Martha Jean "Marty" DeShon

Martha Jean "Marty" DeShon, 52, 1208 S. St. Rd. 213, Tipton, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, at her residence. She was born January 1, 1954, in Tipton to Thomas "Bud" & Marjorie (Wood) Twilling. On June 15, 1991, she married Thomas DeShon and he survives

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Marty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her husband Tom; her mother Marjorie Twilling, Tipton; two daughters and two sons, Rachel (Johnson) Luttrell and husband Jeremy, Kempton, SSG Mary N. "Nicci" Barajas and husband SFC Jose, Harker Heights,Texas, Rodney Kelly and wife Amy, Tipton, and Justin Kelly, Kempton; two sisters, Mary Graham, Tipton, and Jane Ripberger, Tipton; eight grandchildren, Robert, Alec & Sydny Bohuk, Nathan Hoover, Kaleb Luttrell, Troy, Gabrielle & Madison Barajas, and Emma Grace Kelly.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Athena Alease Johnson, one sister, Patricia Leisure, and one brother, Robert Roadruck.

Marty's funeral will at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sydny Bohuk Hearing Aid Trust Fund, c/o Steel Parts FCU, 201 N. Main Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Bernard "Allen" Dickover

Bernard "Allen" Dickover, 64, Tipton, died at 4:25 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 25, 1944 in Tipton to Kenneth & Mary (Jackson) Dickover. He married Karen McConnell in 1964 and she survives.

He was a 4th generation gentleman farmer. Allen served in the National Guard from 1964-1970. He belonged to the Tuesday Fishing Club, was a past member of the Eagles in Elwood, and a past member of the Tipton Moose Lodge. He had served on the Madison Township Fire Department and was a member of Hobbs Christian Church.

Survivors besides his wife Karen include three children, Mike Dickover and wife Pam, Nashville, Tennessee, Corinne Spray and husband Bryan, Goldsmith, and Susan Richeson and husband Kurt, Culver; his mother, Mary Dickover, Atlanta; one sister, Linda Leininger, Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Heather Spray, Holly Spray, Olivia Dickover, Abigail Dickover, Graham Richeson, Celia Richeson, and Stesha Williams; one great-grandchild, Raegan Spray; nieces Larrinda Bass, Leslie VanOverberghe and Allison Davidson.

Allen's funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Keith Kincaid presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Nora E. Downes

Nora E. Downes, 93, Tipton died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton. She was born October 15, 1912, in Tipton County to William Henry & Pearl May (Balser) Hartman. On May 29, 1936, she married Russell Downes and he died April 15, 1990. She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church in Tipton.

She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Ann Holland, San Diego, California. Two sisters, Esther Hannah and Mildred Utterback, and four brothers, Ora E. Hartman, Francis W. Hartman, Rudy Hartman and Orville Hartman are deceased.

Nora's funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ingle presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Cordell Dulworth

Cordell Dulworth, 77, Kokomo, and formerly of Windfall, died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006 at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born April 18, 1929 in Celina, Tennessee, to Charles & Rosetta (Wilburn) Dulworth. On January 28, 1950, he married Hassie Mae Boles and she died February 17, 1998.

He farmed for 23 years and then retired from Durex Products in Windfall in 1997. Cordell loved to spend time fishing and hunting.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Deanie & Roger Lytle, Kokomo, Sue & Barry Bowser, Kokomo, and Ann Moore, Kokomo; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray Dulworth, Kokomo, Lawrence Dulworth, Kokomo, and Larry & Becky Dulworth, Windfall; two brothers, Kirby Dulworth, Windfall and Edward Dulworth, Springfield, Tennessee.

Cordell is also survived by nine grandchildren, Amy Bunch, Brad Marr, Tommy Dulworth, Melissa Delrymple, Jeremy Marr, Shane Fawbush, Amanda Keen, Bryan Dulworth and Blake Karabin; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell, Freeman and Jay Dulworth, and two sisters, Estelle Ellis and Annalee Rich.

His funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles R. Dunning

Charles R. Dunning, 74, Atlanta, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, after a battle with cancer and pheunonia. He was born March 30, 1933 in Celina, Tennessee to Bee & Bertha (Head) Dunning.

Charles served two years in the Army and received an Army Occupation Medal (Germany), a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He retired in 1990 after 33 years of employment with Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo. He was an avid fisherman for many years and enjoyed camping, boating and riding a motorcycle as a young man. He was always a fan of western movies and that interest grew through the years. He was a member of the East Union Christian Church.

Charles is survived by his son, Michael Ray Dunning, Indianapolis. He was the beloved brother of Radford Dunning and his wife Martha, Tipton, and Ruth Basey and her husband Max, Atlanta. He will be missed by his three nieces, Carolyn Brown of Indianapolis, LouAnn Cash and her husband Ray of Carmel, and Rita Smith and her husband Dave of Tipton, and his two nephews, Rex Dunning and his wife Charlene of Atlanta and Ron Dunning and his wife Jan of Dallas, Texas, and eleven great nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 21 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Dunning presiding. Burial will be in East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 3905 Vincennes Road, Suite 504, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46268.

The family would like to thank Charles' friends and caregivers at Miller's Merry Manor, Tipton, Riverview Hospital and Asera Care Hospice for their help and kindness.

Ralph E. Elston

Ralph E. Elston, 83, Tipton, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at his residence. He was born February 12, 1924 in Tipton to Harley & Goldie Elston. On November 22, 1947 he married Dorothy Witte and she died August 26, 1991.

He worked as a millwright at Haynes-Stellite in Kokomo. Ralph was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church and the Elks. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He is survived by one son, Darrell Elston and his wife Christina, Tipton; one son-in-law, Fred DeWitt, Sharpsville; five grandchildren, Alisha Martin, Lindsay Elston, Bryan Elston, Derek Elston and Aubree Elston; one sister, Marge Shock, Vevay, Indiana; and a special companion, Louise Riley, Tipton..

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, one daughter, Darleen DeWitt, one grandson, Patrick DeWitt, and two brothers, Ruben and Bud Elston.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ingle presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Robert Lee "Frog" Engleman

Robert Lee "Frog" Engleman, 79, Tipton, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 7, 1927 in Petersburg, Indiana, to Frank & Fannie (Brenton) Engleman. On June 16, 1945 he married Mary Catherine Dilley and she survives.

He was a tool and die maker, skilled tradesman, at General Motors' Delco Electronics in Kokomo, retiring in 1989. He attended West Street Christian Church, Masonic Lodge, Pike Lodge #121, F. & A.M. in Petersburg, Indiana. He also belonged to the Murat Shriners A.A.O.N.M.S. of Indianapolis, Valley of Indianapolis Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, N.M.J. Robert was in the Army Communication Corp serving in the Army of Occupation during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine; two daughters, Dianne K. Murer and her husband Dr. Robert E. Murer, Danville, and Cheryl L. Currens and Ross Stephen Currens, Kokomo; two grandsons, Dr. Brian R. Murer and his wife Jenni, Bloomington, and Brandon E. Murer, Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Jack Murer and Annie Murer.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Berniece Hardin, Doris Henry, John Engleman and Mildred Engleman.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lillie May Enneking

Lillie May Enneking, 97, Dublin, Ohio, and a former Tipton resident, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 in Convalarium Nursing Home in Dublin. She was born May 31, 1909 in Frankfort, Indiana and raised there by her parents Joseph Felix & Fleeta Allen (Robinson) Humphrey. On August 11, 1934, she married Robert Joseph Enneking and he died February 9, 1987. Throughout her life she had lived in several locations in Arizona, California and Ohio.

