Richard D. "Dick" Cage

Richard David "Dick" Cage, 50, Tipton, suddenly passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1957 in Kokomo to Robert Dale & Rita Ann (Ertel) Cage.

He graduated from Tipton High School in 1975. Dick continued his education at Indiana State University and graduated in 1980.

He was employed at Chrysler Corporation where he worked as the 3rd shift supervisor. Dick was a devoted husband, father and friend. He enjoyed following volleyball and softball, grilling out and swimming with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Pam (Coverdale) Cage; daughters Ashlee and Emylee Cage at home; three brothers, Doug Cage and wife Jaene of Greenwood, Jerry Cage and wife Melanie of Monroe Texas, and Joe Cage and wife Mary of Arcadia; two sisters, Geraldine Mahaney and husband Joe of Tipton and Mary Jo Phifer and husband Danny of Tipton .

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Wesley Beaty.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton, with Rev. Keith Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosie Maxey Scholarship Fund through the Tipton County Foundation, P.O. Box 412, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Please, no fresh flowers or perfumes due to extreme allergies in the family.

Mabel B. Callahan

Mabel B. Callahan, 89, 610 E. North Street, Tipton, died at 12:25 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Autumnwood Extended Care. She was born April 26, 1916, in Tipton County to John A. & Lilly (Scott) Moore. She married Ralph Shupperd and after his death she married Francis Callahan. He is also deceased.

She worked as a sales clerk at Bryan's Hardware in Tipton and retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo in 1975. Mabel was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and loved to cook, garden and play cards.

She is survived by one daughter, Anita Heflin and husband Don, Tipton; one granddaughter, Lisa Weaver and husband Tom; and one great-grandson, Joshua Weaver and wife Kara.

Three brothers, Walter, Scott & Charles Moore and three sisters, Lena Moore, Esther Goodnight & Inez Moore are deceased.

Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding and burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82, Tipton, or the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Sandra K. Camden

Sandra K. Camden, 42, Tipton, died at 2:55 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton Hospital. She was born September 14, 1965 in Tipton to Ira L. "Cotton" & Nan F. (Phillips) Payne. She had lived in Aurora, Colorado from 1996-1999. Sandy was a 1984 graduate of Tipton High School and had worked in the secretarial field.

She is survived by her mother, Nan Payne and special friend, Jess Reeder, Tipton; two brothers and one sister, Silas "Lee" Payne and wife Marcia, Atlanta, Liz Scott and husband Steve, Goldsmith, and Rick Payne and wife Carmen, Tipton; three nieces, Kirsten & Kelsey Payne and Jessi McCullough. She was preceded in death by her father, Cotton Payne.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Revs. Cliff Kelly and Paul Hewitt presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Edwin Lee Cardwell

Edwin Lee Cardwell, 63, Atlanta, died at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. He was born July 14, 1942, in Elwood to Everett Floyd & Harriet Martha (Beckett) Cardwell. On January 24,1963 he married Lana Joan Eisele and she survives.

He was a farmer in Tipton and Hamilton Counties and had worked at Perfect Circle in Tipton for 15 years. Lee was a member of the Cicero Christian Church and also attended the Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. He enjoyed antique tractors, farm shows and activities, racing and traveling.

Lee is survived by his wife; one son, Michael Shawn Cardwell and wife Michele, Westfield; one daughter, Karen Lee Heffelmire and husband Ben, Tipton; his step-mother, Joanne Cardwell, Atlanta; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Cardwell, Joshua Cardwell, Joseph Cardwell, Jacob Heffelmire and Noah Heffelmire.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Kurt Gremel presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service Inc., 4701 N. Keystone Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46205.

Glenda Faye Carlson

Glenda Faye Carlson, 47, Russiaville, died at 3:18 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 in Howard County as the result of an auto accident. She was born January 17, 1959 in Benham, Kentucky to Carol & Jean (Bush) Shelby.

She worked at IMMI in Westfield, attended Heartland Ministries Church and had attended Tipton High School.

Glenda is survived by her mother and stepfather, Jean & Ron Short, Kempton; two sons, Brandon Hole, Russiaville and Kerry Hole, Centerville, Ohio; one daughter, Bethany Carlson, Russiaville; her fiancé Duane T. Egelhoff, Peru; one brother, Mike Shelby, Kempton; one sister, Brenda Beam, Russiaville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Perry Shelby.

Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Bill Salsbery presiding. Burial will be in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent's Bariatric Center, 13500 North Meridian Street, Carmel, Indiana, 46032.

Jack M. Carter, Jr.

Jack M. Carter, Jr, 37 of Indianapolis died at 5:50 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2007 . Jack was born in Indianapolis on October 19, 1969 to Jackie Sr. and Shirley (Johnson) Carter. He married Linda L. (Tolle), on May 20, 2006 and she survives.

Jack was an instructor for semi-tractor drivers.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Nicholas and Jason Carter, both of Indianapolis, three brothers, Howard and Steve Carter of Greenwood, Christopher Johnson of Indianapolis; one sister, Tammie Carter of Greenwood; an aunt Theresa Sutt, of Beach Grove and an Uncle, Joe Johnson, of Indianapolis.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at Kemp United Methodist Church in Tipton with the Rev. Mark Ingle presiding.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mickyle T. Cast

Mickyle T. Cast, 21, Tipton died at 6:49 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008 at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 3, 1986 in Tipton to Mike & Terri (Kellum) Cast, Sr. Mickyle had also lived in Elwood for eight years.

He was a student at Ball State University and attended First Baptist Church in Tipton. Mickyle was an avid musician and basketball player. He majored in business and was preparing to join the National Guard. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.

