James Boeckman

JASPER — James J. Boeckman, 58, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his home of a heart attack. He was president of the Boeckman Furniture & Carpets.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Dottie (Jahn); a daughter, Jamey Baglan of Jasper; a son, Jeff of Jasper; his mother, Clara Boeckman of Ferdinand; five sisters, Marilyn Hospter and Eileen Lampert, both of Jasper, Judy Alexander of Liberty, N.C., and Joann Oser and Karen Schneider, both of Ferdinand; three brothers, Dennis and Jerome, both of Ferdinand, and Allen of Blackstock, Canada; and four grandchildren, Maggie and C.J. Boeckman and Evan and Ben Baglan. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy.

Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to service time at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.

Betty Jo Gettle

PETERSBURG — Betty Jo Gettle, 74, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her winter residence in Punta Gorda Fla. from complications of emphysema and heart failure.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald; two daughters, Donna Worthley and Lana Willis; a son, George; five grandchildren, Shari Ashby, Tonya McKinney, Leslie Antley, George II and Jennifer Fisk; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Feltner, Casey Ashby, Clifton and Rachelle Brock, Haley McKinney, and Macy Jo Gettle.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mattox Funeral Home, Terre Haute, followed by Eastern Star Lodge 22, with burial in Oakhill cemetery in Riley.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Anthony Parker Sr.

BOONVILLE — Anthony “Tony” Parker Sr., 31, formerly of Rockport, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his home.

He had been disabled since a 1997 auto accident.

He enjoyed auctions, fishing, and the outdoors.

He is survived by two daughters, Faith and Angel; a son, Anthony Jr.;a sister, Vicki Kemp of Newburgh; three brothers, Jimmy of Evansville, Chuck of Owensboro, Ky., and Ron of Rockport; his mother, Brenda Leslie of Rockport; nieces and nephews; and his companion, Rachel Miller.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with burial in Hackleman cemetery in Chrisney.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Virginia Hendrickson

Virginia L. “Jenny” Hendrickson, 61, of Evansville, died Wed-nesday, March 28, 2001, at Holiday Health Care of cancer. She retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1998 after 26 years.

She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 685.

Surviving are her daughter, Sheila Perkins of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a son Charles Crutchfield of Wilmington, N.C.; three sisters, Eileen Holland of Fairland, Ind., Carolyn Boynton of Brownsburg, Ind., and Debra Richards of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua Perkins; and a niece and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m Saturday, at Stout and Son Funeral Home in Russiaville, Ind., the Rev. LuAnn Hendershot officiating, with burial at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo, Ind.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice.

Beatrice Williams

Beatrice J. (Shutt) Williams, 68, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of heart failure.

She retired in 1990 after 20 years at Indian Industries.

She was a Pentecostalist.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, William G.; a daughter, Tonia Hawkins of Evansville; a son, Steven of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a sister, Beulah Smith of Big Clifty, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Hawkins and Amber, Heather, Aaron, Taylor and Jordan Williams; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Dave Mills officiating, with burial at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association.

George Harrold

George Harrold, 94, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at CASW/Normal Life Group Home.

He attended Evansville ARC Training Center and was a member of the Evangel Temple.

Surviving are his housemates at CASW/Normal Life Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Mausoleum chapel, the Rev. Samuel Smith officiating, with burial in the cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. to service time at the chapel. There will be no visitation at Boone Funeral Home.

James Carpenter

James Allen Carpenter, 35, of Newburgh, formerly of Cleveland, Miss., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He worked at CTI Inc. and ERI Inc. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School

Surviving are a daughter, Chelsea Carpenter of Alpena Mich.; mother, Alene Coats Carpenter of Cleveland; a sister, Tracy Lynn Kendall of Cleveland; a brother, Henry Lee Jr. of Cleveland; his fiancee, Bernadette Angelic Mattingly of Newburgh; and nieces.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Megan Hope and Tristan Lee Carpenter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, the Rev. Sam Cobb officiating, with burial at Linn cemetery.

Thurston Ward

Thurston R. Ward, 78, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of complications from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He retired from Whirlpool and was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Morgantown, Ky.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Gardner); four daughters, Brenda Harris, Donna Kitchens and Toni Ellis, all of Evansville; a sister, Ruth Phelps of Indianapolis; two brothers, Leon of Cadiz, Ky., and Archie of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cool Springs Church with burial in Cook cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown, Ky.

Blanch Stiles

PRINCETON — Blanch I. Stiles, 79, died Monday, March, 26, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

She retired from the meat department of the Giant Food Market in the Washington, D.C., area after 40 years.

She was a member of the Wheeling United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Pearl Kays and Betty Masters, both of Princeton, and Elizabeth Ours of Mount Olympus; a brother, Tom Stiles of Wheeling; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Olive cemetery in Mount Olympus.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul Schnarr

OTWELL — Paul W. Schnarr, 82, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the home of his daughter, Ruth Bush, in Otwell. He had been a farmer and worked at the Indiana Desk Co. in Jasper for 38 years.

He was a member of Otwell Wesleyan Church.

Also surviving are two sons, Paul Gary and Joseph Dean, both of Otwell; a sister, Dorothy Schnarr of Portersville; seven granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalee (LeMond), in 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at Otwell Wesleyan Church, with burial in New Liberty cemetery near Velpen.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from noon to service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Edward Miller

SOMERVILLE — Edward E. Miller, 95, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Gibson General Hospital. He had been a coal miner and member of United Mine Workers and the Mackey Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Hermena (Schnitt); two sons, Earl of Lynnville and Hilbert of Somerville; three grandchildren, Debra and Daniel Miller and Diana Reinert; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mackey Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Townsley cemetery.

Friends may call form 4:30 to 9 p.m. today at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City and from 8 a.m. to service time at the church.

Kathryn Friedman

JASPER — Kathryn A. Friedman, 81, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Scenic Hill Care Center in Ferdinand. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a quilter.

Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Schipp of Ferdinand, Marjorie Bachman of Jasper, Camilla Friedman of Louisville, Ky., and Patricia Bilinski of Chapin, S.C.; a son, Michael of Corydon; two sisters, Gladys Burger and Helen Hedinger, both of Jasper; two brothers, Bernard Fuhs of Montgomery and Richard Fuhs of Kokomo; and 11 grandchildren.

Her husband, Ermin J., died in 1994.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery.

Friends may call form 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Becher-kluesner Downtown Chapel, with a prayer vigil at 3 p.m.
