Mary M. Florey Bringle

Mary M. Florey Bringle, 81 of Noblesville died Monday April 23, 2007 at her residence. She had previously lived in Lakeland, Florida and Tipton. She was born on June 27, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to W.A. Thomas and Mary "Rominger" Thomas. She married J.T. "Sam" Florey, Jr in 1946, he preceded her in death in 1974. Later, in 1988 she married Lester Brigle, he too preceded her in death in 2003.

Mary was co-owner of "6 Acre Restaurant" and worked for the Secretary of State Security Office and Auditors retiring in 1985. She was a member or Kemp United Methodist Church in Tipton and recently attended White River Christian Church.

Survivors include 2 sons; Thomas Florey of Noblesville and Robert Florey of Florida, 2 sisters; Bebe Stienwedal, Atlanta, Georgia and Jo Anne Eckelman, Charolette, NC, 5 grandchildren, Brennen, Kristen, Jason, Erika and Audrey.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with Rev. Tim Brock presiding. No visitation is scheduled.

Frances A. Bristol

Frances A. Bristol, 90, Tipton, died at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton Hospital. She was born March 18, 1916, in Chicago to Roy & Edna (Murphy) Justice. On October 2, 1937, she married Elwin "Bud" Bristol and he died December 23, 1994.

Frances worked in the dietary department at Tipton County Memorial Hospital from 1963-1974 and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph & Darlene Bristol, Windfall, Tony & Marsha Bristol, Kokomo, and Wayne & Julie Bristol, Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Rich Bristol, Barb Writtenhouse, Jeff Bristol, Amie Bristol, Peyton Bristol, Carla Tucker, Bruce Dittfield and Shane Dittfield; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Ruth Warner, is deceased.

Her funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Doerr presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ralph Bristol

Ralph Bristol, 67, Windfall died Friday May 2, 2008 at his residence. He was born on April 14, 1941 in Chicago to Elwin and Frances (Justice) Bristol. He married Darlene (Joerger) on October 27, 1962, she survives.

Ralph was a farm mechanic, working at Armstrong Farm Equipment, McKnights, Ellisons and Pring during his career. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, two children, Richard Bristol and wife Theresa of Tipton and Barbara Writtenhouse and good friend Dave Miller of Muncie. Ralph has seven grandchildren; Megan, Joshua, Tyler, Taylor, and Tabitha Bristol, Kayla Powell, and Logan Writtenhouse, two great grandchildren, and two brothers, Tony Bristol, Kokomo and Wayne Bristol, Tipton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations to fight pancreatic cancer may be made to the American Pancreatic Association, P.O. Box 14906, Minneapolis, MN, 55414.

Jean Moon Bronson

Jean Moon Bronson, 86, Tipton, went home to be with the Lord at 5:45 p.m. Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. She was born September 30, 1921 in Tipton to Ernie & Dorothy (Wilhelm) Moon. She graduated with Honors from Tipton High School in 1939. On December 30, 1939, she married William Bronson and he died August 2, 1973.

She has two sisters, Evelyn (Moon) Planalp and husband Dale of Tipton and Betty (Moon) Steele and husband Lloyd of Eaton Rapids, MI

She had three children, the late Larry Bronson, and wife the late Patty (Brown) Bronson, Sharon (Bronson) Foland, and husband Greg Foland of Kokomo, and Karen (Bronson) Angell of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Bill Bronson and wife Cheryl of Tipton, Danielle (Foland) Heyer and husband Travis of Downers Grove, IL, Susie (Bronson) Hussong and husband Andy of Elwood, Ron Angell and wife Lianne of Jacksonville, FL, Gina Angell of Greenwood and Brad Foland of Fishers; seven great-grandchildren, Blake Heyer, Korbin, Kurtis, Kaden and Kellen Hussong, Austin Angell, and Brady Fernandez.

She is also survived by four nieces and nephews, Neil Planalp and wife Cheri of Tipton, Jayne (Planalp) Day and husband Bob of Tipton, Greg Steele and wife Kathy of Fishers, and Sandy (Steele) Porter of Eaton Rapids, Michigan.

She worked at the Tipton Bldg and Loan, Tipton County Treasurer’s Office, and was an Accountant at Pioneer before retiring in 1976. She pursued her lifelong dream of being a teacher by going to IUK from 1974 – 1976; however, a heart attack kept her from completing her education. Instead, she volunteered at Tipton Community Schools as an assistant and substitute teacher from 1976 – 2004.

She was involved in several organizations, including a 60-year member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Lincoln Elementary School PTA, where she served as its first President. She was recipient of the first Jean Bronson Volunteer Service Award from Mid Central Reading Council in 1999. She was a 50 year member of the Double Dozen Club, serving 3 years as county President. She was a member of the Fairview Cemetery Board from 1984 – 2005. She was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Auto Club of Kokomo. She was a member of Tipton Historical Society and a volunteer at Tipton Hospital, where she had over 2500 hours of service.

