MISHAWAKA - Donnabelle Gesto, 85, of South Pine Street, died Sunday in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton. Survivors include a son, Stanley Jr. of New Carlisle. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hahn Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

William Goodman

Aug. 27, 1921 - Jan. 31, 1999

ROCHESTER - William "Bill" Goodman, 77, of Hobart, Ind., formerly of Rochester, died Sunday in St. Mary's Medical Center after an illness. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Higgin and Debra Goodman, both of Hobart; three sons, William D. of Hobart, Bruce of Indianapolis and Joseph of Rochester; two sisters, Jeanne Watson and Ruth South, both of Plymouth; and two brothers, Robert of Rochester and Richard of Fort Wayne. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday, and a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Matilda Grigsby

April 1, 1917 - Jan. 31, 1999

KNOX - Matilda Grigsby, 81, of 9860 E. County Road 50 South, died Sunday in her home of natural causes. Survivors include her husband Rebel; three daughters, Mary Noble of North Judson, Bitha Bickle and Patricia Ingersoll, both of Knox; and five sons, Arnold Miller of Vancleve, Ky., Willie Miller of Campton, Ky., Karue Miller of Knox, Stanley Grigsby of Grovertown, Ind., and Wallace Grigsby of Chicago. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the M.C. Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Dorothy M. Harris

Nov. 25, 1916 - Feb. 1, 1999

LAPORTE - Dorothy M. Harris, 82, of 91 Keston Elm Drive, died Monday in LaPorte Hospital of natural causes. Survivors include her husband James; a daughter, Martha Ann Goebel of Godfrey, Ill.; a son, David of Lakeville; a sister, Elenore Tannenbaum of LaJolla, Calif.; and a brother, Richard Wyczawski of Denver. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Cutler Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday.

Suzanne M. Henderlong

April 5, 1905 - Jan. 30, 1999

LAPORTE - Suzanne M. Henderlong, 93, of 514 Park St., died Saturday in Fountainview Terrace of natural causes. Survivors include a daughter, Lois I. Henderlong of LaPorte; a sister, Helen Blank of Terre Haute, Ind.; and a brother, John of Terre Haute. There will be no services or visitation. The Cutler Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Eleanor J. Holloway

June 30, 1920 - Jan. 30, 1999

BOURBON - Eleanor J. Holloway, 78, of 508 S. Main St., died Saturday in her home of natural causes. Survivors include three daughters, Vickie Holloway of Mishawaka, Pam Denney of Argos and Darlene Riewoldt of Bourbon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Deaton Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

James N. Kambol

Dec. 24, 1914 - Feb. 1, 1999

SOUTH BEND - James N. Kambol, 84, of the St. Joseph Care Center - West, died Monday in the nursing home. Survivors include a son, Terry of South Bend. Private services will be today in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. There will be no visitation. The Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend, is handling arrangements.

Clyde C. McCollough

Sept. 7, 1919 - Jan. 30, 1999

LAPAZ - Services for Clyde C. McCollough, 79, of 437 N. Michigan Road, who died Saturday in his home, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Brethren, Plymouth. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Johnson - Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Richard S. Miller

May 9, 1907 - Feb. 1, 1999

BREMEN - Richard S. Miller, 91, of 316 Woodies Lane, died Monday in the Bremen Health Care Center. Survivors include two sons, Daniel and Douglass, both of Bremen. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Mishler Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Flim Minnix

Dec. 24, 1927 - Jan. 31, 1999

WARSAW - Flim Minnix, 71, of 1692 E. County Road 200 North, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in his home of natural causes. Survivors include his wife Fannie; a daughter, Debra A. Lovely of Warsaw; two sons, Paul E. of Warsaw and David of Key West, Fla.; four sisters, Mary Elam and Ora Lee Hopkins, both of Mentone, Mildred Vance of Dowagiac and Beatrice Hostettler of Etna Green; and a brother, Ronald of McGouffin County, Ky. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the McHatton - Sadler Funeral Chapel, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

