Berniece G. Fisher

Berniece G. Fisher, 93, 6014 Council Ring Boulevard, Kokomo, died late in the afternoon Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at her residence. She was born June 18, 1910, in Tipton County to Rueben & Mary Ann "Mollie" (Conley) Bogan. On June 25, 1966, she married Kenneth W. Fisher and he died February 8, 1997.

She worked as a cook for Kresge stores in Kokomo and Muncie as well as being the owner & operator of the Cats Whiskers in Muncie. Berniece lived in Muncie from 1950 - 1977.

Berniece was a member of the North View Christian Church in Kokomo, C.W.F. Women's Fellowship and a past president of that organization, member and pianist of Women of the Moose #237, Kresge Retire Club, and a 1928 graduate of Tipton High School.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Perkins & William Loren Reed, Kokomo; her dog Barnabus, a long-time companion; a niece, Pauline M. Lee, Tipton; 5 grandchildren, Kassandra Powell & husband Dennis in San Marcos, California, Kermit Wilfon, Avon, Indiana, Karlan Wilfon & wife Janette, Reno, Nevada, Gail Forrester & husband John, Lenoire City, Tennessee, Curtis Reed and wife Kelly, Kokomo; 5 great-grandchildren.

One brother and one sister are deceased.

Her funeral will be Friday, October 10, at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyle Dahlquist presiding. Burial will be in East Union Cemetery in Hamilton County. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Dalton Riley Foerg

Dalton Riley Foerg was stillborn at Howard Community Hospital Friday, March 7, at 6:30 A.M. He was the son of Darrell R. & Nicole A. (Ripberger) Foerg, 665 E. 100 N., Tipton.

He is also survived by his Maternal Grandparents - Phil & Nancy Ripberger, Tipton; Paternal Grandparents - Henry & Faye Hoelscher, Tipton and Donald & Cindy Foerg, Rochester, Indiana; Maternal Great-grandmother - Nora Lee Ripberger, Tipton; Paternal Great-grandmothers - Jean Kersey, Monticello, Indiana and Mary Hoelscher, Osgood, Ohio; one Brother - Payton Hitchings; and several Aunts and Uncles.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at St. John’s Cemetery, Tipton, with the Rev. Leroy Kinnaman with burial to follow.

Edward F. Gall

Edward F. Gall, 78, Elwood, and a former Tipton resident, died at 10:55 A.M. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood. He was born January 8, 1925 in Tipton to William J. & Hilda T. (Peters) Gall.

On April 22, 1961, he married Theresa M. Rastetter. She died on March 8, 1995. He married Mary Coiner on November 26, 1995 and she died in October, 2001.

He was a tool machinist at Perfect Circle in Tipton and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

Survivors include two sons, David E. Gall, Clarkston, Michigan and William E. Gall, Cincinnati, Ohio; 3 brothers, Joseph Gall, Alexandria, John Gall, Anderson and Thomas Gall, Tipton; 3 sisters, Sister Laura Gall, C.S.J., Tipton, Gertrude Glotzbach, Alexandria and Mary Sutton, Elwood. One sister, Helen Plumer, is deceased.

His funeral will be Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Leroy Kinnaman. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a wake service at 4:30 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N. Meridian St., Suite B-4, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46209.

Frances D. Wright

Frances D. Wright, 54, Noblesville, died Wednesday June 14, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital, Carmel. She was born in Tipton on November 28, 1951 to Carl and Mary (Maher) Lewis. On August 23, 2000, she married Michael Wright, and he survives.

Frances retired from Delphi in Kokomo.

She is survived by 2 sons, Eric Davis of Fishers and Ryan Davis of Indianapolis; her mother, Mary Lewis of Greentown; a brother, Ralph Lewis and wife Debbie of Greentown and a sister, Wilma Jean Coffelt of Kokomo.

Graveside funeral services are planned for Monday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be on Monday June 19, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton.

Elizabeth Ann Whisler

Elizabeth Ann Whisler, 71, 2191 S. 500 W., Tipton, died at home Monday, March 31, 2003 at 9:50 P.M.

Born October 29, 1931 in Tipton County, she was the daughter of Clyde and Mary (McLaughlin) Overdorf. She married Don Whisler November 22, 1952 and he survives.

She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also involved with the Women's' Association and Circle.

She was a 1949 graduate of Tipton High School and a member of the Helping Hands Home Ec. Club.

She was employed at Jefferson Elementary School where she was a cook for 12 years.

She was a dedicated and loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her love was for God, her family, friends and church.

Surviving with her husband include two daughters, Nancy Ripberger, Mary Jane Taylor and husband Brian, all of Tipton. Five grandchildren, Sarah and Kristen Ripberger, Carey Phifer, Abby and Daniel Taylor, also five great-grandchildren, all of Tipton.

Other survivors include three brothers, Walt Overdorf of Cicero, Jerry and Bruce Overdorf of Tipton and one sister, Becky Carson of Wisconsin.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Ann Whisler and one brother, Allen Overdorf.

Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 3, 2003, with the Rev. Carl Christensen officiating.

