Funeral services for Verna Irene Bryant Buchanan, 94, of Scottsburg, were held Saturday, Oct. 26 at Stewart Funeral Home, Scottsburg, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Washington County. She died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Bryant, Salem and Lloyd Bryant, Euless, Texas; a daughter, Doris Hall, Scottsburg; three sisters, Dorothy Smith and Ruth Nicholson, Scottsburg and Helen Wise, Nabb; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday at the funeral home.
Ambrose Jackson Carter
age 99; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Ambrose Jackson Carter, 99, of Clarksville, formerly of Louisville, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville. He died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Hallmark Progressive Care Center, Clarksville.
He was a native of Tyrone, Ky., a retired hotel manager for Berkeley Hotel, a veteran of World War II, a former member of St. Matthews Methodist Church and a member of Salem United Church of Christ and Masonic Abraham Lodge 8.
Survivors include a son, A. J. "Rick" Carter; friends, including Cathy Hume, James Hancock, Gloria Gore and Bill Dyer and the staff of Hallmark Progressive Care Center.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Lewis J. Harbison
age 76; of New Albany
Funeral services for Lewis "Sammy" J. Harbison, 76, of New Albany, were held at 10 a.m. this morning Monday, Oct. 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Post Office, having worked at the New Albany Post Office for 36 years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Albany.
Survivors include his wife, LaVon Darneal Harbison; two sons, Pat Harbison and his wife, Kristin, Bloomington and Tim Harbison and his wife, Michelle, Floyds Knobs; and four grandchildren, Bill and Alissa Harbison, Bloomington and Sam and Marah Harbison, Floyds Knobs.
Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary Lou Manger
age 61; of Floyd Knobs
Funeral services for Mary Lou Manger, 61, of Floyds Knobs, formerly of Louisville, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 5431 Johnsontown Rd., Louisville, with cremation to follow. She died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.
She was a native of Grayson County, Ky, the former Mary Lou Higdon, a retired owner and operator of Elite Coiffeurers and was previously employed by Southern Indiana Rehab. She was a former member of St. Clement Catholic Church and attended Mt. St. Francis of Indiana.
Survivors include her husband, Frank P. Manger Jr.; a daughter, Kim Tharp-Barrie and her husband, Jon; two sons, Kelly Ward and Frank R. Manger and his wife, Cathy; a brother, Patrick Higdon; a sister, Kathy Gaus; and five grandchildren, Kaycee, Katie, Brian, Will and Drew.
Visitation at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

James C. Miller
age 77; Speed Cement Plant retiree
Funeral services for James C. Miller, 77, of Clarksville, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Mifflin, a retired employee of the old Speed Cement Plant where he worked for 33 years and was a member of Eastside Christian Church, Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eunice Dixon; a brother, Bill Miller, Pinellas Park, Fla.; and three sisters, Maxine Courte, Cape Coral, Fla., Jeanie Tyler, New Albany and Martha Blevins, Indianapolis.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 28.

David F. Seiferid
age 82; WW II veteran
Funeral services for David F. Seiferid, 82, of Georgetown, were held at 10 a.m. this morning, Monday, Oct. 28, at Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, New Albany, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville. He died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Green Valley Care Center, New Albany.
He was a native of Louisville, retired from Fawcett-Haynes, Louisville and Color World in Ill. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Bonnie Sloan Post of the American Legion, New Albany and was also a member of the Masonic Order.
Survivors include a son, David M. Seiferid, New Albany; a brother, Frank Seiferid, Louisville; two sisters, Betty J. McCracken and Katherine Nugent, Louisville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home.

age 67; of New Albany
Funeral services for Shirley Ann Simmons, 67, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Evans Landing Cemetery, Evans Landing, Ind. She died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
She was a native and former resident of Elizabeth, was the former Shirley Ann Ward and was the widow of George L. Simmons. She was a retired employee of Ceasars Indiana and was a member of Graceland Baptist Church.
Survivors include a friend, Richard J. Burger, Clarksville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, Clifton J. Ward, mother, Mildred F. Ward Walton and a brother, Donald Ward.
Visitation at the funeral home will be noon to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 28 , and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

age 56; Jeffboat employee
Funeral services for Terry Lee Shea, 56, of Louisville, formerly of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at St. Phillip Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, with entombment to follow. He died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
He was a machine operator for Jeffboat, Inc. and a member of Parkland Masonic Lodge. He was an Army veteran and a former resident of Jeffersonville.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Reisinger and Amber Shea; his mother, Edna Shea; a sister, Phyllis Shea; twin brother, Jerry Shea and two grandchildren.
Visitation at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 1201 E. Oak St., Louisville, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 28.
Paul Eugene Spencer
age 95; Charlestown native
Funeral services for Paul Eugene Spencer, 95, of Charlestown, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Old Salem Cemetery, Charlestown. He died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Charlestown, a former resident of Chandler and an auto worker having worked for the Chrysler Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri and Evansville. He was a member of the Chandler Church of the Nazarene, United Auto Workers Union and past president of the Chandler Holiness Camp.
Survivors include two foster sons, Andrew Stewart, Chandler and Allen Stewart, Evansville; a daughter-in-law, Anna Spencer, Charlestown; foster daughter, Jane Casey, Morganstown, Ky.; two grandsons, John Spencer, Charlestown and George B. Spencer, Brooksburg and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Carolyn Spencer, a son, Franklin Lee Spencer and a foster son, Norman Lauderdale.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening, Monday, Oct. 28 and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Dorothy K. Vorgang
age 79; retired teacher
Funeral services for Dorothy K. Vorgang, 79, of Jeffersonville, were be held at 1 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 28, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Jeffersonville.
She was a retired teacher for the Greater Clark School System and a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph M. Vorgang Jr.; three daughters, Kathryn A. Whitson, Indianapolis, Marian J. Vorgang-Forney, Bloomington and Barbara S. Vorgang, Jeffersonville; two sisters, Mary Jane Suhre, Batesville and Ellen M. Wismann, Sun City Center, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday and after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
