Cosby ‘Moe’ Wilson

Cosby Howard “Moe” Wilson, 72, of Evansville, died of a heart attack Saturday, March 31, 2001, at home.

He retired in 1988 after 39 years as a roofer for Local 106.

He was a hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mildred (Kinkade); a daughter, Emmagene Hollingsworth of Evansville; two sons, Harold and Aubrey Lee, both of Evansville; a sister, Virginia Keown of Evansville; six grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. R.R. Schwambach officiating, with burial in Shady Grove cemetery in Poole, Ky.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

James Nance

James H. Nance, 73, of Evansville, died of a heart condition Friday, March 30, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He retired from Bristol-Meyers Squibb after 32 years in maintenance.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Kimberly Oldham of Evansville; three sons, Keith of Mount Vernon, Ind., Kevin of Warsaw, Ind., and Kraig of Evansville; a sister, Anne N. Martin of Polkton, N. C.; and 10 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Natosha, Autumn, Matthew, Jacob, Hunter, Chase and Stetson Nance and Brooke and Tyler Oldham.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly A.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Donald W. Bernhardt officiating, with entombment in Park Lawn cemetery mausoleum, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James Whitledge

James H. Whitledge, 82, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He retired from Stein Food Brokers as a food salesman.

He was a 50-year member of Central United Methodist Church, where he worked at the church food pantry and was a member of the U.S. Sunday school class.

He was a World War II Army veteran, a volunteer for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114, Hadi Shrine, Scottish Rite, Drum and Bugle Corps, Legion of Honor, Lessing Lodge 464 and SWIRCA, and a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald of Chandler, Ind., Kim of Boonville, Ind., and Brian of Evansville; a sister, Mildred Whitledge of Evansville; a brother, Paul of Evansville; four grandchildren, Matthew, Erik, Jordan and Tyler Whitledge; and nephews.

His wife, Ruby (Owen), died in 1984.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Charles Robinson officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, where Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic rites at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to SWIRCA.

Leonard Pfister

Leonard George Pfister, 88, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at LaPorte (Ind.) Hospital.

He retired as a buyer after 35 years at Whirlpool Corp.

He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the Double Decade Club at Whirlpool, a member of St. Peter Catholic Church Choir, Elks and Barbershop Chorus. He was a 1930 graduate of New Harmony High School and a 1934 graduate of DePauw University.

Surviving are his wife, Martha (Halbig); two sons, Jerry of Nashville, Tenn., and Jeffrey of Indianapolis; a sister, Helen McCormick of New Harmony; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Church in LaPorte and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, Ind.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Essling Funeral Home in LaPorte, with rosary services at 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Church or a favorite charity.

Grovie Leninghan

DALE — Grovie A. Leninghan, 89, formerly of Velpen, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Community Care Center.

Her husband, Archy H., died in 1997.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cup Creek cemetery in Pike County.

There will be no visitation at Curtis Funeral Home.

Sara ‘Elaine’ Speicher

BOONVILLE — Sara “Elaine” Speicher, 58, died of cancer Friday, March 30, 2001, at home.

She worked for the Indiana Department of Revenue and Section 8 Housing Department.

She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and its Bible Study group.

Surviving are her husband of 15 years, Fritz; two sons, Jeffrey Caudill of Newburgh and Troy Caudill of Henderson, Ky.; two stepsons, Eric Speicher of Newburgh and Adam Speicher of Evansville; her mother, Garnet Bambei of New Harmony; a half sister, Carla Rowe of Chicago; a half brother, Scot Davidson of Newburgh; and four grandchildren, Jonathon, Cassandra, Amber and Ryan Caudill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christine Hardiman

PRINCETON — D. Christine Hardiman, 83, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was retired and worked at a drug store in Indianapolis.

She was a member of Bethel AME Church.

Surviving are two brothers, Emmett Hardiman of Indianapolis and Paul Hardiman of Springfield, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Sand Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Irma Huelsman

FORT BRANCH — Irma K. Huelsman, 94, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Rose Schmidt of Hudson, Fla., and Margie Stone of Astor, Fla.; a son, Charles of Jasper; a sister, Irene Helming of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Edwin in February, 2001, and Robert in 1990.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Church, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stodghill Funeral Home, with prayer services at 7 p.m.

Flo Bates

PRINCETON — Flo E. Bates, 98, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at The Waters.

She worked at Devoe Reynolds and Hansen Manufacturing.

She was a member of the old St. Mark United Brethren Church, St. Mark United Methodist Church and Golden Fleece Chapter of Eastern Star 176.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Webb of Princeton; a sister, Irene Wightman of Elizabeth, Ore.; a brother, Paul King of Winslow; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Gus, died in 1963, and a son, Elden A., died in 1998.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Birdseye cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Charles ‘Chick’ Moye

MOUNT VERNON — Charles E. “Chick” Moye, 72, died of an apparent heart attack Friday, March 30, 2001, at home.

He retired in 1990 as maintenance supervisor after 43 years at Indiana Farm Bureau Co-Op Association Inc.

He was a Korean War veteran, a member of First United Methodist Church, Western Hills Country Club, Elks, Eagles, American Legion in Mount Carmel and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carmi, Ill.

He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1946 and was a member of the M-Club and an inductee in the M-Club Hall of Fame.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Ann (Walter); a daughter, Charleen Layer of Mount Vernon; a son, W. Scott of Mount Vernon; a half sister, Cletus Smith of Seattle; a brother, George of Mount Vernon; and a granddaughter, Kelsey Nicole Moye.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Bellefontaine cemetery with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