Mickyle is survived by his mother and step-father, Terri & Brett Curnutt, Tipton; his father, Mike Cast, Sr., Elwood; brothers and sisters Mike Cast, Jr. and wife Angela, Noblesville, and children Madalyn and Ryan; Matt Cast and wife Lindsay, Anderson, and children Blake, Aubrey and Katie; Stephanie Campbell and husband Darrin, Tipton, and son Gavin; Katrina Cast, Indianapolis; Spencer Curnutt, Chicago and Emily Curnutt, Tipton.

He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles; grandparents Linda and the late Hersh Robinson, Tipton, Laura Cast, Tipton, Darlyn & Dell Hughes, Bradenton, Florida, Rick Curnutt, Tipton. He was preceded in death by grandfathers John Kellum, Bill Cast and Bob Cast.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the First Baptist Church, Tipton, with Pastors Tim Hufhand and Mark Ward presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Upwards Basketball Program c/o Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Phyllis Mae Cauble

Phyllis Mae Cauble, 80, Tipton, died at 7:38 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Tipton Hospital. She was born May 12, 1927 in Tipton County to Grancie "Jack" & Alice (Jarrett) Lee. On September 21, 1946, she married Charles Cauble and he survives.

She worked as a custodian at Tipton Middle School for many years. Survivors besides her husband include three sons, Robert Cauble and wife Sheri, Kokomo, William Cauble and wife Janet, Elwood, Richard Cauble and wife Linda, Cape Coral, Florida; one daughter, Belinda Cauble, Tipton; and one sister, Betty Searle, Kokomo.

Phyllis is also survived by six grandchildren, Carrie Babcock and husband Jim, Greg Cauble and wife Lisa, R.C. Cauble, Parker Cauble, Stacia Cauble and Shelbie Cauble; three great-grandchildren, Baylee Cauble, Jaymee Mills and Conner Babcock; one step great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Hogge. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Steve Cauble.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Smith presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ronald E. Christman

Ronald E. Christman, 59, Tipton, died at 2:08 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born August 25, 1946, in Opelousas, Louisiana to Robert E. & Marian (Johnson) Christman. On December 31, 1969 he married Robin Cochran and she survives.

He was the former owner of Christman Building Supplies in Tipton and an active member of Kemp United Methodist Church. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge in Tipton. Ron was a 1969 graduate of Depauw University and a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

Survivors besides his wife Robin include three sons, Robert Christman, Carmel, Tim Christman, Centerville, Ohio, and David Christman, Indianapolis; one brother, Robert Christman, Cincinnati; his mother and step-father, Marian & B. Milton Durham, Zionsville; three grandchildren.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 17 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton.

Preston L. Cole

Preston L. Cole, also known as Alabam, 79, Tipton, died at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Tipton Hospital. He was born February 1, 1927 in Guin, Alabama to Jesse P. & Golda (LeDuke) Cole. On March 9, 1963, he married Nancy Goar and she survives.

He was self employed most of his life and for the last 30 years he owned and operated Cole's Backhoe Service. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church, was a member of the Tipton Elks, American Legion and National Rifle Association. Preston was a combat engineer in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife Nancy; three sons, Phil and Rick Cole, Frankfort and Mike Cole, Fishers; one step-son, B.J. Andrews and his wife Dr. Marilyn Andrews, Downers Grove, Illinois; three step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin and Alexander Andrews.

His funeral will be at 11:00 Wednesday, September 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ingle presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William Allen "Bill" Conaway

William Allen "Bill" Conaway, 59, Fishers, died at 11:53 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Elwood June 20, 1948 to Lester Allen & Barbara (Whisler) Conaway. On August 1, 1971 he married Evelyn L. Jones and she survives. Bill was an owner/operator truck driver.

Survivors besides his wife Evelyn include four children, Jeff Conaway and Steve Conaway, both of Tipton, Cheryl Pickett and husband Steven, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and Jennifer Conaway, Fishers; three brothers, Stan Conaway and wife Tish, Chatham, Virginia, Bob Conaway and wife LuAnn, Tipton, and Rick Conaway and wife Debbie, Tipton; four grandchildren, Jeremy Conaway and wife Katie, Ashley Conaway, Stacey Jarrell and husband Aaron, and Jamie Phifer and husband Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jarrell, Makayla Jarrell, Delaney Phifer and Kenzie Phifer.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Rod Pickett and Rev. Joe Sawyer presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, and from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions for kidney cancer research be made to the American Cancer Society, 2723 South Albright Road, Kokomo, Indiana, 46902.

H. Irene Cook

H. Irene Cook, 87, Tipton, died Wednesday May 24, 2006 at 4:00pm at Autumnwood Extended Care Facility, Tipton. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana on May 28, 1918 to Luke Frye and Grace (Johnson) Graham. Irene grew up in Arcadia, Indiana marrying Fred W. Cook on August 16, 1944. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1996.

Irene was a homemaker. She was a past member of Albright United Methodist Church and currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Arcadia, holding several offices including Treasurer, and Recording Secretary. She belonged to New Hope Extension Homemakers Club where she has held the offices of Secretary, Treasurer, and News Correspondent.

Irene is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. C. Patrick (Elaine) Hreachmack of Carmel, 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and 1 step great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son Stephen F. Cook; 2 sisters, Edith E. Hodgen and Mary L. Perkins; and 2 brothers, Carl Graham and Paul Graham.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 27, at 3:00pm at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Ed Fisher presiding. Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday prior to the funeral from 1:00-3:00pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 500 E. North Street, Arcadia, Indiana, 46030, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