Jean’s funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, where Pastors Doug Slack and Harvey Herring will lead the service. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2:00–8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at Young Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Martha M. Brown

Martha M. Brown, 79, Windfall, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton after a 17-year illness. She was born May 5, 1926, in Elwood to Arthur & Vernie (Bogue) Havens. On May 6, 1944, she married Jack L. Brown and he survives.

She worked as a secretary for Dr. Harold Ericson, retiring in 1978. Martha was a member of the Windfall Christian Church and sang in the choir. She was also in the Handy Hands Ladies Circle and the Women's Circle at the church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Prior to her stroke in July 1989, Martha enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, traveling and her beautiful flower gardens. She had also compiled two books of genealogy on the Havens and Castor families for others to treasure and enjoy.

Martha is survived by her husband Jack; one son, Sidney L. Brown and his wife Ann of Melbourne, Australia; one daughter, Ellen L. Hoback and husband Greg, Greentown; one brother, Howard Havens, Melbourne, Florida; three grandchildren, Leigh E. Swartzendruber and husband Brian, Greentown, Jennifer Degan and husband Randall, Avon, and John L. Brown, Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, Katherine and Luke Swartzendruber, Greentown.

Martha's funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 8 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Paul Gearhardt presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

When you think of Martha, please remember her with a smile on her face - one that she shared with so many others. Martha will be remembered and greatly missed by her immediate family and her Autumnwood extended family as well as the many friends she has made over the years.

F. Gene Brunk

F. Gene Brunk, 90, Tipton, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Tipton Hospital. He was born in Howard County on December 20, 1917 to Omer and Pearl (Rosier) Brunk. Gene married Mildred Kirby on October 10, 1948, she survives.

Gene had worked at Oakes Manufacturing - FMC Corporation until retiring in 1985 and more recently at Marsh for the past 22 years as a carry out person. He belonged to the West Street Christian Church, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Austin Lodge #128 F&AM in Tipton, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, York Rite of Indiana, York Rite Cross of Honour and served on the Tipton City Council for 12 1/2 years. Gene served in the Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife Mildred, a daughter, Jeannine Brunk-Aleksa and her husband John of Carmel and a son, Dennis G. Brunk of West Lafayette, a sister, Martha Jane Brunk in Florida, and one grandson, Scott Aleksa. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 115 W. Washington Street, Suite 1180 S, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.

Della Mae Buckley

Della Mae Buckley, 86, Sharpsville, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at home. She was born at home on May 20, 1920, in Tipton County. She was the daughter of John Emerick and Lula Mirtle (Bogue) Fennell. On August 21, 1937, she married George Edward Buckley. He proceeded her in death September 4, 1967.

She attended Ross School, Tipton County. She was a lifetime member of Windfall Church of the Brethren, was a Deaconess, taught Sunday school, was a member of the Ladies Aid and enjoyed quilting. She enjoyed being a homemaker and retired from Delco Electronics in 1985 after 13 years of service.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in law, Patricia Louise and Phillip Joe Buscher, Jeffersonville; three sons & daughters-in law, Terry Lee and Marjorie Ann Buckley, Robert Tim and Linda Lou Buckley, and Randy Ray and Linda Joan Buckley, all of Sharpsville; one brother, George Francis Fennell; one half brother, Larry Kenneth Fennell; grandchildren Kathy & Richard Cloat, Phillip Jay & Kristi Buscher, Charmaine & Bill Kinnett, Cynthia & George Butler, Christina Buscher, Troy & Kristi Buckley, Melanie & Steve Janke, Melinda Hobson, Robert & Kim Buckley, Aaron Buckley and Sarah Buckley, and foster grandchildren Mary & Doug Jackson and Connie & Raymond Otter. Great grandchildren Derek Cloat, Melinda Buscher, Kristen, Kaitlyn, Douglass & Dalton Buckley, Anna & Ali Janke, Jacob Hobson, and step and foster great grandchildren Kyle Naugle, Cheri, Raymond Jr. (RJ), and Cari Otter, Justin and Amanda Edens, Jason Engleking, Regina Fields, Tommy & Joshua Montgomery, Billy Kinnett, J.R. and Chris Turner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Anna Ruth Jarvis, Vesta Bernice Gray, Betty Lorane Fennell, Laura Ellen Gray, grandson, Tracy Lee Buckley, and foster grandson, Larry Turner. Also, half brothers Levon Lee Fennell, Melvin Joe Fennell, Ronald Ray Fennell & John Fredrick Fennell, half sisters, Carol Ann Hight, Olga Roberta Thurston, Maralyn Jean, Mary Ella Hudson, and Freda Hohl.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 West Jefferson St., Tipton with Rev. Arley Mitcham and Troy Buckley officiating. Burial will be at Nevada Cemetery. Viewing is Monday, October 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Windfall Church of the Brethren, or the American Cancer Society.

