Susan Heseman

Susan A. (Killinger) Heseman, 77, of Evansville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center from complications of surgery.

She was a 1941 graduate of Central High School and a 1945 graduate of Purdue University.

She was a life member of St. John's East United Church of Christ, a member of the Kennel Club and Evansville Country Club, Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Purdue Alumni Association.

Surviving are two daughters, Terri Graham of Newburgh and Beth Osborn of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Julie, Karen and John Graham and Susanne and Katie Osborn.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Daniel Kincaid officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society.

Irene Winner

Irene Winner, 71, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at her home of complications of cancer.

She was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Norrick of Evansville, Annette Smith of Newburgh and Jamie Hicks of Henderson, Ky.; four sons, Raymond Smith of Boonville, Ind., Stan Smith of Chicago, Gary Winner of Lexington, Ky., and Joe Winner of Evansville; two sisters, Cora Jones of Berry, Ala., and Geneva Johnson of Evansville; 17 grandchildren; and Henry 'Bud' Schapker, who cared for her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Winner, in 1981, and a daughter, Linda Smith, in 1978.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert A. Nall officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Wendall Kennard

Wendall W. Kennard, 88, of Birmingham, Ala., brother of Gene Kennard of Evansville, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in Birmingham.

He retired after more than 40 years with the Kraft Foods Co.

He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a member of the Optimists and the Sales Executive Club in Birmingham.

Also surviving are two daughters, Beth Moore Fletcher and Karen Ingram, both of Birmingham; a son Gary L. of Birmingham; two grandchildren, John Christopher Moore IV and Mary Beth Whistler; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Ridout's Southern Heritage in Birmingham.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.

Dewayne Taylor

Dewayne Allen Taylor, 29, of Lorton, Va., formerly of Evansville and Owensboro, Ky., died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Mount Vernon Memorial Hospital in Alexandria, Va., of heart failure.

He worked for Quarles Petroleum as a truck driver, was an Army veteran and was a member of the National Guard, the Army Reserves and Evansville's New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Charity Brown-Taylor; a daughter, Laruencia Schmitt of Auburn, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Shanice Sims of Lorton; a son, Aaron Michael of Lorton; his mother, Esther Howell Taylor of Evansville; his father, David Taylor of Owensboro; two sisters, April Chinn and Wendy Chinn, both of Evansville; a foster sister, Davina Clardy of Evansville; two brothers, Donald R. Brown of Woodbridge, Va., and David 'Chris' Taylor of Liverpool, Ky.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville, the Rev. W. R. Brown Jr. officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel.

Wanda Adye

Wanda Gay (Ferguson) Adye, 72, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at her home of complications of heart disease.

She practiced nursing for several years, was a graduate of Deaconess School of Nursing and enjoyed horses, flower gardening and birdwatching.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Dr. Wallace M. Jr.; two daughters, Tamara G. Adams and Terri L. Chancellor, both of Evansville; a son, Dr. Bruce A. of Spokane, Wash.; and five grandchildren, Ashley Richardson, Christin and Casey McMillan, Hunter Chancellor and Graham Adye.

A son, Wallace M. III, died in 1965.

Arrangements are pending with Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Deaconess Hospital Foundation, the heart or oncology programs.

Grace Baggett

Grace A. Baggett, 77, of Evansville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of cancer.

She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, a former member of Bethany Christian Church and Christian Fellowship Church and a member for more than 49 years of a Bunco club.

She collected angels.

Surviving are her husband, Carl W. Sr.; a daughter, Jeanine Mummert of Evansville; four sons, Carle W. Jr., Gary, Jeff and Tracy, all of Evansville; three sisters, Mae Wall, Barbara Shekell and Betty Fluty, all of Evansville; three brothers, George, Ernest and Marion McReynolds, all of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Greg, Stephanie, Andrea, Austin T., Grace and Clara Baggett, Christine Koczo, Jennifer Kempf, and Chad Mummert; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Spencer Downs officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Christian Fellowship Building Fund.

Robert McDaniel

Robert E. 'Mac' McDaniel, 81, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Evansville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Friendship Village of Columbus.

He was an aerospace consultant, retiring from Teledyne Continental Motors.

He was a 1938 graduate of Reitz High School in Evansville.

He served as a lieutenant colonel during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a decorated command pilot, serving with the 386th Bomb Group as an A-26 pilot.

While attached to RAF Squadron 617, he was presented the Laurence Minot Trophy by the queen of England.

He was a member of the Dedalion Society.

He was a golfer and member of the Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio.

Surviving are two daughters, Carole Bently and Peggy McDaniel; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home Worthington (Ohio) Chapel, with burial pending at Arlington National cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Columbus.

VerWayne Schroer

VerWayne 'Wayne' Schroer, 80, of Evansville died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Columbia Healthcare Center.

He retired in 1985 from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the postal workers union and Calvary Temple, and had served as a deacon and usher at First Assembly of God church.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mildred "Micky" (Wallace); three sons, Greg of Evansville, Mark of Newburgh and Rick of Boston; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, the Rev. Kenneth Raymes officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park, with military rites.

Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

William Jackson Sr.

PETERSBURG - William Thomas Jackson Sr., 85, of Sellersburg, formerly of Petersburg, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

He retired from American Bakeries in Louisville, Ky., as a route salesman and was a member of the Sellersburg Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Melba (Klipsch); a daughter, Kathy Freeman of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four sons, William T. Jr. of Phoenix, Alan of Owensboro, Ky., and Rick and David, both of Sellersburg; a sister, Dorothy Bell Nordhorn of Vincennes; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, with burial in Walnut Hill cemetery in Petersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
