Charles Edward Minnick, 84, of Fort Wayne, a World War II Army veteran, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The Monroeville native was retired from the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center in maintenance.

Surviving are a daughter, Cecelia Drennan of Slidell, La.; a sister, Betty Becraft of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., with calling one hour before services. Burial with military graveside services by American Legion Post 241 will be at Lindenwood cemetery.

Jdee O. Whitener Jr.
Fort Wayne — 1946-2001

Jdee O. Whitener Jr., 54, of Fort Wayne, maintenance supervisor for the City-County Building, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Community Hospital in Anderson.

The Elkhart native had also worked at Riblet Products for 20 years and was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

Surviving are a sister, Nellie Whitener of Cleveland; and brothers Rochell of North Carolina and Mark of Ohio.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, with calling from 9:30 a.m. until services. Burial will be at Rice cemetery.

William J. Brutton
Fort Wayne

William J. Brutton, 74, of Fort Wayne, who retired in 1988 after 39 years as a manager with the Credit Bureau of Fort Wayne Inc., died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at home.

The Detroit native had belonged to The Chapel, Lions Club, Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 82. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Surviving are his wife, Midge; his mother, Lois L. Brutton of Fort Wayne; a son, Terry K. of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Barbara A. Ivan of Fort Wayne; stepdaughters Judy A. Gladieux of Fort Wayne and Martha Wine of Marion; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, where calling is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites provided by the American Legion post. Memorials are to The Chapel, Big Brothers/Big Sisters or Youth for Christ.

Henry L. Dehner
Fort Wayne — 1916-2001

Henry L. Dehner, 84, of Fort Wayne, who was a Navy veteran, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital.

The Decatur native had been general superintendent of John Dehner Inc., where he worked for 50 years. He belonged to St. Therese Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Purkiser of Fort Wayne; sisters Gene Dehner of Fort Wayne and Mary Baker of Decatur; and three grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, where calling begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials are to the church building fund.

Michael Ezell "Emoe" Stephens Sr.
Fort Wayne — 1947-2001

Michael Ezell "Emoe" Stephens Sr., 54, of Fort Wayne, formerly employed at Slater Steels, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at home.

The Fort Wayne native was a former member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, a graduate of Central High School, and his hobbies included washing his car and working on his computer. Surviving are a son, Telly S. of Fort Wayne; daughters Michelle L. Anderson and Sherry L. Stephens-Barnes, both of Fort Wayne; his mother, Rosetta Stephens of Fort Wayne; his companion, Glenda Buchanon of Fort Wayne; brothers Willard, Frederick A. Sr., Gregory L., Shelton B. I, and Curtis D. Sr., all of Fort Wayne; sisters Diana Scruggs, Peggy L. Williams, Sheila M. Jones, Gwendolyn Y. Poindexter, all of Fort Wayne, and Barbara Brown of Detroit; and eight grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1331 Gay St. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home, 1021 E. Lewis St. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery.

Ralph J. Hernandez, 38, of Fort Wayne, who had been a driver for Golden Rule for two years, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital. The Fort Wayne native is survived by his son, Ralph III of Fort Wayne; his mother, Clemma Hernandez of Fort Wayne; sisters, Darlene Lothamer of New Haven and Charlene Rhoades of Fort Wayne; two half- brothers; and a half-sister. His father, Ralph, preceded him in death. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, where calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials are to the family.

Larry D. Lovelace, 29, of Fort Wayne, who worked at Zollner Piston, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at home.

The Fort Wayne native is survived by his mother, Johnnie Mae Lovelace of Fort Wayne; his father, Larry Collins of Fort Wayne; a son, Dontaey Paige of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Jakii Lovelace of Fort Wayne; brothers Chris, Jermichael and Jermarlon Lovelace, all of Fort Wayne; a sister, Cheretta Douglas of West Point, Miss.; and his girlfriend, Leslie White. A brother, Broderick, preceded him in death. Services are noon Tuesday at Greater Progressive Baptist Church, 2215 John St., where calling is from 10 to noon. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Park.

Fort Wayne — 1922-2001

Robert E. Mosshammer Sr., 78, of Fort Wayne, who retired from General Electric after 42 years of work as a tool grinder, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Lutheran Hospital.

The Fort Wayne native was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who belonged to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post 82. Surviving are his wife, Barbara J.; sons Robert E. Jr. of Huntertown, James of Springfield, Ohio, and David of Churubusco; daughters Sandra Jean McCloud and Barbara Galligher, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Wilmer of Fort Wayne; a sister, Helen Waikel of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, where calling begins at noon. Calling also is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery. Memorials are to the church building fund or the Allen County Heart Association.

Betty J. Mourey, 75, of Fort Wayne, a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at home.

The St. Petersburg, Fla., native was a homemaker, a member of the Rosary Society and was formerly of Greenville, S.C. Surviving are sons John F. of Villa Rica, Ga., Ronald J., Dennis J., Dale R. and Darryl L., all of Fort Wayne, Larry R. of Zeeland, Mich., and Robert A. of Cecil, Ohio; daughters Carol A. Lahrman of New Haven, Joann M. Williams and Teresa K. Buschey, both of Fort Wayne, and Deanna L. Willibey of Leo-Cedarville; a brother, Dewey Jr. Stover of Greenville, S.C., sisters Margie M. Stover and Peggy Elliot, both of Greenville, S.C.; 26 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Prayer services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., precede services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary service at the funeral home. Burial will be at church cemetery. Memorials are to Southern Care Hospice or Masses.

Sarah G. Puff, 87, of Fort Wayne died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Byron Health Care Center.

The Irwin, Pa., native was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in Fort Wayne. Surviving are sons Roy Jr. and Melvin, both of Fort Wayne; daughters Edith Northup and Rita Freed, both of Fort Wayne, and Ruby Levernz of Arlington, Texas; brothers John and Fred Gongaware, both of Fort Wayne; sisters Joanne Barrand and Lillian Uetrecht, both of Fort Wayne, and Margaret Hilgeman of Muncie; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Roy Sr., preceded her in death. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., with calling from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials are to Byron Health Care Center.

Edna Webb, 76, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Fort Worth, Texas, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Regency Place. The Pony, Mont., native is survived by a son, Fred McQueen of Fort Wayne; daughters Peggy Bender of Fort Worth, Texas, Patsy Tinney of Prospect, Texas, and Jeri Mayes of Corsicana, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. There are no services or calling.

Wilmer H. Yeager, 97, of Fort Wayne, who was an engineer and surveyor and retired from Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. after more than 50 years of service, died Saturday, June 30, at Saint Anne Home. The Fort Wayne native was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Surviving are his daughter, Dorothy Connolly, of Phoenix, and 12 grandchildren. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Catholic cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave. Memorials are masses or gifts to Saint Anne Home.

Angelia R. Raysin, 61, of Fort Wayne, a member and elder of Faith United Church of Christ, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.

The Greenville, S.C., native worked for Union Federal for the past seven years, was retired from Sears and had taught Sunday school. Surviving are her husband, Kenton G.; a son, Kevin K. of Longview, Texas; a daughter, Lisa G. Ross of Martinsville; brothers Jack Campbell of Columbia, S.C., and Woody Campbell of Greenville, S.C.; sisters Clara Campbell and Joyce Davis, both of Greenville, S.C., and Ruth Warholak of Clarkston, Mich.; and four grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn cemetery, Greenwood. Memorials are to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
