Goldie Martin
LOOGOOTEE - Goldie S. (White) Martin, 92, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Martin County Health Care Center.
She retired from NSWC Crane and had previously worked at U.S. Rubber and Reliance Manufacturing.
She was a member of Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Davis; a son, Jimmy Martin; a sister, Dorothy Nigg, all of Loogootee; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Martin, in 1996.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Loogootee United Methodist Church, with burial in Goodwill cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Titzer Funeral Home, and from noon to service time Monday at the church.

Delbert Hayden
VINCENNES - Delbert M. Hayden, 81, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He owned and operated the Verne Store and had worked for the B&O; Railroad.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a member of Scottish Rite, Shrine, Monroe City Masonic Lodge, where he was a 50 year member and a past Worshipful Master, and the Indiana Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Lee Hayden; a daughter, Brenda Joyce Hayden of Vincennes; three sons, David Michael and Robert Kent Hayden, both of Vincennes, and Delbert Roscoe Hayden of Elgin, S.C.; a sister, Catherine Durham of Vincennes; a brother, Kenneth Hayden of Paducah, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Family Funeral Home, the Rev. J.T. Silence officiating, with burial in Wildwood cemetery in Knox County, with military rites.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or a Shriners hospital.
George Williams
OWENSVILLE - George 'Alvin' Williams, 88, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Holiday Manor in Princeton.
He retired from Whirlpool Corp.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann (Phillips) Williams; three daughters, Diann Garrett of Haubstadt, Debra Wilkerson of Eddyville, Ky., and Jeanette Rutherford of El Dorado, Ark.; a brother, Charles Williams of Browns, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Maumee cemetery, with military rites conducted by South Gibson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2714.
There will be no visitation at Holder Funeral Home.
Darwin Ray
NORRIS CITY - Darwin 'Lefty' Ray, 72, of Norris City, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis of respiratory failure.
He was a businessman and retired owner of the Wonder Market.
He was a member of United Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Helen; a daughter, Patricia Messinger, of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Mike Ray of Norris City; five grandchildren, Amy, Blaine and Brian Ray, and Rachel and Tricia Messinger.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home, the Rev. Rusty Pedigo officiating, with burial in I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m Monday at the funeral home.

Patricia Elpers
HAUBSTADT - Patricia S. Elpers, 54, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at her home of cancer.
She was a cafeteria manager at Haubstadt Community School.
She was a member of the Church Altar Society and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Frank; a daughter, Melissa Geittmann of Newburgh; two sons, Bradley of Evansville, and Brian Elpers of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Marilyn Elpers of Haubstadt, Ruth Ann Hurt of Francisco and Nancy Laswell of Haubstadt; four brothers, Charles and Robert Schmitt, both of Haubstadt, Don Schmitt of Princeton and Roger Schmitt of Kernersville, N.C.; her parents, Edwin and Marjorie Schmitt of Haubstadt; and four grandchildren, Evan Casey and Carlie, Chase and Christian Elpers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Francis Schoering officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Dortha Mae Pieper
BICKNELL - Dortha Mae Pieper, 87, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Freelandville Community Home.
She graduated from Bicknell High School in 1931.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bicknell Senior Citizens and Edwardsport Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Carl; and a daughter, Linda L. Schulze of Vincennes.
She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne, in 1976; and an infant daughter Dorene.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wampler-Shaw Funeral Home, with burial in Bicknell Memorial cemetery.

Marty Phillips
Marty Smith Phillips, 75, of Evansville, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Core Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of can-cer.
She was a 1944 graduate of Memorial High School and attended Lockyear's Business College.
She was a lab technician at Riecken Shoe Store.
She previously worked as a secretary and switchboard operator at Permanent Federal Bank, Mead Johnson, Hilliard-Lyons and American National Can as a secretary.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Kohler of Hudson, Ohio; two granddaughters, Andrea and Allison Kohler; and a companion, Norman Hebbeler of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas Phillips, in 1976.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Jay Davidson officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Browning Funeral Home.

Joseph Meyer
Joseph Roger Meyer, 42, formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at his home in New Orleans of complications of AIDS.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Carwile of Evansville; three sisters, Joyce Patton, Barbara Caswell and Cammy Kemps, all of Evansville; a brother, Brian Shull of Indianapolis; his mother, Carol Shull of Evansville; a grandmother, Ruth Russell of Evansville; nieces and nephews; and a companion, Calvin Triche of New Orleans.

Angela Ruth (Wilson) Russ, 41, of Evansville, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at St. Mary's Riverside of cancer.
She was a graduate of Bosse High School.
She worked at Sears.
She was a member of the IB Motor Club and Christian Family Worship Center.
Surviving are her husband of 22 years, Kenneth A. Russ of Evansville; a daughter, Anna Renee Russ; a son, David T.W. Russ; her parents, Jerry and Rhonda Wilson, all of Evansville; sisters and brothers-in-law who cared for her, the Rev. Gail and Rob Green, of Petersburg, Ind., and Rhonda Raye and Terry Webber of Evansville; two granddaughters, Journey Russ and Destiny Carlisle; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Bret Myers officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
