Jimmy Losey
(Died May 30, 2011)

U.S. Veteran
Jimmy D. Losey, 80, of Anderson, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2011, peacefully at home after an extended illness.

He was born October 7, 1930 in Anderson and was a lifelong Anderson resident. In 1987, he retired from General Motors.

Jimmy was an avid golfer and long term member of Idlewold Golf and Country Club. He was a Korean War Veteran where he was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S.Air Force from 1950-1954.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Dan (Tonya) Losey of Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Dana (Mark) Bolander of Anderson and Becky Lewis of Pendleton; grandchildren, Shane Bolander, Matt (Rachael) Bolander, Jamie (Donald) Conrad, Jake Lewis, Samantha Lewis and Cody Lewis; great grandchildren, Savannah Bolander, Donald Lee Conrad, III and William Conrad.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Losey whom he married December 28, 1950; parents, Floyd “Bud” and Catherine “Kay” Losey; brother, Billy Losey.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Bessie Georgia Wright
(February 22, 1923 - May 22, 2011)

Bessie Georgia Wright, 88, of Anderson, passed away May 22, 2011 at her granddaughter’s residence after an extended illness.

She was born February 22, 1923 in Anderson, the daughter of Benjamin and Minnie (Gustin) Kennon. She lived in Anderson all of her life and was a homemaker.

Bessie was a member of Memorial Circle Wesleyan Church; Brotherhood & Sisterhood; AARP; and Jolly Keenagers.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Lowers of Anderson; sons, Dorman (Keiko) Wright of North Manchester and Thomas Wright of Anderson; grandchildren, Kelly Eads, Tina Marie (Ronald) Swallows, Amy (Jeff) Greenwalt, Carrie (Richard) Bauer, Rebecca (Kyle) Kaddinger, David Wright, Maria (Ben) Sheppard, Lori (Patrick) Baker, Thomas Wright and Karen Wright; great grandchildren, Jacob, Holly, Tylor (Brittanie), Christina (Josh), McKenzie, Madison, Makenna, Coleton, Corbin, Kendra, Gage, Kobe, Aiden, Gabrielle and Alexis; great-great grandchildren, Rylie, Emma, Natalie, Carisma and Caleb; sisters, Ruby McVey of Butlerville and Ruth Hamilton of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman Wright; son, Benjamin Wright; grandson, Johnny Scott Sandefur; sister, Cecil Pine; and brothers, Fred Pine, Jasper Pine and Harvey Pine.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Clifton Ashlock officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Walk cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Jerry K. "Shakey" McMullen
(March 28, 1942 - May 24, 2011)

Jerry Keith “Shakey” McMullen, 69, passed away at home on May 24, 2011 after an extended illness.

He was born March 28, 1942, the son of James and Lucille (Ritchie) McMullen. He was raised in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School in 1961 and retired from Delco Remy after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Becky (Walters) McMullen; mother-in-law, Kate Knobloch; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Greg and Shelia Walters, Pam and Doug Hagan, Steve and Deb Walters, Tim and Jody Walters, Nancy and Dennis Carpenter, Paula Fair, Jeff Knobloch and Suzanne Stephens, Tony Knobloch and Karen Roberts; nieces and nephews, Kyle and Sheiletha Quinn, Gregory and Cara Walters, Brent and Jeni Hagan, Jeremiah and Monica Walters, Angie Walters, Melissa Carpenter and Kyle Bertram, Jacinda Walters, Angie and Jimmy Wire, Brian Fair, Jake Knobloch; great nieces and nephews, Tre, Leigha, Savannah, Katelynn, Emma, Ian, Austin, Tori, Lidia and Bryant; special caregiver, Fay Knobloch Burmeister and a special friend Steve Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Eugene Knobloch.

The family would like to Thank the St. John’s Hospice for all their care and concerns.

Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Boicourt officiating. Burial will be in Bronnenberg cemetery in Chesterfield.

Friends may call from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Hospice.

Deanna Denise Tinch
(August 18, 1968 - May 19, 2011)

Deanna Denise Tinch, 42, of Anderson, passed away May 19, 2011 at her residence.