Mildred D. Burgan

Mildred Della Burgan, 90, Tipton County, died at 1:08 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at Alterra Sterling House of Kokomo. She was born May 31, 1917 in Goldsmith to Omer & Jessie (Barr) Phares and lived in the same house on the farm her entire life. On May 31, 1936 she married Max W. Burgan and he died in December 1987.

She was a housewife and a long time employee of Farmers Loan & Trust in Tipton. She was a former member of the Goldsmith United Methodist Church and an organist at the church. She had also belonged to the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church and was a pianist there. Mildred belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of many Christian women's organizations.

She is survived by one daughter, Ramona Orbaugh and her husband Jeffrey, Goldsmith; one son, Dr. Phil Burgan and his wife Connie, Kokomo; grandchildren Christopher & Kristi Orbaugh, Cameron & Heather Orbaugh, Blake & Rachel Burgan, Blaine & Neelu Burgan, and William & Elizabeth "Betsy" Wenz; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers early in their childhood.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a private family service to follow. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church, 208 S. West Street, Kempton, Indiana, 46049.

Don Burget

C. Don Burget, age 73 of Celina, Ohio, died Saturday June 28, 2008 at Mercer Health Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio. He was born to Mary (Wheatley) and Dale Burget on May 22, 1935 in Prairie Twp, Tipton Co. Indiana.

He was better known to many as "Boss" Burget in the community. He graduated from Prairie Twp High School in 1953 and his employment included Perfect Circle Corp. later known as Dana Corp. and he later became a Staff Representative in District 30 of the United Steel Workers Union. He lived in Kokomo, Elkhart Indiana and Celina Ohio later retiring in Celina.

He is survived by 3 sisters. Marianna (Don) Gray of Tipton IN, Madonna (John) Spratt of Las Brisas Honduras Central America, Marilyn (Danny) Nash of Prairie Twp. Tipton County and a very special friend Mary McClain of Celina, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald E. Burget.

His memberships included Eagles and Moose Lodges in Celina Ohio, a 50 year member of the Austin Masonic Lodge #128 F&AM and Elk's BPOE #1012 in Tipton IN. He served in the military from 1958 to 1960 being stationed in Germany.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday July 1, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home 715 E Main St Coldwater Ohio and also 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W Jefferson St., Tipton with funeral services at 7:00 p.m. and Steve Brown will preside.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the donor's charity of choice.

Omer Leroy Burkett

Omer Leroy Burkett, 91, Tipton, died at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Leroy was born in Tipton on February 28, 1916 to Omer and Mabel (McNeal) Burkett. He married Gracie Jane Rudkin on June 20, 1948, and she preceded him in death.

Leroy was a farmer. He was a member of the Hobbs Christian Church, the Austin Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine Club. He served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He belonged to the American Legion.

Leroy is survived by one daughter, Linda Keifer and two sons, John E. Burkett and Michael L. Burkett, all of Tipton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Alpha Ellison of Tipton. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Avie Trefz and Susie Beeh and two brothers, Lloyd and James Burkett.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be performed at the start of the funeral service.

Frederick J. "Fred" Buscher

Frederick J. "Fred" Buscher, 90, Noblesville, and a former Atlanta resident, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born September 12, 1915, in Atlanta to Augustine "Gus" and Cora Pearl (Wilson) Buscher. He was married to Julia "Judy" Tyson on February 9, 1945 in the Windfall Christian Church parsonage by Rev. Lawrence and she survives.

After his graduation in 1935 from Atlanta High School he started farming. During W.W. II he served in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific at Samoa and New Caledonia after completing training at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

After receiving an Honorable Medical Discharge from the Navy, he became employed at Delco Remy in Anderson. In 1948 Fred was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier until his retirement on December 31, 1979.

He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church, serving as treasurer, usher and deacon, and was very active in the church and community affairs. After moving to Noblesville he attended White River Christian Church. Fred was in the Serval Club and served the Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster. He was a volunteer fireman with the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department, belonged to the Tipton American Legion, Library Board and National Rural Letter Carriers Association.

Survivors include his wife Judy of Noblesville; two sons, Phil Buscher and wife Pat of Jeffersonville, and Bob Buscher and wife Ann of Chesterton; one daughter, Linda Haggadone of Romeo, Michigan; two sisters, Helen Haskett, Tipton, and Catharine Joerger, Hobbs; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Three sisters, Harriet Buscher, Martha McEntee and Mary Forkner and two brothers, John Buscher and Robert Buscher, are deceased.

Fred's funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Barnett and Rev. Tim Brock. Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
