Robert Badgley

Robert Badgley, 63, Munfordville, Kentucky, and a former Tipton resident, died at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born August 9, 1943 in Gary to Clyde A. & Bertha (Smith) Badgley. After the death of his father, he was raised by his mother and step-father, Clifford White. He grew up in Crown Point and lived in Tipton until moving to Kentucky in 2001. He married Vickie Booher in 1975 and she died in September 1989. On October 21, 1990, he married Nell Copeland and she survives.

Bob was a production worker at Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo for over 28 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Moose, Eagles, Elks, VFW and American Legion in Rochester before transferring his memberships to Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War.

Survivors besides his wife Nell include three sons, Robert Badgley, Jr. and Mike Badgley and his wife Lisa , all of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Kevin Badgley and his wife Lori, Kokomo; two daughters, Dottie Hadricky and her husband Jim, Baltimore, Maryland and Annette Thornsbury, Kokomo; two step-sons, Tennyson Copeland and his wife Lori and Ronnie Copeland and his wife Sandy, all of Kokomo.

Bob is also survived by one grandson, Kevin Badgley; one step grandson, Ronald Copeland III; eight granddaughters, Megan Koch and husband Mike, Shanna Badgley, Kirsten Burke, Sharra Thornsbury, Mikela Badgley, Natasha Thornsbury, Brook Badgley and Kahlee Smith; one step-granddaughter, Rheadawn Dobbs.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde J. Badgley and two sisters, Shirley Badgley and Judy White.

His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to especially thank Tennyson Copeland for his help throughout Bob's illness.

Max A. Bagley

Max A. Bagley, 64, Kempton, died at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born January 22, 1943 in Tipton to Wilbur R. Sr. and Deva L. (Foulke) Bagley. He married Donna Robey June 23, 1961 and she survives.

He was a construction contractor, member of the Kempton Christian Church and former member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Kempton.

Besides his wife Donna, Max is also survived by one daughter Kathy Sharp and one son Richard Bagley both of Kempton. Also surviving is one brother, Wendell Bagley of Tipton, and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by four brothers William, Cletus, Gene, and Wilbur Bagley Jr. and one sister Phyllis A. Illges.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at Kempton Christian Church with Pastor Ron Whitacre presiding. There will be no visitation. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Grace Baird

Martha Grace Baird, 88 of Tipton died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton Hospital. She was born January 16, 1920 in Tipton County, the only child of George Ray & Orpha Elizabeth (Ludlow) Findling. On April 30, 1938 she married Chester Andrew Baird who preceded her in death on December 3, 1966. She was a life-long Tipton County resident and a Century Farm owner.

Martha was a dedicated mother, homemaker, flower gardener and volunteer. She volunteered her time and expertise at the Association for Retarded Children when it opened in Tipton County in the 1970's. Later she was a volunteer aide at Tri-Central Schools and a volunteer at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She resided in Green Valley, Arizona in the winter and volunteered at the Green Valley Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons and their wives, George Warren Baird (Judy), Lawrence Allen Baird (Rachel), Roger Leon Baird (Beverly) and Mark Andrew Baird (Linda), all of Tipton County. One son, Richard Dale Baird preceded in death in 1958.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, Carol (Mrs.. Steve) Christenberry, Greg, Brent, Andrew, Jennifer, Betsy, Brian, Richard, Joshua and Jacob Baird; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Revs. Leon Clark and Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marjorie H. Baranowski

Marjorie H. Baranowski, 81, 332 N. Independence Street, Tipton, died Friday, March 10, 2006 at her residence. She was born February 11, 1925, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, to Theodore & Josephine (West) Zimmerman. She lived in Ohio until moving to Tipton in 1947. On June 7, 1948, she married Eugene C. Baranowski and he died March 4, 1984.

She worked in the meat department at Carters Grocery Store and Wishers Meat Market, retiring in 1993.

Marjorie is survived by three sons, Eugene C. Baranowski, Jr., Tipton, Stephen A. Baranowski, Indianapolis, and Terrence L. Baranowski, Fishers; two sisters, Roberta Smith, Goldsmith and Joann Kelly, Cadiz, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There are no services planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Tipton County, P.O. Box 237, Tipton, Indiana, 46072. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Vera Mae (Bennett) Bauer

Vera Mae (Bennett) Bauer, 93 formerly of Tipton, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at Windsor Estates in Kokomo. She had formerly lived in Greentown and Russiaville. She was born June 18, 1914 in Tipton County to Olin Bennett and Janet (Hinkle) Bennett Askren. On August 17, 1931 she married Omer Frank Bauer and he died May 16, 1987.

She was a member of the Main Street Christian Church in Russiaville and the Ladies Aid Society. She had also been a member of the Monday Night Club in Tipton and the First Nighters Extension Homemakers Club in Russiaville.

Vera is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie & Norma Bauer, Kokomo, and Dennis & Georgia Bauer, Kokomo; grandchildren Ron & Debbie Bauer, Kenny & Julie Bauer, Sheryl & Roger Butner, Deena Alton, Shawn & Amy Bauer, Shane & Becky Bauer; great-grandchildren Kylie & Adam Salsbury, Kacee & John Dean, Jessica & Tyler Curnutt, Ryan Bauer, Madison Alton, Luke Bauer, Shane Bauer, Sydney Bauer, Avery Bauer and Riley Bauer; great-great-grandchildren Brayden & Logan Curnutt.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Della Watson and Marjorie Smith, one brother, Robert Bennett, and one grandson, Michael Lee Bauer.

Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton with Rev. David Leeder presiding. Burial will be in Tetersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Aid Society, Main Street Christian Church, P.O. Box 155, Russiaville, Indiana, 46979.

Helen C. Bean

Helen C. Bean, 89, Tipton, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born July 29, 1918 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Charles & Lora Mae (Caltender) Keele. She married Gerald Bean and he died in January 2006..

Helen worked at International Shoe Company in Mt. Vernon and was the owner of Geriellen Kennels also in Mt. Vernon.

She belonged to East Salem Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, the Jefferson County Historical Society and Jefferson County Home Extension Club.

Survivors include one son, Gene Lewis, Tipton; two sisters, Lucille Johnson, Dixon, Illinois and Maxine Jones, Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One sister, Mary Leffler, is deceased.

There are no local services planned. She will be cremated with her cremains being returned to Mt. Vernon for burial.

Richard C. "Dick" Beatty

Richard C. "Dick" Beatty, 72, Tipton, died at 7:49 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Tipton Hospital. He was born August 6, 1935 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Clair A. & Alma (Shinafelt) Beatty. On June 4, 1960 he married A. Catherine Marshall and she survives.

Dick worked for 27 years for PPG Industries, retiring in 1998. He had also served in the National Guard.

Survivors besides his wife Cathy include one daughter, Shari Hoover, Tipton; one son, Scott Beatty, Denver, Colorado; four brothers, Donald Beatty, Altoona, Pennsylvania, Bob Beatty, Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, David Beatty, Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, and Walter Beatty, State College, Pennsylvania; one sister, Linda Smiach, St. Michael, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren.

There is no visitation planned. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 2732 South Albright Rd. Kokomo, Indiana, 46902. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wesley "Wes" Beaty

Wesley "Wes" Beaty, 26, Tipton, tragically drown Saturday, June 16, 2007 in Hamilton County. He was born April 3, 1981 in Tipton to Robert Edward & Pamela S. (Coverdale) Beaty.

He graduated from Tipton High School in 1999. Wesley continued his education at Vincennes University and the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Florida and graduated in 2005.

He was employed at Fortune Wireless of Indianapolis where he worked as a crew supervisor. Wesley enjoyed riding his motorcycle, wakeboarding and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Pam & Dick Cage, Tipton; father Ed Beaty, Cicero; step-mother Suzanne Offutt, Noblesville; sisters Ashlee and Emylee Cage; maternal grandfather David Coverdale, Tipton; paternal grandmother, Irene Moreland, Tipton. Wesley was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Annabelle Coverdale and paternal grandfather, Robert Beaty.

Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. A celebration of life will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Kincaid. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosie Maxey Scholarship Fund through the Tipton County Foundation, P.O. Box 412, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

The family requests no fresh flowers or perfumes due to extreme allergies in the family.

Russ Beck

Russ Beck, 57, 709 N. Main Street, Tipton, died at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 23, 1948 in Noblesville to Floyd & Vivian (Cranfield) Beck. On August 8, 1970 he married Lin Laux and she survives.

He was a photographer and owner of Photography by Beck for 30 years. Before starting his photography career he taught at Taylor High School near Kokomo. He was a 1966 graduate of Hamilton Heights High School and a 1970 graduate of Indiana State University. Russ served in the U.S. Army from 1970-72.

Survivors include his wife Lin; one daughter, Emily Beck, Broad Ripple; one son, Jason Beck, Salt Lake City, Utah; his father, Floyd Beck, Cicero; one brother, David Beck, Brownsburg.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Creede Hinshaw presiding. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations to be made to Project ALS, 900 Broadway, Suite 901, New York, New York, 10003.

Deloris "Dee" "Dolly" Benge

Deloris "Dee" "Dolly" Benge, 81, Kempton, died at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Tipton Hospital. She was born April 18, 1927 in Clinton County to Balsar Kramer & Aulta Faith (Bozell) Mitzenberg. On June 7, 1945 she married Ruthford Dean Benge, Sr. and he died in 1966.

Dolly was retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo. She was an active member of Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church and the Kempton Women's Christian Society. She was an active supporter of animals through the Humane Society.

She is survived by three children, Linda Jackson, Canyon, Texas, Dean Benge, Jr., Ironton, Missouri and Priscilla White, Hampshire, Illinois. She also has five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dolly was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church, 208 S. West Street, Kempton, with Rev. Richard Covert presiding. Burial will be in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kempton Fire & Rescue, 103 West College Street, Kempton, Indiana, 46049.

Billa A. Boyer

Billa A. Boyer, 79, Tipton and a former Kempton resident, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Autumnwood at Tipton Hospital. She was born January 13, 1928 in Kempton to Gordon & Mary (Amos) Cunningham. She married Jeane Boyer in 1949 and he died June 24, 2000.

Billa was a retired Registered Nurse and had worked at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She belonged to the Kempton Christian Church and the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron. She was a 1945 graduate of Kempton High School and a graduate of the I.U. School of Nursing.

Survivors include one daughter, Trish Depinet, Tipton; one sister, Linda Stoms, Frankfort; three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Annette Justice and Curtis Boyer, and one brother, Olen Cunningham.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Kempton Cemetery with Rev. Ed Smith presiding and burial to follow. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton.
