James Fain
James Dale Fain, 47, formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Nashville, Tenn. The death was ruled a homicide.
Surviving are a daughter, Toni Fain of Evansville; two sons, Jon and Jerry Vincent Fain, both of Evansville; a sister, Toni LaFeuer of Evansville; four brothers, Nick Willoughby, Chris and Paul David Spencer, all of Evansville, and Ricky Willoughby of Charleston, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, with burial. in Sunset Memorial cemetery.
Judy Taylor
WASHINGTON — Judy E. Taylor, 53, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at her home of cancer.
Surviving are three sons, Greg Rhodes of Winslow and Tony and Doug Rhodes; three sisters, Peggy Price of Cato, Barb Schmitt of Jasper and Kate Reckelhoff of Celestine; three brothers, Tim Garland of Decker, Robbie Garland of Seymour and Mark Garland of Petersburg; a half brother, John Fowler of Winslow; and a grandchild, Devon Anderson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with burial in Beadles cemetery in Velpen.

Leon McCullough
WINSLOW — Leon G. McCullough, 77, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Jasper Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
Surviving is a sister, Stella Willis of Winslow.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST today at Harris Funeral Home, burial in Walnut Hills cemetery, all in Petersburg.

Milliard Huffman
ROCKPORT — Milliard “Tuck” Huffman, 89, formerly of Huffman Mills and Kokomo, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis.
He retired as an Indiana state policeman and probation officer.
He had been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
He was a member and deacon of the Richland Christian Church in Richland City and the Southside Christian Church in Kokomo and a Mason.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lorene (Patmore); three sons, John of Bloomington, Henry of Ellettsville and George of Carmel; and four grandchildren, Anna Bedwell and John M., John N. and Curt Huffman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with burial in Huffman cemetery in Huffman Mills.
Friends may call form 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

LaVern Schmaker
HOLLAND — LaVern W. Schmaker, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She retired from Holland Industries.
She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and past president of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America at the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lila Schmaker of Vincennes; a brother, Kenneth Fark of Holland; and two sisters, Dorothy Ring and Lorene Fark, both of Holland. Her husband, Alvin, died in 1965.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, burial pending.

Ruth Spanger
VINCENNES — Ruth I. Spanger, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Spanger of Vincennes; a brother, Harold Wagner of Freelandville; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, and a daughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gordon E. Utt Funeral Home in Freelandville, with burial in Salem cemetery in Westphalia.

Larry Yeida
MOUNT VERNON — Larry A. Yeida, 50, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of a heart attack. He was a
farmer and member of the Moose, Eagles and Sons of the American Legion.
Surviving are a daughter, Christian Lamble of Peru, Ind.; his mother, Eva Wild of Mount Vernon; a brother, Edward Lee Jr. of Mount Vernon; and four grandchildren, Larry G., Katlynn, Michael and Alex Lamble.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tygart Funeral Home, with burial in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Louis Bahn
Louis A. Bahn, 86, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
He was a salesman for Bunny Bakery and had worked as a salesman for Certified Electric.
He was a member of the First Avenue Presbyterian Church, Evansville Athletic Club and life member of the United Commercial Travelers.
Surviving are a daughter, Darlene R. Turpin of Evansville; a son, Gary A. of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Jeff S., Stephanie R. and Christopher L. Turpin; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie, in 1993 and a son, Bruce A., in 1980.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, the Rev. Richard Schechter officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

John Lax
John L. Lax, 59, of Evansville, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in St. Mary’s, Warrick.
He retired in 1998 as a truck driver for Teamster Local 215 and worked at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh.
He was an Army veteran, served in Ankara, Turkey, and worked in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon for the National Security Agency.
He was a graduate of Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tenn., where he played basketball.
He was a member of the Boonville (Ind.) Country Club and a golfer.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Thekla (Weigel); a stepdaughter, Sherri Hudson of Newburgh; a son, Rodney of Evansville; a stepson, Jack Fisher of Fort Wayne, Ind.; his mother, Dathel Lax of Buchanan, Tenn.; a sister, Betty Strutton of Apison, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Sydney and Lauren Lax; three stepgrandchildren, Casey Wettmarshausen and Jackie and Julie Fisher; and nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, William J. Caple officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery, with military rites.

Darrell Devine
Darrell Chester Devine, 58, of Evansville, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at his home. The Vanderburgh County coroner is determining the cause of death.
He was a truck driver.
He was a member of Haven Pentecostal Church in Henderson, Ky., and attended First Pentecostal Church in Evansville.
Surviving are a daughter, Angela Merrick of Evansville; a son, David Scott of Evansville; his mother, Thelma Devine of Evansville; three sisters, Carol Brown and Sharon Tabor, both of Newburgh and Ann Raleigh of Wadesville; four brothers, David C., Earl W., Jerry D. and Paul A., all of Evansville; three grandchildren, Jamie and Adam Merrick and Erik Devine; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Mausoleum Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Virginia Berger
Virginia K. Berger, 85, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Scottsdale Heritage Court.
She had been a teacher.
She was a member of the Christ Church of the Ascension.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Sanders of Bedford, Texas; a son, Kenneth K. Berger of Durango, Colo.; two grandsons, Joe and Jack Johnson; and a great-grandson.
Services will be private. Messinger Indian School Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