She was born August 18, 1968 in Anderson. She had lived in Anderson and Elwood and graduated from Elwood High School.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Patricia and Eddy Ridge of Anderson; father and stepmother, Harlan and Nancy Tinch of Hanging Limb, TN; son, Gavin Lee Carr of Anderson; sister, Mandy Chesser of Anderson; and brothers, David Tinch of Crawford, TN, Dustin Tinch of Hanging Limb, TN, Joshua Ridge of Greencastle, Daniel Ridge of Noblesville, Joseph Ridge of Sheridan, Jeffrey Ridge and Brandon Ridge, both of Noblesville; and special friend, Gary Spearman.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lawton Tinch; grandmother, Grace Tinch in 1996; grandmother, Althea Huston in 1975; grandfather, Earl Huston in 1981; and great grandmother, Betty Myers in 1980.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. Burial will be at Park View cemetery in Alexandria.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Robin Kimiko Tout
(November 28, 1962 - May 16, 2011)

Robin Kimiko Okamoto Tout, 48, passed away May 16, 2011, after fighting a brave battle against cancer, leaving her children, Nabria Kinney (wife, Rebekah Kinney), Matthew Harris and Mijana Harris. She was also survived by Harold White, Jerry Tout and her sisters, Charlotte Clay and Debra Holiday. She also had many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Susumu Okamoto II, Joseph White, Frank White and her sister, Verdina McKillip.

She was born in El Monte, California, November 28th, to the late Gary Susumu Okamoto and L. Janiece White.

“Kimi” graduated from Anderson High School in 1980 and resided in Anderson for most of her life. She enjoyed painting, poetry, ice skating, singing, dancing and celebrating her Japanese heritage. She loved foreign films, the Olympics, her bulldog Maxwell, cooking, horse racing and making the best out of life. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, loyalty and strength.

She managed an apartment complex here in town and worked as a leasing agent for several years.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” at her residence on Thursday, May 19th at 4 p.m.

The family would like to thank all the people who have helped us during this time. We are so very grateful for your love and support.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Her final resting place will be in East Maplewood cemetery.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.

Neil V. Gavin
(May 31, 1943 - May 16, 2011)

Neil V. Gavin, 67, of Anderson, passed away May 16, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born May 31, 1943 in Anderson and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School until his junior year and then graduated from Madison Heights High School Class of 1961.

He retired in 1999 from Delco Remy and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Neil, best known as “Gabby”, was an avid baseball fan and was a dedicated coach for his daughters who played softball. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joanna (Conner) Gavin of Anderson; five daughters, Cindy (husband, Brad) Shannon of Carmel, Theresa Gavin and Malea Gavin, both of Anderson, Lou (husband, Tony) Addington of Muncie and Heather (husband, Mark) Anderson of Fishers; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan and Brandon Shannon, Connor Johnson, Alyssa Gavin, Drake and Callie Anderson; sister, Nancy (husband, John) Shrewsbury of WV; mother-in-law, Alma Conner of Anderson; sister-in-law, Marjorie (husband, Bill) Massey of Anderson; brother-in-law, Randy Conner of Anderson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret (Turner) Gavin; brothers, Max Gavin and David Gavin; and father-in-law, John E. Conner.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mares, Brandon Aiman and the nursing and hospice staff at St. John’s Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.

Alvin W. Burton
(October 28, 1936 - May 13, 2011)

Alvin W. Burton, 74, of Markleville, passed away May 13, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center.

He was born October 28, 1936 in Edinburgh, IN.

He had lived in Markleville and Madison County area for the past 50 years.

He worked as a route man for Davis Dairy for 25 years and worked for the last 20 years as the owner and operator for Roberts Express & Tri-State Trucking.

