Survivors include his wife, Frances (Catalino); two daughters, Ann Mary Johnson of Mishawaka and Kathy Valenti of South Bend; and two brothers, Ross and Victor, both of Mishawaka. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a wake prayer services will be at 3:30 p.m.

Sam D. Orlich

Jan. 16, 1919 - Oct. 17, 1998

SOUTH BEND - - Sam D. Orlich, 79, of 23206 U.S. 20, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Care Center West. Survivors include his wife, Betty V. (Kiernan); three daughters, Sandra Schrock of Elkhart, Louise Atwell of Tennessee and Sally St. John of Indianapolis; a son, Robert of California; and a brother, Richard of Springdale, Ark. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before service time.

Queen Z. Porter

July 7, 1934 - Oct. 15, 1998

SOUTH BEND - - Queen Zella Porter, 64, of North Falcon Street, died Thursday in her home. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra L. Porter, Myrtha McKinney and Mattie L. Bradford, all of South Bend; two sons, Robert D of North Las Vegas and Kevin J. of South Bend; a sister, Irma Fultz of South Bend; and a brother, Alfred Parker of Chicago. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Alford's Mortuary.

Donald R. Schelle

Jan. 3, 1920 - Oct. 17, 1998

MISHAWAKA - - Donald R. Schelle, 78, of South Spring Street, died Saturday in St. Joseph Community Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Janet; a daughter, Jo Carol Sheldon of Mishawaka; two sons, Brian J. of Mishawaka and Mark A. of South Bend; and a sister, Barbara Hartz of Monroe, Conn. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairview cemetery. There will be no visitation. Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

July 28, 1919 - Oct. 16, 1998

KOONTZ LAKE - Anne V. Varga, 79, of 1200 East, died Friday in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

John Sha'Varr Wafford Jr.

SOUTH BEND - - John Sha'Varr Wafford Jr., son of John Wafford and Sharon Love, both of South Bend, was dead at birth Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Alford's Mortuary. There will be no visitation.

April 3, 1923 - Oct. 17, 1998

MISHAWAKA - Reece D. West, 75, of East 5th Street, died Saturday in St. Joseph Community Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Victoria West of Mishawaka and Karen L. Sutphin of Mishawaka; four sons, Douglas of Florida and Terry, Jerry and Daniel, all of Mishawaka; and a sister, Catherine Glaze of Marshall, Ill. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St.

Donald M. Bodkin

Aug. 19, 1919 - July 19, 1998

NORTH WEBSTER - - Donald Max Bodkin, 78, of 9500 E. Ponderosa Ave., died at 7 a.m. Sunday in his home. Survivors include a brother, Harold of Muncie, Ind. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Eastlund Funeral Home - Harris Chapel, Syracuse, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.

PIERCETON - - Joseph Cox, 74, of 1916 N. County Road 850 East, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Lucas); and a sister, Rosalou Hartrick of Temple City, Calif. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in McHatton - Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, where friends may call two hours before services.

H. Wayne Craigo Sr.

April 8, 1927 - July 21, 1998

ELKHART - - H. Wayne Craigo Sr., 71, of 2232 Mather Ave., died Tuesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Doris; two sons, Larry of Goshen and Wayne Jr. of Elkhart; a sister, Dora Young of Charleston, W.Va.; and a brother, Loren of Oak Hill, W.Va. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Westbrook - Metz & Clouse Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today.

LAPORTE - - Betty L. Fisher, 76, of 800 Michigan Ave. died at 12:12 p.m. Monday in LaPorte Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Igelski of LaPorte; two sons, Bruce of LaPorte and Larry of Fort Wayne; a sister, Beverly Roach of Union City, Mich.; and a brother, Richard Hogue of New Berlin, Wis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Haverstock Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour before services.

BREMEN - - Eldon E. Germann, 77, of 303 S. Center St., died Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. Survivors include his wife, June A. (Manges); two daughters, Shirley Yarian of Bremen and Bonnie Wallace of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a son, Ernie of Nappanee; a sister, Esther Gordon of Bremen; and a brother, Walter of Wyatt. BREMEN - - Gilbert F. Hoch - stetler, 96, of 241 Fifth B Road, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the home of his daughter in Belle Center, Ohio. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Chupp of Bremen, Treva Smith of Kansas City, Kan., Katie Schmucker of Honduras, Lydia Mae Hochstetler of Plain City, Ohio, and LeAnna Yoder of Belle Center; a son, Norman of Mio, Mich.; two sisters, Maude Miller of Nappanee and Katie Miller of Logston, Ore.; and two brothers, Andrew of Nappanee and Herman of Bremen. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Crist Slabaugh residence, Old Nappanee Bremen Road. Friends may call today in the William Chupp residence, Fifth B Road. Rose - Eichholtz Funeral Home, Belle Center, is handling arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; a daughter, Chris Wilson of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Dorothy Robbins of Huntington, Ind. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in McHatton - Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

WARSAW - - Thomas Michael Knowles, 50, of 2102 Brookview Drive, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine (Bullock); three daughters, Julie Ann Warren of Leesburg and Amber C. Utter and Pamela Coon, both of Warsaw; and two sisters, Jacqueline Bettinger and Patricia Seiffert, both of Warsaw. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Titus Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

ELKHART - - L.F. Edward Krauser, 76, of 310 Hoover Road, died Monday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Winifred A.; four daughters, Bessie Mason and Kris Ball, both of Elkhart, Bonnie Esch of Bristol and Kathy Hartman of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Dan Burner and Michael Krauser, both of Elkhart; a sister, Mary Bowen of Cleveland, Tenn.; and two brothers, Albert R. of Elkhart and George L.of Edwardsburg. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion Missionary Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home.

PLYMOUTH - - Barbara J. Lindsey, 54, of 1041 Bayless St., died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital of Marshall County. Marshall County Coroner Dean Byers ruled the death a suicide. Survivors include her husband, Robert G.; three sons, Rodney G. of Denver, Mark E. of Indianapolis and Kurt A. of New York City; a sister, Peggy Brilli of Mishawaka; and a brother, John Markus of Schaumburg, Ill. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Johnson - Danielson Funeral Home and one hour before services Friday in the church.
