Barbara Anna Groscop, 77, of Fort Wayne, who loved history, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Lutheran Hospital.

"She was awarded several trophies as an avid bowler and golfer, and was a reader to the blind."

The Vermilion, Alberta, Canada native retired in 1975 from GTE/Verizon. She was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, where she was also a volunteer. Surviving are a sister, Frances Doub of Kirkland, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Her sister, Irene Bright, preceded her in death. Services are 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St. Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Graveside services are 9 a.m. Thursday at Leesburg cemetery, Leesburg. Memorials are to the church.

Gertraud "Trudy" Hinz
Fort Wayne — 1920-2001

Gertraud "Trudy" Hinz, 81, of Fort Wayne, a native of Potsdam, Germany, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and watching animals. Surviving are sons Juergen Hinz of Fort Wayne, Horst Hinz of Bowdoinham, Maine, and Peter Menger of Woodburn; and a brother, Hans G. Anderl of Berlin, Germany. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene P. Menger, and her second husband, Kurt Hinz. Services are 8 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling two hours before services. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery. Memorials are to the American Heart Association or Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

Marie A. Meinzen
Fort Wayne — 1912-2001

Marie A. Meinzen, 88, of Fort Wayne died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.

The Fort Wayne native was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Surviving is a brother, Milton A. Meinzen of Fort Wayne. Private services were held Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials are to the church.

Gene O. Summers
Fort Wayne

Gene O. Summers, 68, of Fort Wayne, a member of American Legion Post 47, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Lakeland Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla.

"He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed golf and fishing." The Union City native retired in 1993 from NBD after 31 years of service. He was a member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at Parkview Hospital and was a Korean War Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Joyce M.; a son, Marc T. of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Roxanne S. Yoquelet of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His daughter, Jacqueline, preceded him in death. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Jay County. Memorials are to the American Heart Association.

Anne C. White
Fort Wayne

Anne C. White, 80, of Fort Wayne, a retired teacher, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.

The Omaha, Neb., native retired in 1984 from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 21 years of service, had taught at South Side High School and was a journalist. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, National Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a past contributor to Today's Catholic Editorial. There are no survivors. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour before services. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery. Memorials are to the church.

George R. "Randy" Bauer
Fort Wayne

George R. "Randy" Bauer, 51, of Fort Wayne, a native of Charleston, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at home.

"He enjoyed being outdoors and playing golf. A loyal friend, he was strong in his convictions and always treasured time spent with his grandsons."

He worked with Dietrich Industries as a logistics manager for 20 years, was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors for Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity. He was also a member of the National Freight Transportation Association.

Surviving are his wife, Cheryl K.; a son, Todd R. of New Haven; a daughter, Christanne L. Bauer-Johnson of New Haven; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Ronald Niemeyer of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Michael S. of Fort Wayne; a stepbrother, Steven Niemeyer of Elgin, S.C.: stepsisters Vicki Bell and Karin Odum, both of Fort Wayne; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services are 3 p.m. Friday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy. E., New Haven, with calling one hour before services.

Memorials are to the New Haven United Methodist Foundation Inc. or Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity.

Marilyn K. Castle
Fort Wayne — 1922-2000

Marilyn K. Castle, 78, of Fort Wayne, who had worked as a nurse's aide, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at home.

The Goshen native had worked with Riverside Nursing Home and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, George R.; a daughter, Cynda Clark of Fort Wayne; a sister, Jeane Bechtel of Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, William Hoover of Kokomo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Private services will be held. Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice.

Paul Zozulia
Fort Wayne

Paul Zozulia, 81, of Fort Wayne, who enjoyed classical music and reading, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at home.

The Albion, Mich., native retired in 1983 from Dana Corp. after 35 years of service. He had worked as a toolmaker in the toolroom and as a general foreman. He was a member of Dana Quarter Century Club, Concordia Lutheran Church and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran with the rank of captain.

Surviving are sons Paul W. of New Haven and Mark A. of Naperville, Ill.; daughters Sandra C. Zozulia of Fort Wayne and Deborah C. Herrman of Princeton, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy Zukausky of Glen Ellen, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther G., and a brother.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave., with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Fort Custer National cemetery, Augusta, Mich.

Memorials are to the church or the American Heart Association.

Leon "Bud" Hanley
Fort Wayne — 1935-2000

Leon "Bud" Hanley, 65, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Shelby and Roselawn, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at home.

The Lake Village native had worked for LTV Steel of East Chicago for 30 years as an electrician. He had served in the Indiana National Guard and was a 25-year member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; sons Don and Dale, both of Fort Wayne; brothers Albert of Lake Village and Clarence of Fair Oaks; sisters Nellie Miller of Fair Oaks and Bonnie Gentry of Lexington, Ky.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Jackson Funeral Chapel, 250 N. McKinley St., Rensselaer, with calling from 1 p.m. until services. Burial will be at Fair Oaks cemetery, Fair Oaks.

Memorials are to the Parkview Hospice, Fort Wayne Hospice or Cancer Services of Allen County.

John L. McArdle
Fort Wayne — 1912-2000

John L. McArdle, 87, of Fort Wayne, a member of the Knights of Columbus, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at home.

The Fort Wayne native retired in 1980 from McArdle-Fox Parking Garage as the manager and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Surviving are daughters Katey Hinsch and Carol McArdle, both of Fort Wayne; sons Steve and Michael, both of Fort Wayne, and John of Austin, Texas; sisters Joan Kelly of Fort Wayne and Marita Kelly of Wolcottville; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, and brothers Edward, James and Richard.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1100 S. Calhoun St., with calling a half hour before services. Calling is also from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with an 8:30 p.m. rosary service at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery.

Memorials are to Masses, Bishop Luers High School or Stauffer-Kimbrough Foundation.
