 years. He was born June 19, 1919, in Claiborne County, Tennessee to Robert L. & Mary Elizabeth (Surber) Butcher. On April 12, 1943, he married Ocie Fletcher and she survives.

Charlie retired in 1985 from Plant Operations at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, Tipton.

Survivors besides his wife include one daughter and son-in-law, Susie & Phillip Fecher, Tipton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Helen Butcher, Tipton; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ikey & Rosie Butcher, Tipton, and Eulene Butcher, Forest; six grandchildren, Judy & Brian Caviggiola, Marion, Anita DeLong, Tipton, Brad & Tandy Butcher, Kokomo, Lorrann & Steve Dwigins, Lapel, Holly & Kent Gremel, Noblesville, and Della Denham, Indianapolis; 12 great-grandchildren.

Six brothers, Willard, Bill, Jack, Niel, Clyde and Claude are all deceased.

His funeral will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 28, at the Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton with the Rev. Doug Slack and Rev. Harvey Herring presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Wesleyan Church Building Fund.

Phyllis Jean Butner

Phyllis J. Butner, 77, 6044 W. 500 S., Tipton, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. She was born January 19, 1926, in Madison County, Indiana, to Joseph & Ruby (Odom) Alexander. On August 11, 1946, she married George E. Butner and he died on September 24, 1996.

She retired from Farmers Mutual Insurance in 1990. She was a member of East Union Christian Church and was a 1944 graduate of Frankton High School.

Phyllis is survived by three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Lyle Butner, Kokomo, William & Ginger Butner, Logansport, and Roger & Sheryl Butner, Tipton; a friend, Arthur Drake, Anderson; three grandchildren, William E. Butner, April Ross and Karen Butner; 7 great-grandchildren, Ginger D. Butner, Madalynn Butner, William J. Butner, Alexis Butner, Katelyn Ross, Sydney Ross, and Nicholas Ross.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, July 16 at 11:00 A.M. at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Morris and Larry Phillips presiding. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