Lillie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton, past president of the Rosary Society, and had cooked at St. John's School for many years with Madonna Kinder. She was an avid knitter and seamstress, and loved to crochet with her specialty being afghans.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Joseph Carl "Joe" Enneking, Columbus, Ohio, Robert Jerome "Jerry" Enneking, Incline Village, Nevada and Judith Ann "Judy" Stewart, Clearwater, Florida. Lillie had eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Carl Humphrey and George Robinson Humphrey, and three sisters, Lucille Elizabeth Humphrey, Martha Zilla Sheets and Josephine Cleo Green.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. and a Rosary Service to follow.

Jeffrey Wayne Etheridge

Jeffrey Wayne Etheridge, 43, Fishers, and a former resident of Tipton and LaFontaine, Indiana for 15 years died Sunday, April 22, 2007 in Indianapolis. He was born April 21, 1964 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Paul F. & Joan D. (Hutton) Etheridge.

He was a First Sergeant in the Indiana State Police, serving for 22 years. Jeff was a 1982 graduate of Tipton High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton, and was the recipient of the Indiana State Police Silver Star.

Jeff is survived by two sons, Adam Etheridge, Tipton, and Kyle Etheridge, Ft. Wayne; his parents of Tipton; three brothers, Scott Etheridge and wife Deidre, Steven Etheridge and Bradley Etheridge all of Tampa, Florida; nieces Katlyn and Allison Etheridge and nephew Lane Etheridge.

His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1385 S. St. Rd. 19, Tipton, with Rev. Kurt Gremel presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, all at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1385 S. St. Rd. 19, Tipton, Indiana, 46072, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

Jeff was a loving, caring father and son. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger.

Esther M. Findling

Esther M. (VanPatten) Findling, 89, 4871 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born January 16, 1917, in Syracuse, New York to Harry & Margaret (Rohlen) VanPatten and lived there for 40 years. She then moved to Elyria, Ohio for 15 years and Columbus, Ohio for two years before settling in Tipton in 1972. She married John Boyer Findling on July 31, 1943, and after 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on October 17, 2003.

She was a homemaker and mother and was a member of Kemp United Methodist Church. Early in life she was a soloist and choir member of the Church of the Savior in Syracuse. Esther was a graduate of Syracuse (New York) University with a Bachelor's Degree in Library Science. She was a member of the Tipton Embroidery Circle and the Tipton County Extension Homemakers Organization. An avid bridge player she enjoyed winning a bridge championship.

Esther was a former volunteer for the Elyria Memorial Hospital and in the last few years she knitted over 70 hats for newborn babies she donated to several hospitals. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed spending many winters in South Florida with her husband.

Survivors include one daughter, Judith Findling Stanger, Bridgeton, New Jersey; one son, John Boyer Findling, Jr., Mableton, Georgia; three grandchildren, Regan Ruth Stanger, M.D., New York City, Ross Adam Stanger, Bridgeton, New Jersey, and Mary Ellen Lewis, Charlotte, North Carolina; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Ruth Lewis. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.

There will be no public service. Friends are invited to greet Esther's family from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at her residence, 4871 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton.

Dale S. Forkner

Dale S. Forkner, 82 of Tipton died Wednesday July 25, 2007 at 12:30pm in his residence after a 5 month illness. He was born on August 2, 1924 in Tipton County to Guy S. and Mamie (Smith) Forkner. Dale married Mariruth (Curnutt) on April 30, 1943, she survives.

Dale retired in 1997 from the production line at Delco. He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church and had served in the Army during WWII.

He is survived by his wife Mariruth, 2 sons; David M. Forkner of Morristown, IN and Michael D. Forkner of Tipton and 1 daughter; Sue I. Forkner of Tipton. Dale has 5 grandchildren; Brian, Jessica, Robert, David and Leanna Forkner and 2 great-grandchildren; twins Ashlynn and Kendra, and 1 sister; Maxine Eaton of Venice, Florida. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be on Saturday July 28, 2007 at 2:00pm at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ward presiding. Burial will be at the Arcadia Cemetery where military rites will be performed. Visitation will occur on Saturday from noon until 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82 Tipton, Indiana 46072.
