NILES - Roger Stewart Goodrich, 67, of 2330 E. Main St., died Thursday in his home of natural causes. Survivors include three sisters, Beverly Williams of Buchanan, Joann Rotzien of Niles and Linda Larrew of South Bend; and three brothers, Jim and Jack, both of Niles, and Denny of Mishawaka. There will be no services or visitation. The Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling arrangements.

Alice M. Hess

Jan. 17, 1911 - Jan. 19, 1999

MARCELLUS - Alice M. Hess, 88, of 500 Woodland St., died Tuesday in Lake View Community Hospital of natural causes. Survivors include a son, Raymond L. of Marcellus; and three sisters, Mable Rey, Edith McCurdie and Gertrude Zomer, all of Kalamazoo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mater Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Rev. Albin L. Hosinski, CSC

June 24, 1915 - Jan. 18, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Rev. Albin L. Hosinski, C.S.C., 83, of Holy Cross House, died Monday in Holy Cross House. Survivors include three sisters, Marie Magner and Helen Hosinski, both of South Bend, and Clara Muellner of Mishawaka. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today in the Moreau Seminary, Notre Dame, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Georgette M. Hostetler

Sept. 10, 1918 - Jan. 17, 1999

LAKEVILLE - Georgette M. Hostetler, 80, of Cameron, Wis., formerly of Lakeville, died Sunday in Lakeview Medical Center, Rice Lake, Wis. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hosteler of Menomonie, Wis., and Rebecca Hostetler of St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, Lawrence of Mishawaka and Daniel of Cameron; and a foster son, James Jorgenson of Cameron. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Cameron, where friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Mark Rausch Funeral Home, Cameron, is handling arrangements.

Owen E. Huston

March 10, 1917 - Jan. 18, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Owen E. "Ralph" Huston, 81, of Lynnewood Avenue, died Monday in his home of natural causes. Survivors include a son, James of Edwardsburg; and a sister, Virginia Hooton of South Bend. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Harold Jennings

Aug. 15, 1914 - Jan. 18, 1999

LAPORTE - Harold Jennings, 84, of 1068 Albin Drive, died at 1:35 p.m. Monday in Countryside Place. Survivors include a sister, Hazel Ames of LaPorte. Services will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in DeSoto, Mo., on Monday. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Haverstock Funeral Home.

Charles Kish

June 17, 1918 - Jan. 19, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Charles Kish, 80, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died Tuesday in the nursing home. Survivors include three sisters, Clara Jaworski and Eva Stockberger, both of South Bend, and Josephine Perri of Mishawaka. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, where friends may call two hours before services.

Marie I. Lant

May 4, 1925 - Jan. 18, 1999

NEW CARLISLE - Marie I. Lant, 73, of North Holling Boulevard (Hudson Lake), died Monday in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Borkowski of LaPorte, Jeanne Calvin of South Bend and Kathleen Swank of Mishawaka; a sister, Irene Kenney of Savannah, Ga.; and a brother, Louis Vida of South Bend. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

William G. Magley

March 2, 1916 - Jan. 16, 1999

SOUTH BEND - William George Magley, 82, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, died Saturday in the Chandler Health Care Center. Survivors include his wife, Alberta (Williams); two daughters, Elaine Magley of Lansing and Susan M. Magley of San Francisco; four sons, David J. of Bradenton, Fla., William P. of Stevensville, Patrick E. of South Bend and Dennis Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, Orlin "Skip" of Tempe, Ariz. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Russel D. Mishler

Dec. 20, 1915 - Jan. 18, 1999

GOSHEN - Russel D. Mishler, 83, of 1406 S. Fourteenth St., died at 3:50 p.m. Monday in Goshen General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Opal M. (Hepler); two sons, Douglas W. of Denver, Colo., and Eugene M. of Goshen; a sister, Mary J. Drudge of Goshen; and two brothers, Howard F. of Goshen and Donald M. of Elkhart. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Yoder - Culp Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

Ermel A. Monger

Oct. 15, 1908 - Jan. 19, 1999

ELKHART - Ermel A. Monger, 90, of 2601 Oakland Ave., died Tuesday in Valley View Health Care Center of natural causes. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Seltenright and Marcella Bottorff, both of Mishawaka; and a sister, Margaret Wheeler of Elkhart. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Oliver M. Petersen

March 13, 1916 - Jan. 19, 1999

MICHIGAN CITY - Oliver M. Petersen, 82, of Wilshire Avenue, died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers. Survivors include his wife, Eleonore (Kaaker); and two sons, Ronald and Scott, both of Michigan City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, where friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, and after 10 a.m. Thursday

Edmund J. Russell

Sept. 25, 1912 - Jan. 18, 1999

WINAMAC - Edmund J. Russell, 86, of 434 Northwest St., died Monday in his home of natural causes. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, and after 8 a.m. Thursday in the Frain Mortuary. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today and a scriptural wake service will follow at 8:30 p.m.

George M. Schwenk

Nov. 27, 1928 - Jan. 18, 1999

ROCHESTER - George M. Schwenk, 70, of 2750 E. Indiana 700 North, died Monday in St. Joseph Hospital of Marshall County, Plymouth. Survivors include his wife, Liale (Wolford); two daughters, Debra Chase of Milford, Mich., and Lori Price of Plymouth; two sons, George of Ferdinand, Ind., and Tom of Rochester; a sister, Sr. Gertrude Deloris of South Bend; and a brother, Gene of Evansville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Foster and Good Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Richard S. Szymanowski

May 12, 1928 - Jan. 18, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Richard S. Szymanowski, 70, of West Washington Street, died Monday in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Rita (Pinkowski); and four sons, Gregory, Lee, Randy and Ricky, all of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 t 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m.

Sara A. Tallant

Sept 13, 1958 - Jan. 17, 1999

LAPORTE - Sara A. Tallant, 40, of 202 N. Forrester Road, died Sunday in her home of natural causes. Survivors include two daughters, Kendra T. Gaddy and Sky W. Taulbee, both of LaPorte; two sons, Gary J. of Minneapolis and Craig J. of LaPorte; and two brothers, William "Butch" and Robert J., both of LaPorte. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Cutler Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, and Thursday morning until time of services.

Walter H. Thomas Jr.

Nov. 10, 1927 - Jan. 19, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Walter H. Thomas Jr., 71, of 2118 Leer St., died Tuesday in V. A. Northern Indiana Healthcare System, Marion Campus, of natural causes. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Dilley of Lakeville, Ind. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, where friends may call one hour before services.

Rose Marie VanDeVoorde

Dec. 13, 1930 - Jan. 18, 1999

MISHAWAKA - Rose Marie VanDeVoorde, 68, of West 10th Street, died Monday in her home. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Conway of Osceola; and a sister, Cecilia Midday of Mishawaka. Services will be private. There will be no visitation. The Hahn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Marie M. Webber

May 25, 1914 - Jan. 18, 1999

MICHIGAN CITY - Marie M. Webber, 84, of East Johns Avenue, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday in the Red Oaks Health Care Center. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Egilske of Michigan City; a sister, Laura Bencsics of Michigan City; and a brother, Harvey Schnick of Longwood, Fla. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Root Funeral Home, and one hour before services at the church.