Friends may call at Young-Nichols Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2, 2003, from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. and at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Tipton County Relay for Life.

Robert L. Wagner

Robert L. Wagner, 72, Tipton, and a resident of Indianapolis until 1998, died at 6:00 A.M. Friday, July 11, 2003 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born July 13, 1930, in Bloomington, Indiana to Gilbert L. & Ethel Wagner.

Bob retired from Indiana Rental in 1992 after working in the tool rental business for 40 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Broadripple, and the American Legion, Carmel. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Gillihan, Kempton, two sons, Keith Wagner, Florida and Mark Wagner, Indianapolis; one sister, Nancy Wagner Simpson, Geist, and two brothers, Gilbert Wagner, Greenfield and Frederick Wagner, Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren.

Instead of visitation, the family would like to invite friends to a gathering in Robert's honor at the American Legion Post #155, 852 W. Main Street, Carmel, on Thursday, July 17, at 3:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held with the Rev. Richard Covert presiding. The Moose will also conduct their memorial service at that time.

Elizabeth A. Peters

Elizabeth A. Peters, 94, Tipton, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Tipton Hospital. She was born October 15, 1912 in Arcadia to Garfield A. & Lue E. (Johnson) Belzer. On July 28, 1928, she married Everett Chester Peters and he died March 1, 1984.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred in the 1960's-70's. She attended West St. Christian Church and was a member of Arcadia Church of the Brethren, D.A.R. and the Double Dozen Home Ec. Club. Elizabeth was also a member of the Tipton County Art Association, Library Quilters Roundtable, Republican Women's Club and the Tipton County Historical Society.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Ann Regnier and one son, Stephen W. Peters, both of Tipton; five grandchildren, Risa Regnier, Mark Regnier, David Regnier and Amber Sharp of Tipton, and Grant Peters of Vicenza, Italy; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.

Elizabeth's funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 Friday at the funeral home.

Leona M. Tansy

Leona M. Tansy, 96, Tipton died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton. She was born September 4, 1911 in Tipton to Guy Thornton & Ella Blanche (Austill) Thornton Zimmerman. She first married Charles Sullivan of Elwood and then on June 29, 1940 she married Orval Tansy and he died in September 2000.

She was retired after service at Firestone and at the Tipton Clinic. She was a member of the West Street Christian Church.

Leona is survived by one son, Steve Tansy and wife Judy, Tipton; one daughter, Caroline Kincaid and husband Ray, Noblesville; four grandchildren, Bob Richardson, Lori Peachey, Scott Tansy, and Diana Heard; four step-grandchildren, Suz Helmick, Cindy Kincaid, Barb Kincaid and Keith Kincaid; eight great-grandchildren, Bryan Richardson, Drew Richardson, Aaron Richardson, Christian Travis, Steven Lee Peachey, Jacob Heard, Evan Tansy and Grant Tansy; and three step great-grandchildren, Dana Kincaid, Taryn Kincaid and Whitney Kincaid. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeff Richardson.

Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 1 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rogers Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Benjamin Adam Tunmer

Benjamin Adam Tunmer, 29, Tipton, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 28, 1977, in Tipton to Alan H. & Toni Kay (Lewis) Tunmer.

He was a 1997 graduate of Tipton High School and he received a certificate from Kokomo High School, South Campus. Ben was a former employee of Marsh Supermarket in Tipton. Ben really enjoyed sports. In high school he was the basketball team manager and had also played in the Special Olympics basketball state finals at Terre Haute. He was an avid WWE wrestling fan.

Survivors include his parents of Tipton; one brother, Ryan Tunmer, Tipton; his grandmother, Mary Lewis, Tipton; one niece and one nephew.

His funeral will at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Knapp presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Francis M. Wallpe

Francis M. Wallpe, 87, 407 Southwood Drive, Tipton, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born August 5, 1919 in Tipton County to Edward John & Louise Anna (Ripberger) Wallpe. In 1948 he married Doris Ann Kleyla and she died in 1986. He then married Connie Fox in 1988 and she survives. He had formerly lived in Kokomo and Sharpsville.

He was a pipefitter at Delco Electronics, retiring in 1991, and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

Survivors besides his wife Connie include one daughter, Micky Etnier and her husband Sam, Kokomo; three step-children, Steven Deering and wife Judy, California, Jason Deering and wife Dawn, Atlanta, Indiana, and Felecia Brennan and husband Pete, Kentucky; one brother, Bob Wallpe and wife Rosemary, Brentwood, California; two sisters, Bee Oyler and husband Charlie, Hayward, California and Betty Lawhead, Kokomo; sisters-in-law Jane Wallpe, Sharon Wallpe and Pat Wallpe, all of Kokomo; one granddaughter, Angie Pier and husband Richard; three great-grandchildren, Kasey, Kayla and Kortney Pier.

Francis was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Marshke and Lorena Sutton, and four brothers, Harold, Clarence, Anthony and Edward Wallpe.

His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding and entombment to follow in Sunset Memory Garden in Kokomo. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
