Stephen Sonoff
MIDDLETOWN -- Stephen Sonoff, 56, Middletown, died April 4, 2001, at Middletown Nursing Center after an extended illness with cancer.
He was a certified public accountant. Following his retirement from his accounting practice, he founded and operated Sonoffo's Pizza Restaurant in Middletown.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Sonoff; daughter, Stefanie Sonoff; sister, Christine "Tinka" Sonoff; and a nephew, John Stinson.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ballard & Sons Funeral Home, Middletown Chapel, with the Rev. Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery in Anderson.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
Richard Fuller
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Richard "Uncle Buddy" Fuller died March 29, 2001.
He was employed by Wagnon Auto Parts and also owned and operated Fuller's Grocery for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Fuller; seven children, Robert (Robin) Fuller of Anderson, Luvina Leflore, Richard (Marie) Fuller Jr., Jimmie (Ella) Fuller, Evangelist Mary C. Fuller of Anderson, Babarba (Jessie) Fuller and Henry (Cheryl) Fuller; stepdaughter, Dorothy Holloway; brother, Howard (Ruthie) Fuller; three sisters, Rosie Dowell, Pauline Rollin and Francis Gray of Anderson; 40 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday at Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Robert Laster Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Madison cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Ross-Clayton Funeral Home.
Jim Creech
NEW CASTLE -- Jim Creech, 73, New Castle, died April 4, 2001, at his residence.
He was retired from General Motors.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn (husband, Mont) Hensley and Rita (husband, Chuck) Abney; and three grandchildren, Christina Hensley, Amber Hensley and Nikki Abney.
There will be no public services.
Arrangements are being handled by Marcum-Troxell Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Castle E.M.T. or St. John's Hospice of Anderson through the funeral home.
Frances I. Ringer
FORTVILLE -- Frances I. (Dorsey) Ringer, 82, formerly of Fishers, died April 6, 2001, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, John W. (wife, Denise) Ringer and Steven R. (wife, Pat) Ringer; a daughter, Jackie S. (husband, Jack) Harper; two brothers, Lloyd Dorsey and Tom Rogers; two sisters, June McFarland and Jewel Walker; a foster child, Eugene Cooper; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fishers United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Mike Reed and her grandson, Pastor Jason Harper. Burial will be in Highland cemetery, Fishers.
Visitation hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fishers United Methodist Church.
Kaitlyn N. Fullen
Our little angel, Kaitlyn Nicole Fullen, age 16 months, of Anderson, died April 6, 2001, at her residence due to injuries sustained at birth.
She was born Dec. 8, 1999, in Anderson, the daughter of Jason S. and Jennifer (Burton) Fullen of Anderson.
Survivors include her parents; her paternal grandparents, Aurthur Eugene and Ethel Faye Fullen of Anderson; her maternal grandparents, Charles "Chuck" and Tomya Burton of Anderson; great-grandparents, Tom and Darlene Sheets and Betty (Burton) Kelly all of Anderson; three aunts, Angie Fullen (and friend, Rick Wilson) of Iowa, Robin Burton (and friend, Shane Cullen) of Anderson and Lori (husband, Sean) Lakes of Iowa; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two uncles, James Fullen and Aaron Fullen; and great-grandparents, Lewis and Virginia Brown, Ernest and Martha Fullen, Jerry Burton and William Kelly.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, North Chapel, 6061 State Road 9 North, Alexandria, officiated by the Rev. Jim Harrison. Burial will be in East Maplewood cemetery, Anderson.
Calling hours are 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the North Chapel.

Crystal L. Robbins
GREENFIELD -- Crystal L. Robbins, 89, died April 6, 2001, at Regency Place Convalescent Center in Greenfield.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fortville Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Erwin Robbins and Robert Robbins; a daughter, Gayle Davis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gravel Lawn cemetery, north of Fortville, officiated by the Rev. Pat Mooney.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pasco Memorial Mortuary, 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield.
Betty M. Kendall
PENDLETON -- Betty M. (McCoy) Kendall, 71, Pendleton, died April 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Jackson County, Ind., and lived in the Anderson-Pendleton area most of her life. She retired on March 1, 1988, from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 11 years of employment.
She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 663. She was active in Boy Scouts and the Pendleton Little League.
Survivors include three sons, Paul (wife, Neica) Kendall of Pendleton, Gary (wife, Angie) Kendall of Anderson and Dallas (wife, Jeanie) Kendall of Pendleton; brother, Charles McCoy of Anderson; sister, Mae Swift of Alabama; seven grandchildren, Josh Kendall, Kevin Kendall, Kory Kendall, Jordan Kendall, Samantha Kendall, Tiffenie Kendall and Lea Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are special friends, Bob and Nadine Lasley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kendall, Nov. 1, 1999; parents, Albert and Lucy (Fleenor) McCoy; and 10 brothers and sisters.
There will be no services. Cremation will take place.
Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson.

