Faye Werneke
Faye Werneke, 84, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Evansville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Providence Living Center for Alzheimer’s Patients in McKinney.
She taught school in Evansville for 39 years and received her master’s degree from the University of Evansville.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Business & Professional Women’s Club, History Club and the Vanderburgh County Republican Women.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Harrison of McKinney; a granddaughter, Kimberly Short of Frisco, Texas; and a great-grandchild.
Her husband, Karl Jr., died in 1974.
Private service and burial in Maple Grove cemetery in Boonville, Ind., are pending. Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrolton, Texas, is handling arrangements.
Rev. Matthew Jaskula
JASPER — The Rev. Matthew S. Jaskula, 85, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
He retired in 1994 after 26 years as the pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa, Texas, and in gratitude for his work the town council dedicated a street in his name, Fr. Matthew Avenue.
He was a World War II Army Medical Corps veteran. He was member of The Sons of Divine Providence. He was ordained in 1952 in Tortona, Italy, and for 26 years was a helper, confessor, office accountant, assistant administrator at the Don Orione Home in East Boston, Mass.
Surviving are a niece and nephew.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Providence Home, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the Providence Home. Becher & Kluesner Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Charles LaMar
OWENSVILLE — Charles A. LaMar, 74, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Gibson General Hospital of cancer. He retired from the maintenance department at Gibson General Hospital, was a World War II Army veteran and 1944 graduate of Owensville High School.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Mount Carmel, Ill.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Alice (Williams); a daughter, Kathy McGillem of Princeton; a son, Richard “Dick” of Owensville; a sister, Carolyn Walters of Owensville; and four grandchildren, Heather and Matt McGillem and Jennifer and Eric LaMar. A daughter, Lucinda, died in 1961.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Holder Funeral Home, with burial in Owensville cemetery.

William Toy
DALE — William “Bill” Toy, 66, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, . at St. Mary’s Medical Center of cancer.
He worked at the Heritage Hills High School in Spencer County.
He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany.
Surviving are his wife, Donna J. (Pike); a daughter, Dianna Utley of Evansville; three sons, Charles E. of Boonville, Mike D. of Dale and Robert J. of Washington; two brothers, the Rev. Edwin of Boonville and the Rev. Daniel of Evansville; four sisters, Mary Agnes Toy of Newburgh, Betty Sue Petty of Taylor Mich., Margaret McIntyre of Chrisney and Romona Huffman of Madisonville, Ky.; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dale cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time. Fuller Funeral Home Dale Chapel is handling arrangements.
Richard Terry
TELL CITY — Richard P. “Jack” Terry, 55, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at his home of cancer. He was a guard at the Branchville Correctional Facility.
He was a Vietnam War Army veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Linda (Cronin); two daughters, Lisa Coultas of Tell City and Peggy Schnell of Schnellville; two sons, David of Grandview and Russell of Tell City; his mother, Flora Kellems Terry of Tell City; four sisters, Margary Loper, Sharon Williams and Anona Lawson, all of Tell City, and Ollie Hobbs of Huntingburg; four brothers, Andrew and Eddie, both of Tell City, Kenneth of Birdseye and John of Chrisney; and 12 grandchildren, Wesley, Travis, Courtney, Bailey and Sarah Terry, Zeb, Jeremiah and Kala Coultas and Nicole, Tyler, Trent and Shayna Schnell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral HOme Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale cemetery in Gatchel, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Daniel Folsom Sr.
Daniel E. Folsom Sr., 60, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at his home of cancer.
He had been a forklift operator for 37 years with Gateway Warehouse.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Delores (Rye); a daughter, Peggie Sue Morris of Evansville; three sons, Daniel E. Jr. and Stephen Folsom and Jerry Morris, all of Evansville; two sisters, Hanna Shear of Chandler, Ind., and Ruth Shear of Boonville, Ind.; three brothers, Jim of Evansville, Bobby of Lynnville, Ind., and Johnny of Chandler; and six grandchildren, Danielle, Bubby, Charleen, Felicia, Daniel III and Tiffany.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Marcella Phillips officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Anna Mack
Anna Louise (Hunter) Mack, 91, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Cyprus Grove Nursing Home.
She had worked in the linen department at St. Mary's Hospital, was a member of Garvinwood Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Caretha, Daniel, Cindy and David Claspell; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Arthur, died in 1983.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Oak Hill cemetery, the Rev. John Hilbert officiating. There will be no visitation at Pierre Funeral Home.
Evelyn Hauther
Evelyn Skeels Hauther, 86, formerly Evansville, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, in Lake Forest, Calif.
She had been a nurse's aide at Deaconess Hospital.
She was the oldest living student from the original Vogel School.
She was a member and had taught Sunday school at the Oak Hill Evangelical Free Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Blakeslee of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a sister, Tish Titzer of Evansville; a granddaughter, Cindy Holmes; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and her companion of 17 years, Paul V. Partington.
Her husband, Cary Miller, died in 1976.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Clifford B. Herring officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Virginia Spangler
Virginia (Farley) Spangler, 83, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Evansville, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Nashville's Baptist Hospital.
She had worked for Rock Island Oil Refining Co. and was a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ, both in Evansville.
She attended Murray State University.
Surviving are a sister, Ruth Blackwood of Nashville; and a niece.
Her husband, Melvin, died in 1986.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Locust Hill cemetery in Evansville.
Hugh Williams
Hugh Eugene Williams, 82, of Evansville, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home.
He had worked for the Evansville Association for the Blind for 31 years. He was a C.B. radio operator, known as 'Big Daddy.'
Surviving are his wife, Debra (Brummett); a son, Harold of Evansville; a sister, Helen Stirsman of Cincinnati; three brothers, Bobby and Ed, both of Central City, Ky., and Steve of Knoxville, Ark.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with burial in Cherry Hill cemetery there.
