OSCEOLA - Randi Elizabeth Shaff, 50, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Osceola, died of cancer Thursday in the University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor. Survivors include her parents, Lucille (Hawley) and Emmore Dent of Galesburg, Mich.; a daughter, Emilie Shaff of Kalamazoo; two sons, Edgar D. and Jacob W., both of Osceola; three sisters, Irene Livingston and Rosemary Norwood, both of Kalamazoo, and Christine Saddler of West Olive, Mich.; and two brothers, John Dent of Seattle and David Dent of Garden City, Mich. Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday in the the Betzler Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and one hour before services Monday.

BERRIEN SPRINGS - Kenneth Wetzel, 83, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Berrien Springs, died Wednesday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, of natural causes. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Million of Pensacola, Mary Wetzel of Norcross, Ga., and Nadine Wetzel of St. Cloud, Minn.; four sons, Richard of Plattville, Wis., Lloyd of Gray Court, S.C., Jack of Cochabama, Bolivia, and Buck of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; three sisters, Mabel Galko of Stevensville, Mildred Hartline of Baroda and Susie Rick of Dowagiac; and a brother, Alvin of Tucson, Ariz. SOUTH BEND - Robert A. Yoder, 66, of Lincoln Way East, died of natural causes Tuesday in his home. Survivors include a son, Robert M. of Dunwoody, Ga.; two sisters, Elaine Pipke of South Bend and Joyce Elake of Florida; three brothers, Gene, Tom and Jimmy, all of South Bend; and a half brother, John Woods of Indiana. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, where friends may call just prior to time of service.
Samuel E. Arnett
April 4, 1919 - Dec. 3, 1998
Samuel Emerson Arnett, 79, of Miami Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, in Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 4, 1919, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to Charles and Maude (Pierce) Arnett. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Rosco Arnett.
On Oct. 25, 1953, in Springfield, Ohio, he married
Eve Andreoff, who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Eric (Michele) of Columbus, Ind., and Brian of South Bend; granddaughters, Mary Kathleen and Camille, both of Columbus, Ind.; four sisters, Vesta (Mrs. Fred) Hill of Franklin, Ind., Viola (Mrs. Edwin) Yingst of Covington, Ohio, Betty (Mrs. William) Hare of Mt. Morris, Ill., and Bernice (Mrs. Bobby) Jones of Mesa, Ariz.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arnett was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of VFW Post #1167, a life member of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, and was a member of the South Bend Audubon Society.
He served in the Army Air Corps, 22nd Fighter Squadron, during World War II in the European Theatre, from 1941 to 1945. Sam graduated from Ohio State University in 1950 with membership in Tau Beta Pi (life member), Engineering Honorary, and Pi Tau Sigma, Mechanical Engineering Honorary.
He was employed at Bendix Fuel Controls (now Energy Controls of Allied Signal) from 1953, for the most part, until his retirement in 1984. During his years he was the holder of numerous patents involving controls of jet engines.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, in the Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Delores E. Cooper

Delores E. Cooper, 78, formerly of Liberty Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 5:05 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, in the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, Ind.
She was born in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 28, 1920, and had lived in this area most of her life. She had worked as a waitress in restaurants in the area for many years.
Delores married
Lawrence McDaniel, who preceded her in death. She then married
Norman Cooper, who also preceded her in death, along with her brother, Raymond Gillion.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her six daughters, Pat Jayme, Sharon Dusenberry, Sandy Grant, Billie Erlandson and Cheryl Sandefur, all of Mishawaka, and Beverly Arnold of South Bend; a son, Larry McDaniel of Hanford, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 24 great - grandchildren; and by her sister, May Lou Timmons of Worthington, Ind.
There will be no services or visitation. Burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The Bubb Funeral Chapel North is handling arrangements.
Mira Dobrovic
June 3, 1938 - Dec. 1, 1998
Mira Dobrovic, 60, of Independence Drive, Hudson, Ohio, formerly of South Bend, Ind., died at 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the Laurel Lake - Crown Center Nursing Home, Hudson, Ohio.
She was born in Daruvar, Croatia, on June 3, 1938, to Mijo and Elizabeta (Sviber) Juras, who preceded her in death. Mira moved to this country in 1967. As Mira Juras, she married
Milenko Dobrovic in Daruvar, Croatia, on Jan. 10, 1960. He also preceded her in death.
Mira is survived by a son, Michael I. (Dianne) Dobrovic of Hudson, Ohio; two grandchildren, Michael T. Dobrovic and Erika D. Dobrovic; a sister, Nada Barisic of Croatia; and by a brother, Danko Juras of Croatia.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Chapel. Committal services will be held in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park cemetery Mausoleum, Granger, Ind., with Fr. Jose Martelli officiating. She was a member of St. Mary Parish in Hudson, Ohio.