Carolyn M. Retherford, 77, Anderson, died April 4, 2001, in Dade City, Fla.

Ralph S. Jack
ELWOOD -- Ralph S. Jack, 83, Elwood, died April 5, 2001, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Elwood, and lived in the Elwood community all of his life. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson.
He was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson and a graduate of Frankton High School. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Madonna (Riegel) Jack of Elwood, whom he married
May 11, 1984; daughter, Jone Jack of Frankton; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Delong of Atlanta; stepson, Bill Walsh of Windfall; brother, Allen Jack of Elwood; two sisters, Ruth Musick and Jean Bradley, both of Elwood; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armel and Shirley (Driscol) Jack; and a brother, Wayne Jack.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bell of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson and family member, Harold Twellman, officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian church Building Fund.
Philip Stiefler
Philip Stiefler, 87, Anderson, died April 4, 2001, at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born March 1, 1914, in Omaha, Neb., and moved to Anderson in 1927 from St. Louis, Mo. He retired in 1982 as an architect from Arthur B. Henning Architects in Anderson after 28 years of employment.
He was a member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. He was a 1932 graduate of Anderson High School. He attended Ball Sate University and graduated from the University of Cincinnati.
He was a member of the Monument Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, Rotary Club and the YMCA Board. He was a member of the Edgewood Town Board and a 50-year member of the B'nai Brith, where he held many offices.
Survivors include a sister, Frances S. Stiefler of Anderson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Stiefler of Marion; and a nephew, Norman Stiefler of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida E. (Horwich) Stiefler; and a brother, David N. Stiefler in 1989.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the South Chapel.
Chris A. Cookman
JESUP, Ga. -- Former Anderson resident Chris A. Cookman, 40, Jesup, died April 3, 2001, at his residence of heart failure.
He was born Nov. 8, 1960, in Anderson, and moved to Georgia from Anderson two years ago. He had worked in the RV industry.
He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Cookman of Crawfordsville; mother, Mary Cookman of Fenton, Mich.; father, Roger (wife, Karen) Cookman of Anderson; sister, Connie (husband, Steven) Moore of Huntington; two brothers, Dirk Cookman of Big Rapids, Mich., and Quintin (wife, Angie) Cookman of Pendleton; grandmother, Ruth Vardaman of Anderson; two stepbrothers, Andrew McBride of Alexandria and Brian McBride of Indianapolis; two uncles, James (wife, Lola) Vardaman and Samuel (wife, Judy) Vardaman; aunt, Kathern Vardaman; great-aunt, Dorothy Cookman; seven nieces and nephews, Steven Moore Jr., Rachel Moore, Dustin Cookman, Joshua Cookman, Mathew Cookman, Shazalynne McBride and Jarrett Weinsteine.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel Vardaman, and Ray and Lillian Cookman; brother, Eric Stephen Cookman; and two uncles, Donald Cookman and Richard Cookman.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Norville of Fall Creek Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the South Chapel.

Daniel L. Wittebort
Daniel L. Wittebort, 84, Anderson, died April 4, 2001, at Americare Living Center after an extended illness.
He was born May 13, 1916, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors with more than 30 years of employment.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving from Sept. 20, 1943 until he was honorably discharged Nov. 16, 1945. He was a member of the Ovid Masonic Lodge F&AM; 164 and United Auto Workers Local 662.
Survivors include a son, Gerry (wife, Debbie) Wittebort of Anderson; a daughter, Judi (husband, Jonesy) Jones of Toledo, Ohio; stepdaughter, Janet (husband, Tim) Mattingly of Anderson; sister, June Hopkins of Anderson; half sister, Donna May Leavell of Elwood; two half brothers, Larry Gene Wittebort and Jerry Wittebort, both of Elwood; five grandchildren, Greg, Merri, Ty, Bob and Kevin; two great-grandchildren, Brittney and Xavier; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (McKinley) Wittebort; second wife, Helen (Walker) Wittebort; son, Ronnie Wittebort; sister, Maxine Shetterly; and half brother, Clayton Wittebort.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Sonnen officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266.