Theresa P. Owensby

April 27, 1970 - March 27, 1993

ELKHART - Theresa P. Owensby, 22, of 1100 Grant St., was reported missing on March 27, 1993. Remains were found on July 24, 1997, and were recently confirmed as belonging to Theresa Owensby by Jeanette Albert, Elkhart County Coroner, who is investigating the cause of death. Survivors include her husband, Harvey W.; a son, Lucas W. at home; her mother, Sue Ann Ferguson of Elkhart; her father, Thomas Tidwell of Cullman, Ala.; a sister, Karen S. Ferguson of Elkhart; and a brother, Marlon J. Tidwell of Elkhart. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Evelyn M. Regney

Sept. 4, 1935 - Jan. 27, 1999

ELKHART - Evelyn M. Regney, 63, of 51154 Blue Ribbon Lane, died Wednesday in Hospice House of South Bend. Survivors include her husband, Thomas D.; two daughters, Melody Wright of Baltimore, Md., and Deborah Graham of Seattle, Wash; and a son, Thomas J. of Seattle. Memorial services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. The Walley - Mills - Zimmerman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Astrid M. Shaffer

Aug. 23, 1907 - Jan. 31, 1999

NILES - Astrid M. Shaffer, 91, of 304 Wurz, died Sunday in the Silverbrook Nursing Home of natural causes. Survivors include a sister, Enga Baker of Cassopolis; and three brothers, George D. Jorgensen of Citrus Heights, Calif., Louis E. Jorgensen of Buchanan and Ival H. Jorgensen of Niles. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church, where friends may call one hour before services. The Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling arrangements.

Frances C. Stone

Oct. 17, 1900 - Jan. 31, 1999

BERRIEN SPRINGS - Frances Cecelia Stone, 98, of 7516 U.S. 31, died Sunday in the Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Berrien Center, of natural causes. Survivors include three daughters, Gennevieve Stover of Berrien Spring, Mary Tunis of Hacienda Heights, Calif., and Ruth Minnick of Rhinelander, Wis. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Allred Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before services.

Mary J. Van Duyne

April 1, 1911 - Jan. 31, 1999

ROCHESTER - Mary Jane Van Duyne, 87, of 4646 S. Wabash Road, died Sunday in the Lifecare Center of natural causes. Survivors include a sister, Martha Roynon of Chicago. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today, and from two hours before services on Wednesday.

Michael C. Vergon

Oct. 31, 1972 - Jan. 31, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Michael C. Vergon, 26, of Randolph Street, died Sunday in Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, of natural causes. Survivors include his mother, Debra Nusbaum of South Bend; his father, Christopher Vergon of Lyles, Tenn.; and a sister, Jennifer L. Blahnik of Florida. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m.

Calvin R. Butler

Nov. 12, 1948 - Jan. 31, 1999

KNOX - Calvin R. Butler, 50, of 0404 S. County Road 800 East, Knox, Ind., passed away after a sudden illness at 7:24 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, Ind.

Mr. Butler was born on Nov. 12, 1948, in Newberry, Mich., to Cecil and Irene (Kirkpatrick) Butler, and lived in the Knox area most of his life. He was an employee of the United Beverages Company, South Bend, Ind.

On March 21, 1998, in Knox, he was married to Rebecca Nelson, who survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Kelly Butler of Plymouth; two sons, Chayne of Plymouth and Chris of the United States Navy, stationed at Monterey, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Katie Nelson of Knox; his mother, Irene Butler of Plymouth; a sister, Malva (John) Fear of Argos, Ind.; three brothers, Ben of Flagstaff, Ariz., Frank (Phyllis) of Koontz Lake, Ind., and Bruce (Kathy) of Wichita, Kan.; two grandsons, Benjamin Lapp and Jacob Lapp; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. (EST) on Thursday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, with Rev. Thomas Balje officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Creek cemetery, Knox.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