Friends may call one hour prior to services in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind.
Robert Fulford
June 14, 1915 - Dec. 3, 1998
Robert Fulford, 83, of 123 N. Jefferson Street, Millersburg, Ind., was found on Thursday, Dec. 3, at his residence. He had been a resident there since 1984.
He was born on June 24, 1915, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Eustis and Eleanore (Seeley) Fulford. He retired from NB Skinner of South Bend in 1964.
He is survived by a daughter, Bonny Brennan of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two sons, Bradley and David Fulford, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Rieth - Rohrer - Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, Ind.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.
Gertrude E. Mossberg
March 20, 1898 - Dec. 3, 1998
Gertrude E. Mossberg, 100, died on Thursday, Dec. 4, in her home at 1404 Ridgedale Road, South Bend, Ind.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on March 20, 1898, to Johanna and Fred Van Dyke. The family grew to include four brothers, Edward, Peter, Clarence and Gilbert. Gertrude attended local schools, graduating from Kershaw Elementary and Englewood High School, and then took classes at the National Kindergarten College in Evanston, Ill.
On July 6, 1923, she married
a neighbor and longtime sweetheart, Herman T. Mossberg. In 1926 they moved to South Bend where he worked for Hardy and Sons Printing. In 1930 Herman started Mossberg and Company, a commercial printing firm, which is now located at 301 E. Sample Street.
Throughout her long life, Gertrude Mossberg was interested in family, home, garden, music, and her church. She taught Sunday School and regularly sang in the church choir. Attendance at South Bend Symphony concerts was a regular event through many years, as was going to P.E.O. meetings.
In 1945 she and Herman began correspondence with Frank Lloyd Wright, and then worked on the planning and building of their home, which Wright designed. Architects and Wright enthusiasts from around the world have, through the years, enjoyed tours of the home. Gertrude shared with visitors her memories of Mr. and Mrs. Wright, she and Herman's interest in Wright's architecture, and stories of the whole building process. Gertrude truly enjoyed her 47 years in the Wright home.
Family and friends, beginning on March 20 of this year, gathered for a three - day celebration of Gertrude's 100 years of joyful living. She relished her parties, each of the cakes, all of the guests, and especially the singing.
Gertrude leaves one daughter, Anne (Charles) Hillman of South Bend; five grandchildren, James (Jill) Hillman of South Bend, Mark Hillman of Elkhart, Ind., Jennifer Hillman (Mitch) Berger of Washington, D.C., Tom Hillman (Lou Ann) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Helen Hillman of Seattle, Wash.; and by nine great - grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Conor, Christopher, Clark, Leslie and Kristin Hillman, and Benjamin and Daniel Berger.
Gertrude requested that friends who wish, instead of flowers, may make donations to the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend, to the P.E.O. Chapter X, or to the South Bend Symphony.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today, and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Mossberg home, 1404 Ridgedale Road.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend.
Martha L. Beard Soellinger
May 19, 1916 - Dec. 2, 1998
Martha Lucile Beard Soellinger, 82, residing on Lincoln Way West, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:16 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital after becoming ill at her home.
She retired as librarian from the South Bend Community School Corporation, and had previously been employed with the South Bend Public Library. She was also employed as assistant to the vice - president of Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was born on May 19, 1916, in North Manchester, Ind., to the late Gorman B. and Lena L. (Loop) Grossnickle, and had lived in the South Bend community since 1937, coming from North Manchester.
On Oct. 28, 1939, in South Bend, as Martha Grossnickle, she married
Wayne E. Beard, who passed away on Dec. 28, 1965. Then on Nov. 18, 1967, in South Bend, she married
Aubert Soellinger, who passed away in 1992. She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Larry Soellinger of Elkhart, Ind.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Janeen and Thomas Kromkowski of South Bend, with whom Martha made her home, and Sandra and Richard Nowatka of Peru, Ill.; one son and his wife, Gary W. and Karen Beard of San Rafael, Calif.; a stepson and his wife, Patrick and Beverly Soellinger of Chicago, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and six great - grandchildren; and by three brothers, Dr. Edwin Grossnickle of Kalamazoo, Mich., Dr. Harry Grossnickle of Wabash, Ind., and Dr. Paul Grossnickle of Warsaw, Ind.
Mrs. Soellinger was a member of the Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at the South Bend Public Library, was a 17 - year member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of Quester's International. She was a graduate of Manchester College.
Services for Mrs. Soellinger will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Claude Joyner, pastor of the Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend.
