Survivors include his wife, Janet (Moryl); a son, Douglas J. of Wheeling, Ill.; a sister, Helen Szilagyi of Mill Creek; and a brother, Walter of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Adalbert's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
Macy L. Stevens

SOUTH BEND - - Macy Lee Stevens, 73, of North Illinois St., died Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Survivors include five daughters, Josephine Grove, Lue Bertha Buckingham, Christine Washington, Geneva Jackson and Catherine Harris, all of South Bend; a son, Eddie J. of South Bend; and a sister, Annie Lou Jones of Kalamazoo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Alford's Mortuary.
Joel B. Taylor

OSCEOLA - Joel Brian Taylor, 53, of White Street, died Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary (Beasley); two sons, Chad Beasley and Steven Taylor, both of Osceola; two sisters, Corrine Stanley and Eloise Bates, both of Elkhart; and three brothers, Pat of Elkhart, Terry of Osceola and Ronnie of Goshen. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Rose Mary Brown

Rose Mary Brown, 83, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 6:38 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
She was born on July 15, 1915, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Magdelene E. (Denk) and Aloysius Woerdeman, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 19, 1941, in Indianapolis, as Rose Mary Woerdeman, she married
Donald E. Brown, who also preceded her in death in November 1977.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Judy A. Ganser of South Bend, and by three sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Brown was the eldest of eleven children, and was a retired pharmacist assistant for Tuesley's Pharmacy, South Bend.
There will be no services or visitation for Mrs. Brown. The body has been donated to the Indiana University Anatomical Education Program in Indianapolis. Burial will be at a later date in Bunnell cemetery, Frankfort, Ind.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 404 Columbia Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
George J. Cottrell

George J. Cottrell, 76, of 15873 Meadowview Drive, Buchanan, Mich., died mid - morning on Thursday, Dec. 10, at Teresa's Country Home in Berrien Springs, Mich.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, in Knight Chapel, Oak Ridge cemetery, Buchanan.
Family will receive visitors in Knight Chapel one hour prior to services. Rev. Scott Goodman will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Buchanan American Legion, Ralph Rumbaugh Post #51.
Mr. Cottrell was born in Shelburn, Ind., on Aug. 5, 1922.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma J. (Flanagan); and a son, Robert L. (Linda) Cottrell of Niles, Mich.
George was a member of the American Legion, Ralph Rumbaugh Post #51, Buchanan, and was a former member of the Buchanan Moose Lodge. Discharged as a captain, he served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II as a bombardier, stationed in England.
After attending Valpo Tech he was employed as an electrical engineer by the Bendix Corporation at both the Mishawaka and South Bend plants, retiring in 1984.
George enjoyed golf, fishing and radio/TV repair as hobbies, and also volunteered as a "Little League Dad" during his son's youth. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
Paul B. Kinzie

Paul B. Kinzie, 80, passed away after a brief illness at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 1, 1918, in South Bend, Ind., to Earl and Edna (Byers) Kinzie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by three brothers, Harold, Owen and Lee Kinzie.
Mr. Kinzie retired from Sibley Machine and Foundry after 43 years of service. He was a graduate of Riley High School, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local #183.
He is survived by a daughter, Jo Anne Ewing of Naples, Fla.; two sons, James D. Kinzie of Port Angeles, Wash., and Ronald W. Kinzie of South Bend; and by five grandchildren and one great - granddaughter.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.
Friends may call two hours prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery.
Evelyn E. Silber
March 12, 1931 - Dec. 9, 1998
Mrs. Evelyn E. Silber, 67, of White Oak Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in St. Augustine, Fla.
She was born on March 12, 1931, in Goshen, Ind., to Gladys and Ernest Hill, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Silber.
Mrs. Silber is survived by her daughters, Penny Harmon of Glendale, Ariz., Janice Silber Ronningen of St. Augustine, Fla., Evelyn Silber of Niles, Mich., and Dawn Mead of Berrien Springs, Mich.; a son, Randy Silber of Laveen, Ariz.; sisters, Yvonne Mahan of South Bend, Ind., Bonnie Richardson of Mishawaka and Sandy Decker of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Ronald Hill of South Bend; and by 16 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.
Mrs. Silber had worked at Notre Dame University for a number of years, and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Ind.
Funeral services for Mrs. Silber will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road in Granger, with Rev. Peter Jarrett, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.

SAWYER - Fred C. Arviett, 70, of California Road, died Thursday in the Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph. Survivors include his wife Sally; four daughters, Betty German of Three Oaks, Katherine Brewster of Buchanan, Donna Marko of Stevensville and Mary Arivett of Sawyer; four sons, Billy of Coloma, Jesse of Bridgman, and Fred and Tony, both of Sawyer; four sisters, Edna Snyder of Leonard, Ark., Mary Presley of Niles, Joan Ferguson of Davison, Mich., and Cora Oshorne of Slidell, La.; and two brothers, George Young of Flint, Mich., and Jake Arivett of Benton Harbor.