He was a loving father and husband. He was very devoted to his family and his precious little yorkie, Dolly Dean.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elois Dean (Stone) Burton; three daughters, Tina (husband, Kevin) Nichols of Daleville, Vickie (husband, Karl) Owens of Marion and Kim (husband, Phil) Poole of Brownsburg; son, Jeff (wife, Christina) Burton of Middletown; 11 grandchildren, Scott (wife, Ayda) Nichols, Angela (husband, Torrey) Mullins, Alisa (husband Brock) Glaze, Karla, Krystal and Karman Owens, Ashleigh and Brandon Burton, Amanda (husband, Chad) Gibbins, Nathan Poole and Allyson Poole; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Huju; a special niece, Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Pearl Burton; sister, Pauline Davis; brother, Hershel Burton; and great grandson, Braydon Gibbins.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Park cemetery with Rev. Amos Carmichael officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

R. Michael Gustin
(June 14, 1950 - May 14, 2011)

R. Michael Gustin, 60, Markleville, passed away May 14, 2011, at St. John’s Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was born June 14, 1950, in Anderson, graduated from Markleville High School in 1968 and Anderson College in 1972. Mike worked 31 years at Guide Lamp and retired in 2008 from General Motors MFD Marion Plant. He also worked part-time for Indiana Auto Exchange. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church, Markleville Masonic Lodge and was a life member of Fall Creek Valley Gun Club.

He survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Wilhoit Gustin of Markleville; two sons, Joseph Michael Gustin of Pendleton and Nicholas (wife-Ashley) Gustin of Bloomington; one daughter, Katie (husband-Woody) Fesler of Pendleton and one granddaughter, Emma Fesler; his mother, Sally Gustin of Markleville; one brother, Rick (wife-Nancy) Gustin of Belfast, TN; three sisters, Debbie (husband-Grant) Griner of Anderson, Dianna Gustin-Cole of Mishawaka and Darlene (husband-Kevin) Coverdale of Markleville. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Ann Wilhoit of Anderson; one Brother-in-law, Cliff Wilhoit and fiancé Vera; three sister-in-laws, Gayle Johnson, Valerie (husband-Bill) Spurlin, Katie Wilhoit and several nieces and nephews; his special friends, Tom Heath, Ted Heath, Barry Dillard, Bill King and “Chip’ the dog.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ralph L. Gustin; father-in-law, Calvin Wilhoit; a brother-in-law, Brian Wilhoit and his niece, Chrissy Payne.

A special Thank You, to the staff of Bennett Rehabilitation Center and St. John’s Hospital 3 South.

Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry or Madison County Humane Society.

Norman Franklin Delph
(July 17, 1939 - May 11, 2011)

Norman Franklin Delph, 71, died May 11, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital from a sudden illness.

He was born in Richmond, IN on July 17, 1939 to Meredyth and Helen (Franklin) Delph. Norman graduated from Anderson High School in 1958. He was an Indiana All-Star and went to Tulane University in New Orleans, LA on a basketball scholarship. He received his BBA in 1962 and MBA in 1963 from Tulane. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Virginia Gary on August 29, 1959.

Norman was employed in the sales department at Fisher Guide and retired after 29 years of service in 1992.

He was a member of Bethany Christian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed golfing, fishing and bird watching.

Norman leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Virginia Delph of Pendleton; two sons, Norman II of Anderson and Gary (Amy) of Pendleton; daughter, Lisa (Chuck) Findley of Pendleton; grandsons, Aaron, Evan and Adam Delph; two brothers, Bob (Jan) and Randy (Rose) Delph, all of Anderson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Delph of Sarasota, FL; two uncles, Glen (Donna) Franklin of Daleville and Leland (Delores) Franklin of Anderson; aunt, Jamalee Breeding of Bradenton, FL; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Neil Kent Delph in December 2010.

Special appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and Chaplains at St. John’s Hospital and Pendleton EMT’s. He had outstanding care and they were all so kind.

Celebration of life services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Christian Church, 1920 North Rangeline Road, Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the celebration of life services at Bethany Christian Church. The Rev. Larry Kineman and Kent Stookey will officiate, assisted by Jay Harvey.

Services were entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethany Christian Church, Pendleton Fire Department, EMT’s and the ICU at St. John’s Health System, 2015 Jackson Street, Anderson, IN 46016.
